Thanks for the info! My boy isn't there yet, but I fear surgery is in his future and I'm just doing some research. I've never known anyone who did either, and it still doesn't seem like it would work but I guess it does. Both options were thrown out there as possibilities IF we get to that point. I know the total replacement is more involved, but it sounds like a better option to me, but IDK.

We do another round of PT and shockwave today, and start the water treadmill.

TMars accidentally figured out how to quote in the post board apocalypse on one of his drive by posting sessions.

PT went well. I wasn't sure how he would take it because he's not the biggest water fan. They said he did well, other than trying to go to the front and side of the treadmill, basically moving off of it. They said they had to put pool noodles around him to keep him on the treadmill. I said they put him in pool noodle jail.

He looked not great yesterday after we got home, but they said he might be sore from the exercises and shockwave. I got up at about 4am and took him outside on the leash(he's figured out that we are getting visits from a very large possum in the middle of the night and I don't want him to get into it with the possum and hurt himself or the possum) and he was looking great. That has continued so far today, so I am happy. I fear it won't be enough to ward off surgery (and I am not sure I want to put him through that) but I am hopeful, if that makes sense. Ted is the dog love of my life, and I would do anything for him, but I want to do the right thing and I just don't know what that is right now.

As a side note, I always find it interesting when I see possum versus opossum. I have always referred to them as opossum, but then again, I am a dork.

I believe what they say about him doing well though, because they didn't pull any punches with another lady and told her that they had to muzzle her dog and he would have to take a sedative the next time he came. It wasn't for PT, they were doing something with his leg, but I still realized they weren't just trying to please the owners by telling them what they wanted to here, lol.

It was a monster sized Rottweiler, so if it had wanted to do some damage I am sure it could have. It tried to fight with another dog in the waiting area, so it was definitely feeling its Wheaties!

Literally for a working job interview, I had to hold a huge rottie while it got accupuncture. I was terrified. As a tech you are told your number 1 job is to "protect the vet" FUCK NO. I strattled my legs, and hugged my arms around him but I couldnt hold him and he bit the shit out of the Vet. So we stopped and I said fuck this job. Not working here.

When you have seen accupuncture done do they hook it up to the electric thing or just do needles? We did the electric thing with our other dog almost 16 years ago. Ted is supposed to do accupuncture next week (at my request) and now I am wondering if it will be the electric one.

Im resurrecting this thread after a year.

Both of my cats have been sick lately, but I think they have been on the mend. My one cats white blood cells in his eyes are no longer "like sand". The medication has smoothed them out so they are flat and dont hurt.

My other cat was vomitting excessively. We learned "cats puke nbd" in school but this was every day. Her bloodwork came back perfect, even the new thing they do that checks the hearts elasticity. So my guess was 1 constipationn 2 acid reflux. I paid $250 for the vet to tell me she had hard stool in her intestines and needed to drink more. Duh.

So Im looking at those cat water fountains on Amazon and my head is spinning. So many options. And 5 filters that need to be replaced every 2 weeks. Really? Does anyone know of a good one that doesnt require so much upkeep?

Right now, I clean a bowl, they drink out of it, then they stop. I have to clean it, thoroughly, then they *might* drink it.

I got this "lax paste" from the Vet. She hates it. I do give her miralax in her wet food. But for Miralax to work, she has to drink.

Ugh.
