I was reading an article on this last night. This child was failed by all involved, parents, family, social services. That poor kiddo died in the back of a car and the scum who was her father just continued on like she was a bag of trash. The whole story broke my heart but this part just made me sick

That was the exact quote that set me off. WHO does that and WHY?! Just taking the body out for a stroll? It doesn't say if it was to move her to a new location or not so it sounds like they were just taking her along for shits and giggles.

Since they were living in the car, my guess is she had an accident in her sleep, as even potty trained kids her age have night time accidents. What an overreaction to punch her in the head repeatedly.

Then to move her body around and have it in plain sight is sick. He could have just buried her.

Ugh I just saw video of a man who with his husband, adopted Harmony's brother. Harmony was in foster care with her brother, and the men wanted to adopt Harmony too. The dad wouldnt give over rights to her. That makes me so fucking mad.

Montgomery was also found guilty of second-degree assault, falsifying physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and witness tampering.

Jurors deliberated for about seven hours after getting the case on Wednesday. They asked the judge one question Thursday about the legal definition of the word "recklessly."

Montgomery was not in the courtroom when the verdict was read. He chose not to be in the courtroom for the entirety of the trial.

New Hampshire officials will hand over $2.25m to the mother of Harmony Montgomery, a five-year-old girl who was murdered by her father in 2019.

Her mother, Crystal Sorey, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the state Division for Children, Youth and Families last year.
She claimed the agency failed to take action after several people reported concerns about her daughter’s welfare once the girl’s father, Adam Montgomery, 34, was given full custody in February 2019. Harmony had been placed in state custody earlier in her life and a judge determined she should live with her father, even though he had a violent criminal history.

One report claimed Harmony returned home with a black eye after the two went on a trip to Florida.

She disappeared in 2019 but wasn’t reported missing until 2021. Her body has still not been found.

In a decision issued on Thursday, the Supreme Court reversed his second-degree murder conviction and sent the case back to a lower court for further proceedings.

According to a new filing, the Supreme Court determined that the jury should not have been allowed to convict Montgomery of second-degree murder under the legal theory presented, based on how the case was argued, and the evidence tied to that charge.

Prosecutors charged Montgomery with second-degree murder, which requires proving a specific level of intent or recklessness tied directly to causing death, but the Supreme Court ruled there was a problem with how that charge was applied — either in the jury instructions, legal standard, or connection between the evidence and the charge.

Because of that legal flaw, the murder conviction could not stand, even though the underlying facts were extremely serious, according to the new filing.

The court did not say Montgomery is innocent in Harmony’s death.

Despite overturning the murder conviction, the Supreme Court made clear that multiple serious convictions remain in place, including second-degree assault, falsifying physical evidence, witness tampering, and abuse of a corpse, meaning Montgomery continues to face significant prison time.
