Homicide investigation opened after Meagan Martin (40) was found dead in Roanoke, VA

ROANOKE, Va. - Roanoke Police have confirmed they have searched the home of a missing woman.

The AWARE Foundation reported police have been trying to find 40-year-old Meagan Drewery Martin, last reported seen in the 1400 block of Downing Street NW in Roanoke June 14, 2025.

Police say no one was in the house when they arrived with a warrant Tuesday afternoon and Martin still has not been located.

Her mother told AWARE that it’s out of character for her not to be in contact, saying her family is concerned for her safety and well-being. Police say she is considered endangered.

Roanoke Police say they have arrested a suspect in the murder of Meagan Martin, whose body was found Tuesday outside her home.

Police took 45-year-old Joshua Robert Presley of Roanoke into custody Wednesday afternoon. A warrant for second-degree murder had been obtained for his arrest.

Police say Martin and Presley had been in a romantic relationship.

A Roanoke man was sentenced on Monday morning in connection to the death of his girlfriend, Meagan Martin in 2025.

The defendant, 46-year-old Joshua Robert Presley, changed his plea to no contest on Monday and was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the first-degree murder of his then girlfriend Martin. He must serve 32 years with credit for time already served while awaiting trial.

A no contest plea means Presley did not admit guilt but accepted conviction and sentencing. The judge made sure Presley knew it is similar to a guilty plea.
