    https://www.kgns.tv/2025/09/30/mom-a...outputType=amp

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KPRC) – A woman and her three children were hospitalized after she allegedly tried to drown the family.

The situation happened Monday at a pond on the family’s property in Liberty County, Texas.

Investigators said the father called 911 and said his wife had given their children NyQuil before trying to drown them in the pond.

Deputies arrived at the pond where they found the victims, along with their father, near the water. The mother was still in the pond.

Two of the children were conscious and alert – a 6-year-old and a 15-year-old.

However, the mother and an 11-year-old child were both unconscious. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

    Child Protective Services was notified.

    The investigation is ongoing.

Lots of talk about this on SM. Not sure how much is true but it sounds like Dad was arrested on an animal cruelty charge? This makes me think that Dad may have actually tried to frame mom as she was unconscious when paramedics arrived. So curious.

And goddamn that house is huge.

The father of the three children who were rescued from a pond with their mother in Liberty County has now been arrested on unrelated charges of animal cruelty.

Domingo Quintana, 61, was booked into Liberty County Jail on Tuesday. He has been charged with animal cruelty.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Captain David Meyers confirmed that Quintana is the husband of the 39-year-old mother and father of the three children.

Yesterday, Quintana contacted local authorities to report that his wife had given their children Nyquil and was attempting to drown them in a pond on their property.

The children and their mother were rescued, and a dive team is currently searching the pond for evidence.

Dad also being sued by multiple people:

Father of family pulled from Liberty County pond appears in court as new details emerge

The father tied to the Liberty County pond case appeared in court, where new documents revealed details about charges, bond, and lawsuits.

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — We’re learning new details in the disturbing case where three children and their mother were pulled from a pond earlier this week in Liberty County.

Authorities confirm the children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services, while their father, Domingo Quintana, has been taken into custody on an unrelated charge.

KHOU 11’s Deevon Rahming spoke with investigators outside the Liberty County Jail, where Quintana was booked Tuesday morning. A judge set his bond at $5,000 on the animal cruelty charge he now faces.

    Arrest and investigation

Investigators say Quintana was arrested after deputies executed a warrant and discovered several malnourished cats, dogs, and a few chickens on the property. The animal cruelty charge is not related to the attempted drowning case.

Court records also show Quintana is named in multiple civil lawsuits. In Liberty County, he is accused of owing tens of thousands in unpaid property taxes. In Harris County, contractors allege he failed to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for work on his property known as Rancho Monte Carmelo — the same location where the pond incident happened Monday.

    The pond incident
Deputies said Quintana called 911 early Monday, claiming his wife had poisoned the children with NyQuil and alcohol before trying to drown them. Investigators reported finding medication bottles near the pond and plan to test whether the children were given medication or alcohol.

The mother and an 11-year-old girl were airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. A 15-year-old and a 6-year-old were also hospitalized.

    Current condition

Officials say the children and their mother are safe, though no updates have been provided on their conditions.

His story isn't really believable. I will not be surprised if he ends up charged with attempted murder. Trying to give a 6 year old Nyquil is like trying to give a tasmanian devil a bubble bath.

Okay, a lot to unpack here.

First of all, the kids could have been slipped gel caps instead of the liquid Nyquil. Second, my first instinct would be to point the finger at the Father as well, however the 15 year old is old enough to say what happened and the fact that they haven't charged the Father with the attempted murder points to it being the Mother that did attempt this. You would think that the police know what happened since all of the children are witnesses and can corroborate the stories if interviewed separately.

By the sounds of it, they're both Koo Koo Bananas and I'm happy that those kids are in protective custody. I could see the wife wanting out living with someone like him. Who fucking starves animals on purpose?

And yes, that house is HUGE. Obviously living beyond their means.

Mom was released from hospital and promptly charged.

    https://abc13.com/post/mother-charge...says/18066507/

I am MOST curious about this part of the article:

Domingo Quintana was quickly charged with a misdemeanor case of animal abuse. While he was in jail, a City of Liberty Police officer allegedly used his badge inappropriately and visited Quintana. That same officer was then waiting for Quintana when he bonded out, whisking the father away in a truck.

That officer is now being investigated by the Texas Rangers.

It also reports that all the children had good things to say about mom and not dad.

Makes me wonder if she was trying to "save" them from him?

I think it was the oldest daughter who said this was plan b. Plan a was taking the kids and running but that didn't go to fruition.
