Bloomington, IL police investigate the death of Mariah Kletz (16)

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Police are investigating the death of a Normal Community West High School student who was found dead inside a Bloomington home.

Paramedics and officers with the Bloomington Police Department were called to the house at about 10:46 a.m. on a report of a cardiac arrest.

When they arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl and began life-saving efforts. Despite the efforts, Mariah Kletz, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
Dayna Brown, a Unit 5 spokeswoman, confirmed she was a student at Normal Community West High School.

Preliminary investigation suggests there is no threat to the public, police said.

The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by Bloomington police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

Her aunt wrote this on FB.

My niece Mariah Kletz was murdered brutally beaten to death. I am hurt, sad, lost every emotion you can feel my family is feeling them all right now, but most of all I’m angry. I’m angry that nobody is talking about this. Someone in Bloomington, IL beat a 16 year old child to death and they need to answer for that. I am asking everyone to start talking, talk to your friends, families, your children, the police. If anyone knows something even if you think it’s not important please please speak up. Put yourself in our shoes what if it was you or your child who is no longer here. I CAN NOT STAND THE SILENCE ANYMORE! HELP US FIND JUSTICE FOR MARIAH

I don't know. There really isn't much more being shared in the news.

Now, the family is offering a cash reward of $1,000 for information leading to a conviction in Mariah’s death. They hope the reward will encourage someone to come forward and provide answers and justice for Mariah.

Her father, Michael Kletz, describes Mariah as a bright, promising teenager whose life was cut short. “If anybody can provide us with any information so we can get to the bottom of this, so my baby can be at rest,” he said.
Bloomington Police and McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder have not said how Mariah died, nor have they released autopsy results, They’re only calling this a homicide and an isolated incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington Det. Ryan Strebing at 309-434-2537 or [email protected] .
