On Pearl Pinson’s 16th Birthday, Her Sister Remains Determined to Find Her
POSTED 7:40 PM, DECEMBER 15, 2016, BY ROWENA SHADDOX, UPDATED AT 03:43PM, DECEMBER 15, 2016

    http://fox40.com/2016/12/15/on-pearl...d-to-find-her/

    Thursday was Pearl Pinson's 16th birthday -- a milestone in a young girl's life.

"Since we were little, she always loved to play in the puddles," Pearl's older sister, Rose Pinson said. "That's what we'd probably be doing."

Instead, Rose, remains vigilant, making herself available at any time and any place, to talk about Pearl and keep her in the news.

"Every single move I make is just for her, so she could be brought home," Pinson said "So her name doesn't disappear."

But since May 25, there has been no sign of Pearl.

Vallejo police say 19-year-old Fernando Castro, a stranger to Pearl, kidnapped her from a freeway overpass above Interstate 780.

Castro later died in a shootout with police. No one has heard from Pearl since.

"It's really hard not having her here, right next to me celebrating," Pinson said. "But I know where ever she's at, her spirit's here with me and we're gonna celebrate with her spirit."

Thursday, the Solano County Sheriff's Office told FOX40 there were no new leads.

In recent months, they've investigated countless leads, and chased down possible sightings of Pearl, which didn't turn out to be her.

"We still have hope that she's gonna be found. We're not gonna give up until she is found." her sister said.

It's been agonizing for the family since Pearl vanished, and especially difficult during this time of the year.

"It's gonna be hard on Christmas, because that marks the seventh months that she has been missing. And right now, our family, we're just staying positive. We're pushing each other, keeping each other up."

Rose says she'll continue to be there for her sister, and wants Pearl to know this: "Happy Birthday and I love you. And I'm gonna find you."
So sad. The chances of them finding anything out now that that guy is dead are just.... I can't even imagine.

Though it would be good if she were, I also agree they are being overly optimistic.

you have your right to say how u feel on her case but think about her family, they are still holding on to hope she is alive. police even said there isnt any evidence he killed her. they even said she may of been put into sex trafficking.

Welcome, Pearl ~ I am so sorry about my comment above and wish I could retract it. You are right and I do hope her family are able to find her one day.

This is from February 2025. I hope they are able to get the bridge named after Pearl.

For the eighth straight year, a small crowd is scheduled to gather near the entrance to a pedestrian walkway over Interstate 780 in Vallejo on Saturday afternoon.

It’s not just any bridge to the family of Pearl Pinson. It’s the bridge where Pearl was kidnapped in 2016.

    She hasn’t been seen since.

If the family can’t see Pearl in person, they’d like nothing more than her name to adjourn the name of the bridge that goes over the 780 freeway just past the Laurel Street offramp when heading east.

“It would mean a lot to have it named after her,” Pearl’s father, James Pinson said. “I just want to keep her name out there as much as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad, I just want her name out there.”

The family and Vallejo City staff have begun the process of trying to name the bridge after Pearl, but they are often met with what they say is the runaround on what the process entails.

The last time a Vallejo teenager, Pearl Pinson, was seen alive was nearly a decade ago. On May 25, 2016, Pinson was 15 years old and walking on a pedestrian overpass heading to school when she was attacked and kidnapped, investigators said.
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office said Pinson and Castro were strangers to each other. After the kidnapping, her blood was found in Castro’s car, sheriff’s officials said.

Pinson’s father believes it took too long for detectives to publicly identify Castro as a suspect. “They knew who it was that took her, but they didn’t put the Amber Alert out until 32 hours later,” the father told KRON4.

Using surveillance cameras, investigators retraced the route Castro’s car travelled post-abduction. He drove to Marin County, followed by a gas station near Bodega Bay. A search for Pinson’s remains along the Sonoma Coast came up empty.
This Monday at 6 p.m., community members are invited to join the Pinson family for a gathering to honor and remember Pearl Pinson. They are meeting at 1,000 Lewis Avenue in Vallejo, where the girl was last seen.

I love how her dad/family are keeping her case alive. I simply cannot imagine the pain they are going through and cannot believe a decade has passed.

The family of Pearl Pinson has launched a new independent tip line this week, desperate for answers a decade after the 15-year-old vanished from Vallejo.

Her sister, Rose Pinson Rodriguez, has been searching for answers since the teenager was kidnapped under the Highway 780 overpass in May 2016 while walking to school. The armed suspect, 19-year-old Fernando Castro, dragged Pinson into a car, but what happened next remains unclear. Castro was shot and killed by police in Southern California the following day, leaving investigators with few answers.
Pinson Rodriguez is manning the tip line entirely by herself. She hopes the initiative will encourage people to come forward who might otherwise hesitate to speak with law enforcement.

"I think it's just a better way," Pinson Rodriguez said. "You know for people that may know something that don't want to go to the police and they just come to me like, 'Hey, can you keep me anonymous?' That's what I would do."

Using information provided by detectives, Pinson Rodriguez identified a critical 22-hour window between May 25 and May 26 spanning from Petaluma to Bodega Bay where the pair could have been spotted.

"Since he's dead, there's nothing we can do," Pinson Rodriguez said. "That was just one area we knew he was going because of the directions that were found in his vehicle, the day he was killed."

It's so crazy that it's been this long, and nothing. I am guessing human trafficking, although I don't remember much about this and should probably re-read it...

I feel so horrible for her family. The not knowing must be torture.
