Several bodies found on property in Smiths Falls, Ontario

This one is wild ride/rabbit hole.

Robbie Thomson went missing in October 2023 at 34 years old. This week, without a body, his disappearance was determined to be homicide and 3 people have been arrested. Here's where it gets twisty: one of the accused, Chris Fenton, co-owned a house starting in April 2018 with a man named Robert Lambert. Three months later, Robert Lambert goes missing.

Human remains have now been found on that property, but forensic testing needs to happen before determining who they belong to. I have copied/pasted one of the articles here:

Provincial police have located human remains in their ongoing investigation into the death of a Smiths Falls man.

The Ontario Provincial Police said Friday morning it was too early to determine whether the remains are those of Robbie Thomson.

The OPP have charged three people with murder in connection with the death of Thomson, who was reported missing in October 2023.

A man and woman from the Smiths Falls area, as well as a man from Kingston, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Robbie Thomson.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, officers executing a search warrant at a residence on Kelly Jordan Road located human remains on the property.

“A post-mortem examination will be required to confirm the identity of the remains, as well as the cause of death,” police added.

Authorities had recently offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible in the case.

Thomson was 34 years old at the time he went missing. OPP spokesman Bill Dickson said Thomson’s disappearance has been the subject of a lengthy and ongoing investigation.

“As part of that, our investigative team … found enough evidence that led them to the conclusion that, unfortunately, Robbie Thomson is not just missing, but is deceased and it is a homicide,” said Dickson.

On Wednesday, officers with the Lanark County OPP Crime Unit, the Smiths Falls Police Service, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested three people, OPP said Thursday. Kingston Police helped with one of the arrests.

Christopher Fenton, 48, and Erin Mackie, 40, both of Montague Township, and Joshua Belfiori, 34, of Kingston, have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder. They were in custody pending bail hearings in Perth court later Thursday.

Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

OPP said residents of Kelly Jordan Road, northeast of Smiths Falls, “can expect to see a large police presence at a residence as part of this investigation,” but there is no risk to public safety. Police on Friday said that police presence is expected to continue.

Dickson could provide no further details of the circumstances surrounding the homicide. But he stressed officers are still interested in tips from the general public.

“We still want to hear from people who might have something they think can help, even if they think it’s insignificant,” he said.

“We thank anyone who did come forward with information during this investigation.”

While the homicide conclusion is the worst of news for the victim’s family, it is “definitely a step” toward closure, Dickson said Thursday.

“We still owe it to them to continue with this investigation and find Robbie’s body.”

People who have information can call the dedicated tip line at 1-855-677-4636. People who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

There is another missing man, Lawrence Bertrim, who disappeared in 2022 and yet another man, Steven Tate, who was missing from the same area and was found in a ditch close to the home where these remains were found. All of the men are said to be acquaintances.

So sad. At least his family can put him to rest.
