The family of a missing 16-year-old Columbia Heights, Minnesota, boy will be joined by law enforcement Wednesday afternoon to share new details and call on the public for more information.

Earlier this month, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued an endangered missing person alert for Jordan Dupree Collins, Jr. He was last seen May 8 on the 4800 block of University Avenue Northeast.
"Collins has no vehicle and is not with any known family members," the BCA alert said. "He has no similar history or known medical issues."

Collins is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. No clothing description was provided.

Law enforcement officials say they believe 16-year-old Jordan Dupree Collins Jr., who went missing weeks ago in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, was taken "against his will," and a person of interest has been established.

In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon held with Collins' family, Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise says he doesn't think this is a case of a teenager running away.

"We believe his disappearance is against his will. We fear worse," Wise said.

He didn't identify the person of interest, but noted no one is in custody and no criminal charges have been filed.
Wise says since Collins' disappearance, his cellphone has only been turned on once for three minutes. He hasn't talked to any family members or his girlfriend, and he hasn't logged onto social media. His mother, Ashley Berry, says her son also hasn't claimed his allowance through CashApp.
Wise says his office and police are being assisted in this case by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the FBI, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Northstar Search and Rescue — adding the agencies are "using all available resources to locate Manny."

A 16 year old not using his phone and not accessing his allowance is worrisome.

It appears the person of interest is Manny's estranged father.

Investigators returned Thursday afternoon to the apartment building where 16-year-old Manny Collins was last known to be staying with his father, walking out with what appeared to be evidence bags as the search for the missing teen continues.

"I love him, and I’m not letting up. I’m not letting up," said Mike Wilson Jr., Collins’ uncle.

Wilson said he believes his nephew is still alive but may be held against his will. He has reached out to his estranged brother—Collins’ father—but said his brother is not cooperating with investigators.

"My nephew is missing, and the last person he was seen with—it’s not rocket science," Wilson said. "We’re not building rockets, man. It’s common sense. He’s yelling, ‘I need a lawyer, I need a lawyer.’"

Wilson said he and Collins have a close relationship and speak frequently. He said Collins never indicated that his father was violent, but noted the two have had disagreements about religion. It remains unclear if those differences are connected to the teen’s disappearance.

The search for missing Columbia Heights teen Manny Collins is nearing a month, without many answers or clues to find him.

Thursday, authorities are asking any residents in the 4900 block of University Avenue Northeast in Columbia Heights to check their property for any suspicious items.

They’re also asking anyone with home or business surveillance footage showing Manny, or anything suspicious between May 8-12 to submit it to the Anoka County evidence portal.

A large team of law enforcement and search personnel is combing through a north metro landfill, searching for evidence in the case of a missing Anoka County teen.

Images from SKY 11 show more than a dozen searchers from the Columbia Heights PD, Anoka County Sheriff's Office, and agents from the Minnesota BCA and FBI suited up and using rakes to sort through garbage at the Elk River Landfill.

Anoka County investigators have confirmed for KARE 11 that they are actively working on the disappearance of 16-year-old Jordan "Manny" Collins Jr., who was last seen on May 8 near the 4900 block of University Avenue in Columbia Heights.

Ashley Berry, Collins' mother, isn't waiting to see what law enforcement finds. She's searching on her own and is hoping a $10,000 reward will help bring her son home.

Berry spends her days spreading the word about her son.

"I put them on people's mailboxes, on the cars, or I just pass them out to people," Berry said. "I'm like running out of options. I'm lost. I'm stuck. I guess I can keep passing out flyers every day, doing my own searches, but I don't know. I thought the reward was the next step."

Sex trafficking? I know it's more common with girls but it happens to guys, too.

This is awesome. I hope his sweet mom can get answers/closure.

On June 18, Berry posted on social media that she’s offering a $10,000 reward "for anyone that can get my son home to me!! I miss him so much!!!!"

Meanwhile, this week, James Trantina, owner of Collins Brothers Towing of St. Cloud and Schmit Towing in Fridley, told FOX 9 he has matched the $10,000 reward offer.

    How very sad.

Nearly two months after 16-year-old Manny Collins went missing, Columbia Heights Police shared Tuesday that he was found dead.

The Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately say where Collins’ remains were found.

Ashley Berry, the teen's mother, told KARE 11 in June that Collins was last seen with his father, who she hadn't heard from in weeks.

"He's a really good kid, and anybody who's crossed paths with him knows that he has an old soul," Berry said.

A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday to provide updates on the investigation.

Ugh, was hoping for a different outcome.

I wonder if his dad was involved?

So he was found in the landfill where they have been searching.

    https://www.kare11.com/article/news/...b-0db47132a33e

Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise said human remains were found in the Elk River Landfill, where authorities have been combing through waste since early June.

"I assure you, it’s a sobering experience to work in a landfill like that, only to discover someone else’s child," Wise said.

"We were offered information that led to a video, and that video showed that the body might have made its way into a dumpster and then a landfill," Wise said.

According to Wise, the remains were found Saturday afternoon, and by Monday, DNA results had verified the remains belonged to Collins.
Collins' father was the last known person to have contact with the teen, but Wise stopped short of calling him a person of interest in the case. He said authorities remain in contact with him as the investigation continues. However, Wise confirmed police do have at least one person of interest, and they're treating Collins' death as a homicide investigation.

I wonder why they are so tight lipped about his father? Even Manny's paternal uncle has spoken out about the father.

The father of a Twin Cities teenager found dead in a landfill after a weekslong search has been charged in connection with his son's killing.

Jordan Dupree Collins Sr., 38, is charged with one count of second-degree murder, according to court documents filed Wednesday in Anoka County.

Authorities arrested the elder Collins on Monday, less than a week after his son's remains were found. He appeared in court Wednesday, where his bail was set at $3 million without conditions and $2 million with them. Prosecutors allege he was planning to leave Minnesota, and said they will pursue an aggravated charge.

According to the complaint, an autopsy of Collins Jr. found "evidence of decapitation by knife."

Now, Manny's mom is focused on the good her son brought to this world.

"Oh yeah it's hard. It's hard," said Ashley Berry, Manny Collins' mom.

It has been a year of ups and downs for Berry as she attempts to deal with the loss of her only child.

"Manny had many birthdays here. This is one of his favorite spots," said Berry while at Macarron Park in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The park is a place Berry comes for comfort. It's where she began holding events in honor of Manny Collins, in support of the Manny's Way Foundation.

"It's about keeping Manny's name alive and giving me a purpose as well to keep going while Manny was here. He liked helping people. We talked about passing out food and he liked to give out his old clothing, so I'd like to keep it going," said Berry.

With the help of family, friends and community members who want to honor Manny Collins' memory, Berry has passed out gently used clothes and food to those in need in her Frogtown neighborhood in St. Paul.

"I found a lot of ways to cope, and all the support makes it easier, but it's still hard, especially dealing with the trial," said Berry.
Berry is preparing herself mentally for the trial, where Jordan Collins Sr. will represent himself.
