i love love playing with kids, but it always hurts in the end. organizing something like that with a bunch of adults and maybe some booze sounds like a blast though!

my 'dad', 'indian dave' was what i would consider an organized hoarder, aka tweeker. we hadn't spoken to him for 10 years before he died, but going through his shit was incredible. he had sooooo many cool things, i wish i had a store front to sell them in. as it happened, we had a week long yard sale and made about $6,000 off of everything he owned. it was hard fucking work though - i was exhausted at the end... took a week to go through before we even began to sell.

I gave myself an anxiety attack watching hoarders today. Fuck no. That one last with the two sons had me tripping.

did not catch. the one that bugs me out is the one that's called 'infested' i think. the only problem i'd have cleaning peoples houses would be running into roaches or bedbugs.

i saw an episode of hoarders, i think where the people had so many bedbugs that they were actually dotting the walls in broad daylight!

my favorite hoarders was the one with the diabetic mom who basically never left the recliner in the living room and had a stack of fast food, soda bottles and insulin needles piled up next to her chair. the kids didn't clean either and kept things like their toothbrushes in a plastic bag to keep out the roaches. every sink was filled with stagnant water and they had a coffee can full of roach bodies right next to the stove while they cooked. there was also a giant pile of used toilet tissue in front of the toilet about 6 feet tall!

I don't know where the Casey Anthony thread is, but there is a special on TLC right now that is Dr. G's side of the story.

Here is some info on the murder I was talking about in Huntington. I guess the main dude hasn't been released from prison. I was thinking he was, but read something he is up for parole in 2015.

I don't know how to find old newspaper articles.

Here is the book on Amazon. It gives some info on it.

We prefer the more PC term of pack rat.

There's this hoarder by me, he hoards spiders and lets the multiply in a mostly sealed room, when you go in there, it's like 75,900 spiders.

Now being a collector of spiders, even I think that's a bit excessive.

I'm not even the kind of person who freaks out over a spider (unless I find it crawling on me) and that is creeping me the hell out.

I can't watch hoarders anymore, just because it's the same thing over and over again and gets boring. The worst episode I ever saw though was someone who hoarded cats as well as other things, and there were like, dead decaying cat bodies and cat skeletons all over the damn place among all the other crap they hoarded, not to mention the cat piss and crap on everything. It was absolutely vile. They were convinced they were "saving" all the cats by taking them in, even though they couldn't feed or take care of all of them.

OK, I guess there's a difference between a hoarder and a pack rat. My bad.

i can do it. i still think i can do it.

i moved in and then out of a place not too long ago, where the people weren't to interested in cleaning or throwing things away. one thing i did while i was there was clean out a couple of cupboards in the kitchen that still had food from a million roommates ago. no one opened those cupboards. ever. i must have killed about 37 black widows during that cleaning. this is probable an under-estimation.

It's a shame you killed the black widows. They are kind creatures that only bite humans, when humans are around. My brown recluses are a little more testy, and sometimes will web me while I sleep. I don't mind it so much, but if I ruin their webs, then they may bite. My prized funnel web spiders aren't allowed out of their terranium because I don't have anti venom to administer as it really isn't available in the us. But they are gentle creatures also. Next time you see a spider, name it. And you to will fall in love with them.

me and the spiders have a deal. the black widows are free to thrive outside. daddy longlegs can live inside as long as they don't crawl on me. anything that crawls on me dies.
