15 year old kills ex-girlfriend's mother and siblings after breakup

A 15-year-old boy in West Texas is accused of killing three of his ex-girlfriend’s family members in a triple homicide Tuesday night, police said.

According to a release from the Odessa Police Department, the 15-year-old suspect had planned to shoot his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend outside of school but changed his mind and went to her home instead.

There, he is accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend’s 39-year-old mother, 13-year-old sister and 9-year-old brother.

On Dec. 9, officers responded to a shooting at a West Texas apartment complex. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found three dead victims.

The 15-year-old suspect ran from the scene but was located and placed into custody shortly after, as reported by local NewsNation affiliate KMID in Odessa, Texas.

The teen has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons and is currently in custody at the Ector County Youth Center, OPD said.

I know that in the past it was ridiculous to blame video games for this kind of thing, but these days the video games are SO realistic and gun culture is so prevalent that I truly believe that kids (and people in general) have become desensitized to it all. That combined with no value for human life seems to be on the rise all the way around

And with social media being such a large part of life, I feel like the line can be blurry between real life and what is not. Almost as if people can forget when you do something in real life, it will have real life consequences.

The parents probably urged her to break up with him, or he blamed them somehow. Its happened time and time again. By why kid her siblings? A 9 year old boy? He was trying to punish her.

Charge him as an adult.

I see what you guys are saying, but there are millions of kids that use social media and play video games and dont do this.

15 years old is plenty old enough to know right from wrong, and he has no history of psychosis (which makes you not be able to tell reality from fiction).

I feel like if your theory was correct, he would have targeted some random people. Like shot up a school.

These were deliberate murders because this guy felt slighted.

because he knows she'd have to live the rest of her life knowing he killed them. In a warped mind they see it as punishment. She can never get it out of her mind and he can justify it by saying "she broke up w/ me so it's her fault not mine"

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with Capital Murder of Multiple Persons following a tragic shooting at an apartment complex in North Odessa, Texas.

The New York Post reported that the incident occurred at the Eighty Seventh Apartments, a luxury complex located about 350 miles west of Dallas.

The suspect, who is currently being held at the Ector County Youth Center, allegedly planned to shoot his ex-girlfriend outside of school but instead went to her residence.

There, he reportedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s mother, 39-year-old Jessica Rodriguez, along with her 9-year-old brother and 13-year-old sister. The suspect then fled the scene but was located and arrested by law enforcement about 40 minutes later.

The suspect’s ex-girlfriend was not physically injured in the incident, and police have not confirmed whether she was home at the time. “She’s not OK. But physically she was unharmed,” Police Chief Mike Gerke said during a press conference.

Chief Gerke added that the shooting appeared to be “targeted” and not gang-related. He also stated that authorities know who purchased the weapon used in the shooting but did not say how the suspect obtained it.
