Court documents reveal a Massachusetts woman confessed to strangling her two young children before driving to Vermont and attempting suicide.
Janette MacAusland, 49, appeared via video in Rutland court Monday afternoon, facing a fugitive from justice charge after spending the weekend in the Marble Valley Correctional Facility.
Court documents reveal MacAusland showed up at her aunt’s house in Bennington Friday night, a three-hour drive from Wellesley. MacAusland was allegedly hysterical, covered in blood and had a gash on her neck.
Police say she told her aunt that she killed her kids and tried to take her own life. Her aunt also reported that MacAusland said she drove to the Quechee Gorge Bridge and tried to jump off, but couldn’t.
