Many times, however, it is just my initial reaction. More than anything my anger masks my sorrow that 1. people have to die in such horrible ways, and 2. people are such assholes to each other. We only get one life, guys. Gotta do the best we can with the time we have. For me, that certainly doesn't include participating in the death of others.

He has no genuine affection for anyone and yet is fascinating to observe, and is a full blown psychopath by the end of the series. There is nothing sympathetic about Hannibal Lecter but he's certainly fascinating.

I didn't mean strictly on the show, I also meant the books/movies. But he does have genuine affection for people, at least Will. He just believes Will betrayed him. And the series isn't over, season 3 starts Thursday.
