Alex Murdaugh 'invented' story about dogs causing housekeeper's fatal fall at house
I kind of figured as much.

Exactly. I remember when I first heard about the housekeeper's death that the dog story sounded farfetched. Once we learned more and more about the secret life Alex was leading, it was clear it was all lies. And I am not victim blaming in the least, but Paul (and possibly Maggie) were not 100% innocent when they were living. It is rich, powerful families like this in the South that feel they are above everything.

I watched it last night. This story is fucked up right from the get-go. After watching the first episode, I was pissed at Paul because his drunken stupidy caused the death of that poor girl. But they all did get in the boat with him, which was dumb - but they're kids. They make stupid choices.

Then after really seeing what that family was all about, I kind of felt a little sorry for Paul because growing up in that family - he never had a chance. He was a drunken idiot I believe because his family made him that way.

Alex needs to rot in prison for the rest of his life.

The Murdaugh property is back on the market.
I guess whoever bought it might have been getting tired of trespassers.
    If there were trespassers.

Former Colleton County, South Carolina clerk of court Becky Hill – whose jury tampering is likely to give convicted killer Alex Murdaugh a new trial – is reportedly facing a perjury charge in connection with her testimony at last year’s high-profile evidentiary hearing related to those allegations.

According to sources familiar with the status of the ongoing investigation, Hill could be arraigned on the perjury charge as early as this Wednesday (May 14, 2025).

Hill, 57, of Walterboro, S.C., has been the focus of multiple ethics and criminal inquiries in the aftermath of Murdaugh’s 2023 double homicide trial – a six-week spectacle which drew an international audience and exposed all manner of institutional corruption within the Palmetto State.

I forgot to add this yesterday. The surviving son, Buster, recently got married to his long-term girlfriend:

A federal lawsuit filed by Buster Murdaugh against media corporations accusing them of defamation has been dismissed.

Buster, the surviving son of disgraced attorney Alex Murdaugh, filed lawsuits in both state and federal court after a series of documentaries about his family were produced.

Alex is currently appealing his convictions for murdering his wife, Maggie, and younger son, Paul, at their Lowcountry home.
The documentaries didn’t only focus on the murders; in Buster’s lawsuit, he accused the producers of the documentaries of portraying him as the killer of Stephen Smith, a 19-year-old who was found dead on a rural road in South Carolina in 2015.

A filing in the federal case on Wednesday revealed that both Buster and the defendants, including Warner Bros. and Blackfin, Inc., stipulated to the dismissal of the case, with prejudice, after the sides reached a settlement agreement.

No information about the agreement, including the amount involved, was made public.

The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that disgraced attorney Alex Murdaugh will be re-tried for the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul.

Murdaugh’s defense argued in February that a new trial was warranted based on their belief that the clerk of court tampered with the jury and that the judge erred in allowing Murdaugh’s financial crimes to be discussed in the trial.

The Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday remands the double murder case back to a lower court for a re-trial. The S.C. Attorney General’s Office will have to decide whether to prosecute a new trial.

Much as I want him gone forever I do agree w/ this decision. She meddled and spoke to the jury and that is cause for a new trial.

Alex Murdaugh filed a federal lawsuit against Rebecca “Becky” Hill, the former court clerk whose alleged actions led to the South Carolina Supreme Court overturning his double murder convictions and life sentence.

Murdaugh, 57, filed the civil rights lawsuit on Sunday, May 17, in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, reports NBC News, The State and CNN. The former attorney alleges that he was denied his right to a fair trial after Hill improperly influenced jurors.
“Mr. Murdaugh brings this action to hold Ms. Hill accountable for her wrongful conduct under color of state law and to recover compensatory and punitive damages as provided by law,” the lawsuit reads, NBC News reported.

During a press conference in Columbia, S.C., on Monday, Murdaugh's legal team said one of the purposes of the lawsuit is to investigate Hill's actions fully.

The South Carolina Supreme Court has appointed a judge to oversee all future proceedings involving Alex Murdaugh, including the expected retrial in the high-profile double murder case.

In an order signed by Chief Justice John Kittredge, the state's high court assigned Judge Debra McCaslin exclusive jurisdiction over all matters related to Murdaugh's murder case following the court's recent decision granting him a new trial.

The order comes weeks after the Supreme Court overturned Murdaugh's murder convictions and sent the case back to circuit court for further proceedings.

Attorneys for accused killer Alex Murdaugh filed a flurry of motions ahead of next week’s retrial status conference in front of South Carolina circuit court judge Debra McCaslin.

As they prepare for the ‘Retrial of the Century,” the notorious defendant’s lawyers are seeking a change of venue, an independent laboratory review of evidence and permission for Murdaugh to have personal electronic access to materials related to his case.
Previously, Murdaugh’s attorneys submitted a motion asking for the defendant to appear in court in street clothes and without shackles in the presence of jurors, as he did during his initial trial.

Murdaugh will appear at Monday’s hearing.

Alex Murdaugh, the disbarred South Carolina attorney accused of killing his wife and son, will face his second murder trial next spring after his previous convictions were overturned on appeal.

Murdaugh, 58, appeared in court Monday, shackled in an orange jumpsuit, for his first court appearance since his murder convictions were overturned. Circuit Court Judge Debra McCaslin ruled the new trial will begin April 5, 2027.
