Sounds like the theory that they ended up overdosing is most likely.

Ylenia Carrisi (23) disappeared in 1994 in New Orleans. A witness said he saw her jump into the Mississippi River after saying, "I belong in the water". It has not been established that was actually Ylenia.

How strange. I wonder if she was suffering from mental illness, and it was her that jumped into the river?

Pamela Hobley (15) and Patricia Spencer (16) were last seen on October 31, 1969 in Oscoda, Michigan. Though they knew one another, they were reportedly not friends; however, they both skipped their afternoon classes at school and were seen walking together away from the school. A witness came forward and said he gave them a ride to a gas station in the downtown area and they have never been seen again.

They weren't friends but skipped school together? Very strange.

Right. And they apparently asked another girl if she wanted to leave school with them, but she declined.

    Wow that girl lucked out.

Sounds to me like they were hitchhiking and got in the wrong car...

I think that's what happened as well. On Reddit, there was talk that one of them might have been seeing a local military serviceman. Also, someone mentioned that one of the girl's ex-boyfriends went missing after they did, but I was unable to find anything to support that.

Whoa, that would be crazy if true.

I also found this picture on Reddit. The photo on the left is Pamela Hobley. On the right is a photo found in Rodney Alcala's possession after his arrest. If you recall, Alcala was the 'Dating Game" serial killer (convicted of 8 murders, but suspected to have killed many more) who was a photographer. Police released over a hundred of his photographs to try to identify if any of the subjects were additional victims of his.

There was a team in Europe who ran the photo of Pamela and compared it to the woman in the photo from Alcala through face recognition algorithm and it was found to be "very likely" they are the same person. Interestingly, when Pamela went missing, she was reported to be wearing a white fake fur coat; you can see a similar coat in the photo of the unknown woman on the right.

Wasnt hitch hiking common then? If they got a ride to the gas station, they probably got a ride somewhere else or were murdered.

    EDIT You guys ninja'd me

The ex boyfriend thing is really important. And would they be going to the same places if they werent friends?

    The pics look very similiar.

Yeah those pics look similar. I wonder when the pic on the right was taken?

This is one of those old mystery cases that I have followed. Glad to see they finally have him back. Funny thing is, a psychic told the mom exactly where he was a long time ago and now hunters just found his skull there recently.

Brick’s father, a pharmacist and naval World War II veteran, died in 1964 from a congenital kidney disease, and his mother, a schoolteacher, never remarried. When she died in May 2010, Donna Brick’s obituary didn’t mention Douglas — his family didn’t know if he was alive, or dead. They celebrated a memorial for him in 1990.

That year, Donna wrote an entry in her journal that, of all of the details he discovered from this case, Dial says he will never forget. While she was at a department store in Salt Lake City, Donna had a chance encounter with a store clerk who said she was a psychic.

Intrigued by the surprisingly accurate assessment the clerk had already made about her, Donna said, “Maybe you can tell me what happened to my son.” The psychic then told her details no one would have known — that he had gone to the foothills above the U, contemplating ending his life. He became afraid, and because it was dark, and he slipped and fell. “He really wants you to find him,” the psychic said.

“These details stuck out to me,” Dial said. “Where the skull was located, the terrain I was traversing as part of the search, it is extremely steep and loose on both sides, and I was having a hard time in the daylight keeping my footing under me and figuring out where I was going.”

Brick’s skull was found near the summit of Black Mountain.

This one has always bothered me, as I was a student at UF when it happened.

On February 9, 1989, Tiffany Sessions (20), a student at the University of Florida in Gainesville went missing after telling her roommate she was going to take a walk alone. She left between 4pm-5pm, which means it was getting dark outside. She left her keys, wallet, and all identification at the apartment, but was wearing her Rolex and carrying a Sony Walkman.

Witnesses said they saw a woman matching her description speaking to unidentified persons in a car; someone said she might have entered the car, but they were not positive.

In 2014, a suspect was identified, Paul Rowles, who was released from prison in 1985 for a 1974 murder. In 1994 he was sentenced for a variety of charges (kidnapping, rape, etc.) unrelated to Tiffany. He died in prison in 2013 of natural causes. After his death, DNA linked him to the murder of a 21 year old woman whose body was found about a mile from where Tiffany went missing.

To this day, she is still missing and there were never any arrests made in her case.

Tiffany is a case I used to follow very closely. I thought we had a thread on here, but it must have been over at the other place. I didn't know you were at UF when it happened. Every time a UID body is found in the general area I always think of her.

I do too. This is one of those cases I can never get out of my mind.

Yes ~ I was there doing my prerequisites trying to get into their nursing program. Get this...during my time at UF, there were also the Gainesville murders (Danny Rolling). It was a crazy time then.

How does a 20 year old student have a Rolex??? Maybe her parents were loaded. But that right there made me think someone saw it on her and wanted it.

From what I recall, her father was a wealthy businessman.

I guess you expect a certain amount of crime in a college town, but I feel like Gainesville has had more than it's fair share of notorious cases.

Me too. And Gainesville is a small town. Plus, she disappeared, then the very next year the murders happened.

I saw this yesterday at the Barnes & Noble. I was vaguely aware of the story and was going to use my Mothers Day gift card on it but it was expensive and for me a probable one time read so I'm reserving it at the library instead.

    https://www.publishersweekly.com/9781442252332

"Since childhood, veteran true crime author Benson (Killer Twins) has been obsessed with the unsolved 1966 murders of two teenage girls in his hometown of Chili, N.Y., a tight-knit community forever marred by that brutal violence. This gripping reexamination of the double homicide blends memoir with detective work and provides a convincing answer to a mystery almost a half-century old. Benson, who was nine at the time of the killings, knew both victims, and he is especially effective at conjuring up the atmosphere of terror that gripped the area afterwards, transforming the small town into a place where children were kept on a very tight leash out of fear that the murderer would strike again. "
