The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for the owner of a nearby sailboat in connection with the case of missing American woman Lynette Hooker.

Lynette, 55, "reportedly fell overboard" while on a dinghy with her husband, Brian Hooker, in The Bahamas at around 7:30 p.m. local time on April 4, police have said. Brian was arrested days later and questioned by Bahamian police before he was released.

In a post shared on X on Tuesday, May 5, the Coast Guard released two images of a sailboat, located near where Hooker went missing.

“[We] are asking the public for info about the disappearance of Lynette Hooker [within] Aunt Pat’s Bay, BAH, 4/4,” wrote the Coast Guard “CGIS is looking for the owner of the sailboat below, moored near the SV Soulmate.”

The Coast Guard provided no further information about the investigation.

The sailboat used by Brian and Lynette Hooker in their travels around the Bahamas — named "Soulmate" — has been seized by U.S. Coast Guard investigators, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.

The boat departed Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas on Friday and it was on its way to the U.S. when the Coast Guard took it into custody Saturday.

This comes as the Coast Guard Investigative Service probe into the disappearance of Michigan mother Lynette Hooker has intensified in recent days, according to a source briefed on the investigation.

CBS News has confirmed Coast Guard investigators have been actively conducting interviews with potential witnesses.

Last week, investigators released images of another sailboat and said they wanted to interview the occupants or owners of that vessel.

Lynette Hooker's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, said in a Mother's Day video message that she was aware that the Soulmate had left the Bahamas but she has not received any update from the Coast Guard.

A friend of Brian Hooker says the husband of a missing American woman had a $33,000 high-tech thermal camera on his boat that night and never used it to search for her.

After leaving shore at Hope Town in the Bahamas at around 7:30 p.m. on April 4, Brian Hooker told authorities that rough waters caused his wife to fall off their dinghy.

Brian Hooker paddled to shore and arrived at Marsh Harbour around 4 a.m. on April 5, according to authorities.

Daniel Danforth, who's friends with the couple, told Fox News Digital that the couple's boat, Soulmate, contains a thermal camera that Brian Hooker could have used to help search for his wife.

"One of the neat features that they had on their boat that most boats don't have is called a FLIR system. And it's a forward-looking infrared. And what it is a camera system that's not only night vision, but it's also thermally operated that it can pick up heat signatures and stuff," Danforth said.

In a text message sent to Danforth on April 6, Brian Hooker said Lynette "swam towards the sailboat" after she fell off.

The U.S. Coast Guard will reopen the search for Lynette Hooker.

The search will resume because GPS data from the boat she and her husband, Brian Hooker, were on appears to contradict his account of his whereabouts the night she disappeared, the official said.

Hooker’s account caused investigators to search “in the wrong area” of the Sea of Abaco while they were looking for Lynette, 55, the official said.

The Coast Guard is requesting permission from Bahamian authorities to allow divers to re-search the sea, the official added.
