Google Imgur and click on "upload images"
Click "choose photo/video" or "paste image or URL" and choose your photo that you want to upload
On the next page your pic will show and "copy link" will appear in the top right corner. You need to click on that "copy link" button to get options.
On the options that pop up, choose the "BBC Code Option" and copy the link. Paste it into MDS, with no link or additional HTML coding and your pic should show up.

Do you have to sign up for an account first? I don't see an option to upload photos, but I see a sign in.

No. I do not have an account and use them all the time. Just google Imgur and choose the 'upload & Meme' option and go from there.
So I ended up having to click "new post" then the option to upload a pic came. There are only 2 options once I upload the pic, it's to copy the link or "embed" and neither link worked when I tried to post here. Grrr. Which one do you use? Do I need to type some random { } before and after the link?

No, you literally just follow the steps above.
Once you upload the pic to Imgur you choose the download link option and choose BBCode Forum. You just copy the code it shows and paste that in this forum with nothing else added.
Not sure why it's different for me, my only options when I first go to the main screen are "new post" "make a meme" "open arcade" to the left of the screen. To the right it says log in or sign up. That's it.

I ended up using imgbb.com which is what I used to use, so much easier for me. I was scared to go to that site again because I think they got hacked or something last time I went, it had pictures of cartoon boobs on the main page lol, strange.

I think it's because you're clicking on the main Imgur option. You need to google Imgur and then click on the part I have highlighted, now the top row. It's totally different.
We posted around the same time. I am telling you, do NOT go to the main screen, that is what you are doing wrong.
I did that. The pic uploaded and now, what do I do after this? After it uploads, this is what it looks like:
I can either copy one link (it only gives me the one) or do quick share to some sites. When I click "embed" I only get one link option to copy, and it doesn't work when I paste here.
Am I just dumb? I can't figure it out lol.
Either way, my other site is working fine now so I will stick to that one.

Ok, you are finally in the correct area. Now go to the top right area of your pic and move the cursor around and it will suddenly bring up "copy link" in one black box and three dots in another black box. Click on the three dots and then you will see different options. That's where you choose the BBCode Forum option, that's the one you want.
I realized you can get to it from the main page, you just click new post in the top left and it brings you to the upload part :)
Edited to add, thanks for those step by step directions, I totally see it now.

I will post pics of my new vase and flower decor on Monday, the vase should be here tomorrow. I also bought a beautiful canvas to hang in my living room (and I hate hanging anything on my walls, so it must be great for me to do it! lol)
