my history book keeps telling me about religion. the one i'm reading about right now is called zoroastreianism and it is basically the beginning of christianity, islam and judaism. the characters are ahura mazda, which is the all being god and angra mainyu, the route of all evil. one of these days (12,000 years from whatever point the religion was created, i guess), mazda will defeat mainyu and good will triumph. at that point, individuals will be judged and receive rewards or punishment.
in the meantime, there were 6 lesser deities doing their thing, presiding over whatever they do. this made me think of how we view the later religions as monotheistic. i don't think they are, really... we may have a 'big god' as did many of the earlier religions, but we also have lesser deities. we just call them saints and we worship them too, praying to the various saints for specific help - christopher for our travels, joseph for a job, anthony to return lost items, raphael for healing, etc.

It's INSANE how quickly that place went up in flames.
I remember when this happened. My Mom was paranoid of me playing clubs and made me promise I would learn the escape routes of every one I played. I wasn't good friends with any offer the victims, but one gal hung around our circle of friends.

I didn't click on yours, but there's an extended one of there that shows before the concert started and you realize you're watching their last moments. Ever then other videos of hours later sifting through the bodies. Hearing the screams. Tragic.

yes, i still squee when i see one. maybe because it doesn't happen enough for me to think it's normal. seems like there is a house with goats and chickens on every street though.

And I still squee every time I see a horse. I know the names of almost all of the Detroit Mounted Police horses.

well, i've officially seen my very first black-face halloween costume in person. it figures, going out to a bar on halloween in the desert would expose me to such a thing.
it was the taco lady. yes, the hispanic woman who makes tacos out back during the pool games came to the halloween party dressed as aunt jemima with dark face paint and bright red lips.
Of everything I saw in NYC - I was most excited when I saw the mounted police. Well, that's a lie. I was most excited for the Majestic Theatre. THEN the mounted police. I got to pet the horsies!
If all goes right I start my riding lessons again on the 9th!
