Iowa authorities have charged an Iowa woman with murder 15 years after West Des Moines realtor Ashley Okland was killed at an open house.

Kristin Ramsey, 53, of Woodward, is charged with first-degree murder. She has been booked into the Dallas County Jail and is being held on a $2 million cash-only bond.

Okland, 27, was found dead with two gunshot wounds inside a model townhome where she was holding an open house on April 8, 2011. Authorities said on Wednesday that few details will be made public at this time.
Hayes said during Wednesday's news conference that no other arrests are anticipated.

A former Polk County prosecutor says it’s unlikely new information will publicly be shared regarding the investigation that led to the arrest of Kristin Ramsey, who’s charged with first-degree murder, 15 years after West Des Moines realtor Ashley Okland was killed.

Okland, 27, was found lying on the floor by an employee for the development company after she was shot twice while hosting an open house inside a West Des Moines model townhouse for Iowa Realty Co. in the early afternoon, according to Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa.

She was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said.

Ramsey had worked as an administrative assistant and sales manager for Rottlund Homes, the developer of the townhouse where Okland was fatally shot, the Des Moines Register reported.

The accused murderer is an employee at Midland Title & Escrow, which is connected to the realty company that Okland worked for when she died, Iowa Realty told the outlet in a statement. The company removed Ramsey from its website on Wednesday, the outlet said.

The motive in Okland’s slaying is not clear.
Cops did not further comment on how they found the “missing piece” that led to Ramsey’s arrest.

Very odd. I wonder why it took this long to identify the murderer and what the motive was.

The woman arrested in connection with the 2011 cold case murder of an Iowa real estate agent was reportedly spotted acting "in an erratic manner" by a witness immediately after gunshots, according to newly released court documents.
Okland was fatally shot twice at close range, once in the chest and another in the face, while hosting a model townhome owned by Rottlund Homes – the same company in which Ramsey was employed at the time of the alleged killing.

In a new court filing, a witness who lived next door reported hearing two loud noises before seeing Ramsey outside the front door of the townhome, according to KCCI.

The witness also reportedly told authorities she saw Ramsey pacing outside her vehicle and using her phone upon looking out her second-story window.

The court filing indicates Ramsey called a colleague at Rottlund Homes immediately following the alleged shooting, but did not call 911, the outlet reported.

Shortly afterward, the witness reported seeing Ramsey "back up at a high rate of speed in an erratic manner and leave the area," court documents show, according to KCCI.

Authorities also indicated the witness — not Ramsey — called 911 to report the shooting.

Prosecutors have since revealed that Ramsey has given conflicting versions of her whereabouts on the day of the alleged murder in multiple interviews since the investigation began, according to KCCI.

Court records also show that authorities discovered several firearms, illegal substances and violent posters inside Ramsey’s home upon executing a search warrant on May 3, 2011, the outlet reported.

The same items were reportedly found after a second search warrant was executed at Ramsey’s home shortly before her arrest this spring.

It makes no sense why it took so long.

A woman accused of first-degree murder in the 2011 death of Ashley Okland has bonded out of jail after her bond was reduced Thursday morning.

Kristin Ramsey was in court last week for a bond reduction hearing. Her bond had initially been set at $2 million, but her attorneys argued for a lower bond due to her ties to the community and her lack of criminal record.

In documents filed Thursday morning, the judge ordered Ramsey's bond to be lowered to $500,000.
