Barely anything. I had my kid do his homework and study last night. I knew they wouldnt be off. They got a 2 hour delay.

In my day we wouldnt have even gotten that.

They have snow days for low temperatures nowadays. That never would have happened when I was growing up.

Agreed. You have to go down a winding hill to exit the street off my street. In highschool, my ride slid down the hill backwards. We left her car and walked home. There was ice, and they still had the school open.

I think graves are pointless, but I do visit my cousin in the baby garden from time to time. He is laid to rest next to 4 children, all sisters and brothers. The whole family died because they hit black ice.

If I hear whispers of black ice, my ass is staying home.

How sad about the family. Are you related to them?

Isn't it impossible to see black ice? That would scare the shit out of...

Glad I don't have to worry about that, but I am going to Tahoe this weekend and it scares me, driving there and back.

It's very bizarre here in Ireland right now as it's usually ice and frost by now. We've had rain, wind, rain, wind but the temps are very mild for this time of year. I'm not complaining because it means I can still use my washer. It's outside in a shed and when it gets to freezing temps, I can't use it because the water lines freeze up

Is there a way to insulate the water line?

I don't know. We'd have to have a plumber come out and check it out. I'm sure there's a way, but it's a matter of getting a plumber to come out, check out where all of the pipes are and then doing the work. I was hoping to eventually move it inside at some point so we're waiting on that for now.

My kids school was closed today, BECAUSE ITS COLD. Never, ever, in my day would we get off because its closed. Maybe if it was like -20 degrees, but thats it.

Boston you have water in your shed? Is it big? Mine is just a hoarde of lawn stuff.

Everyones pipes burst up the street, and it moved slowly down the hill, it didnt affect us *knock on wood*

My local news headline said we're going to have the coldest weather that we've had in 4 years. You guys may need to send coats and firewood to me, CC and BWS.

It has been a bit chilly here in the mornings, but it warms up nicely once the sun comes up. However, today it is dreary here, so it just feels cold. Burrrrrrrrrr.

Same here. Today is cold but until now it's been mild this winter. No Nic, it's colder than that Ms.Smartass! You guys are pretty moderate yourselves, right?

We were in the 80s this past weekend, so dipping down into the 30s-40s is a huge change and does no favors for my sinuses.

Yeah, it doesn't get cold very often here except in the mornings. I leave for work around 5:15 am and a few times since this winter began, my cold weather alert came on in my car, which does when it drops below 37.

Lately it's been getting pretty warm in the afternoon, for January at least. I get to my house and it's 70 degrees in there. Whereas just last month, I would have to turn the heater up to 68 when I got home (we turn it down to 66 when we are at work).

this is me feeling soooo sorry for all of you!
This winter has sucked big old monkey junk. And we're at the start of heavy snow ... again. But who know, maybe next week we will get warm temps again. This Winter is literally bi-polar.

I miss the cooler nights and mornings like that. We loved it when we were in Folsom.

Mine is basically rain, more rain, cold, rain, freezing, frost, icy, rain, cold. I still prefer this over snow though. ANY day.

It's funny how we look at it so differently. It's 57 here right now and it's freaking freezing! We'll be back in the 70's by the weekend though. I can't wait!
