Is it just me or does this entire case seem fucking bizarre in the fact that he STILL HASN'T BEEN ARRESTED when he's clearly involved somehow in the murder of a CHILD. What the fuck is taking so long to take him in to custody? I get that they think that it might be difficult to prove, but she was literally found IN HIS CAR and there's evidence that he was in a relationship with her to at least some point. I feel like they're delaying and dancing around holding him responsible for a dismembered body of a child being found inside of his car. It blows my mind that he not only finished his tour, but is still be-bopping around as if a dismembered body of a CHILD wasn't found in the trunk of his car.

This is behind a paywall, so I have an archived link below. There are some interesting details; the article is really long, so this is just some key takeaways.

In the summer of 2024, a budding musical sensation known to his legion of mostly young fans as d4vd posted on social media that he was experiencing a case of writer’s block.

“I’m in a song crisis right now,” the entertainer, then 19, lamented on Discord.

Within minutes, one of his followers on the popular platform offered an oddly specific suggestion:

“Drop the one with the missing girl celeste rivas hernandez,” the anonymous user wrote, referring to a 13-year-old runaway whose face was plastered on “missing person” posters at the time.

The message went unaddressed by the singer, whose full name is David Anthony Burke.

But the cryptic—seemingly taunting—post has since emerged as an intriguing nugget in connection with a grand jury investigation in which prosecutors have deemed Burke a “target.”
A CNN investigation, based on an extensive review of social media postings both by and about Burke, as well as more than a dozen interviews, found that Rivas repeatedly appeared in Burke’s orbit before and after she was reported missing for the first time in February of 2024.

Hints about the girl’s connection to Burke began to surface even before she was reported missing.

In January of 2024, Rivas appeared side by side with Burke in a livestream video on the social medial platform Twitch. In it, the pair joke and banter until about 3 a.m. before Burke laughingly proclaims, “Delete everything.”

A month later, a person concerned over Rivas’ well-being sent an email to an address bearing Burke’s stage name — d4vd — on his record company’s domain.

The writer referenced Rivas’ disappearance and said “There’s been talk” that Burke possibly had something to do with it.

If there was any truth to that, the person wrote, “please do the right thing and take her home. Her parents are very worried.”

CNN confirmed the authenticity of the email with the person who sent it. But that person asked not to be identified due to safety concerns.
Rivas returned home within days of the email being sent, an acquaintance of the family confirmed to CNN.

Around that same time, between January and March of 2024, the singer was photographed getting out of a black Tesla a few blocks from Rivas’ home. A local teen in Lake Elsinore later posted the photos on TikTok.

CNN geolocated and chronolocated the photos to verify when and where they were taken.

A few months later, after having been reported missing again, Rivas was photographed backstage during a sold-out show the entertainer performed at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles in June.

Then, in August, came the message on Discord asking Burke when he was going to drop the song about the missing girl.

Another piece of the puzzle linking Burke to Rivas was found in Burke’s rented home after Rivas’ body was identified in September 2025 and the case began making national headlines.

Steve Fischer, a private investigator hired by the owner of the property, said he uncovered a digital camera inside the house with photos of both Rivas and Burke taken in late December of 2024 and early January of 2025.

During that time, the entertainer posted other photos from the camera’s memory card to his X account, captioned “took these pics” along with a selfie of him wearing a camera of the same model.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s family has broken their silence after D4vd was arrested in connection with her death.

Two days after Burke’s arrest was announced, Hernandez's father, Jesus Rivas, said, "Thank God ... justice for Celeste,” according to a statement family attorney Patrick Steinfeld provided to TMZ.
Speaking with TMZ, Steinfeld shared insight into how Hernandez’s family plans to handle Burke's potential court appearances in the future.

Should the singer-songwriter be charged with murder, the lawyer said Hernandez’s family plans to exercise their rights under California's Victims' Bill of Rights, a.k.a. Marsy’s Law, and attend the singer’s arraignment.

They also plan to attend any press conference held after the arraignment, where they will speak to reporters, Steinfeld said.

Singer D4vd has been charged with murder in the death of a 14-year-old girl who was last known to be alive nearly a year ago and whose dismembered and decomposed body was found in September in his apparently abandoned Tesla, prosecutors said Monday.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said the 21-year-old D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
The murder charges included special circumstances — lying in wait, committing crime for financial gain and murdering the witness in an investigation — that could carry the death penalty.

Prosecutors haven’t announced whether they will seek it. Burke is also charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a person under 14 and mutilating a body.

It sounds like they have evidence to charge him with those special circumstances. For once, the LA prosecutor's office are keeping tight lipped on the evidence they have.

Interesting. I wonder what the financial gain was. I just assumed he killed her because he was mad at her or to keep her quiet on sexual assault.

Celeste Rivas' cause of death has just been revealed ... and the medical examiner in Los Angeles says she was killed by multiple penetrating injuries with unspecified objects, and her death was ruled a homicide.

The M.E. says there are "2 penetrating wounds of the torso with smooth edges that may represent sharp force injuries. The wound -- [3/4 inch length and 1.5 inches deep] -- on the upper abdomen penetrates the liver, and the wound on the left chest -- [9/16 inch length and 2 inches deep] penetrates one of the left intercostal spaces, with disruption of the adjacent ribs' cortical surfaces."

The M.E. also says that her left ring and pinky fingers were amputated, but the body diagram shows that her right pointer finger with the "Shhh" tattoo was intact.

This will also be an interesting issue at trial ... the autopsy report says there is a "presumptive positive" for methamphetamine and MDMA, but there was another screening, which says methamphetamine was inconclusive and MDMA was not detected.

The report says Celeste may have had alcohol in her system, but it did not contribute to her death.

The body was badly decomposed -- her head was "partially skeletonized with an absent left eye."

D4vd's iPhone contains a ton of child pornography ... at least according to prosecutors.

The singer was in court Thursday -- exactly one year to the day of when prosecutors claim he murdered Celeste Rivas -- for a status hearing on his upcoming preliminary hearing, which a judge set for May 1.

During the hearing, prosecutors claimed they went through his phone and found a "significant amount" of child porn. It's unclear if the alleged CP features Celeste.

Disturbing new details have emerged of the horrifying way D4vd groomed and eventually mutilated Celeste Rivas at the age of 14 with a chainsaw, according to prosecutors.

The singer, real name David Burke, ordered an Uber to deliver Rivas from her family home in Lake Elsinore to his Hollywood Hills home on the night of April 23, 2025, according to legal documents obtained by The California Post.

He then stabbed her and stood by while she bled to death, prosecutors claim.
Burke allegedly ordered a shovel from Home Depot the following day and had it delivered to his home by Postmates.

About a week later, he ordered two chainsaws from Amazon that were delivered to his home, and on May 5, he allegedly ordered a body bag, heavy-duty laundry bags and a blue inflatable pool, according to the documents.

He allegedly made the purchases under a fake name, Victoria Mendez.
From there, investigators say, Burke “took horrifying measures to destroy and discard the victim’s body.”

Burke allegedly placed Rivas’ body into the blue inflatable pool to prevent her blood from making a mess on his garage floor and used the chainsaw and possibly other tools to cut off her limbs, according to the documents.

Investigators allegedly found plastic fragments embedded in Rivas’ remains that matched those found in the pool purchased by Burke on Amazon.
Burke also amputated Rivas’ left ring and pinky fingers because her ring finger bore a tattoo of his name — and those fingers were never recovered, according to the documents.

Several biological samples, which tested positive for blood, were collected within the garage area,” the documents state. The DNA matched Rivas’, investigators said.

Burke and Rivas got into a “lengthy argument” over text message the night before the alleged murder because she was jealous about Burke’s relationships with other women, according to the documents.

A status conference in the murder case involving singer D4vd is scheduled to be held in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested in April on suspicion of killing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder, sexual abuse of a child under age 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains in Celeste’s death.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has also filed special-circumstance allegations, including murder of a witness and murder for financial gain, which could make Burke eligible for the death penalty.

Prosecutors allege the 21-year-old singer killed Celeste after she threatened to expose what they describe as an illegal sexual relationship that could damage his music career.

Tuesday’s conference will determine whether attorneys on both sides are on track to proceed to a preliminary hearing scheduled to begin July 21.

There's no doubt in my mind that she was pregnant and that's what precipitated this.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives found a “burn box” at the Hollywood Hills home of musician D4vd.

LAPD robbery-homicide detective Joshua Byers testified at a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, July 21 that investigators discovered the incinerator box behind a piano after serving a search warrant at his residence on Sept. 17, 2025.
“It’s a device that can be used as a mini crematorium type to burn items to nothing,” Byers said.

According to a preliminary hearing brief, the “burn box” was purchased on Amazon in the days after prosecutors believe Burke killed 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez on April 23, 2025.

A judge has ruled that US musician D4vd will go on trial for murder over the death of a teenage girl.

The decision came after a five-day preliminary hearing, in which Los Angeles prosecutors questioned a dozen witnesses and displayed graphic photographic evidence as 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez's family watched on.
Burke is scheduled to be in court next on 31 August to have the charges against him formally read. The trial is to start within 90 days of that date.

The charges include first-degree murder, mutilation of human remains and child sexual abuse. The murder charges include special circumstances linked to financial gain that could make Burke potentially liable for the death sentence.

Prosecutors have alleged Burke stabbed the teen before dismembering her body after years of sexual abuse.

The accusation of murder for financial gain is among the special circumstances included in the charges making Burke potentially liable for the death sentence.

They allege he killed her because the teen had threatened to reveal his relationship with a minor and destroy his multi-million dollar music career.

Evidence read in court on Monday showed threats Hernandez made to Burke on 22 April 2025, stemming from arguments about his friendship with another girl.

"I swear to GOD I will kill u", one expletive-laden text said, followed by a threat to strangle him and tell her dad lies about him. "i will end ur career and ur life I will damage anything," the text went on.

The following day, Hernandez went to Burke's Hollywood home in an Uber he had sent to pick her up.

Prosecutors alleged that Burke stabbed her once she arrived.
