Yes, they're lists. Meant for referencing, I was hoping you'd do the reading on your own practively, oh well. A few clicks and I found Hurst, the shooter of the 1998 Parker Middle School Dance. Reading further on those lists show an away of students an perpetrators. I don't agree with Bowie's assessment, but I don't agree with yours either.

Eta: you recalled a scant few shoot shootings, did you know there were 25 this year alone (during school hours.) This shooting is the 25th in 2013:

Even in Columbine, those who knew him (including and especially Brooks Brown) did not think Klebold was capable of the shooting. He'd just been to prom the friday before. Harris is another story and that is often why it is theorized that he was the "leader."

Bottom line; there is no strict profile and a lot of the warning signs are crap.

I never thought about it before, but you are right. It could have something to do with legal representation.

Dude. Andrew Hurst shot a teacher at a school dance (but was after other students), this is my hometown. That kid was by no means popular, athletic, or buckling under pressure. Kid was a total outcast, and was made fun of on a daily basis.
Not disagreeing with your stance, just saying that maybe you should choose another example to back up your point.

To be totally honest, though.... I disagree with your stance. More specifically, Bowie's stance. These people aren't popular, athletic students who "buckle" under the pressue. They are generally the outcasts, mental disorder or no. I'm not here to discuss psychological diagnosis, "thug", or "troubled child". Beyond dx, we are discussing interpretation.

My point was he had no prior mental health history or disciplinary actions against him, as crickets has set as a pr-req.

I don't agree that all, most or even many school shooters are popular ect ect. But the notion of "it not adding up" because someone had good grades, a stable home life, no known issues at school and/or someone saying they can't see this person doing it - that I most deffinately disagree with.

I think death and it's permanence is not fully grasped by a great deal of today's younger society. Consequences, instant gratification, emotional immaturity - I think there's a lot contributing to it. But more, I think there's more awareness as to what is happening and as a society with the ability to get news from all over we're now hearing about horrible crimes we never thought should or could be committed, but they have been for years and at a much higher pace and brutality.

I also feel I should clarify that I am aware of Klebold's prior legal troubles and in school issues. Also of his depression. Columbine hit very close to home to me, so I've done my research.

That's the thing, though. He wasn't even kicked off the team, and he did not receive (formal) disciplinary action. The article just says there was some kind of consequence related to the team, which doesn't tell us much. He was a sore loser...who didn't actually lose.

He seemed to do quite well in debate, so it's ironic that he had to resort to physical violence to make his point (whatever the fuck it may have been) to the teacher. So much for persuasion.

Popular and athletic, no. I'm not sure about academic performance, but I recall quite a few shooters--school and/or young adults--described as intelligent--Lanza, this guy, James Holmes, Harris/Klebold. That may be selective memory, though.

My hunch is that the coach busted his chops for plagiarism. So many kids today seem to think if they can find it on the Internet they can just use it "whole cloth" and all is good...

Did Dorner get to be crazy? He wasn't just a jaded cop with a vendetta? Never heard of the other guy. Off to Google.

I tried to give you rep for this but it says I need to spread some around first. Not sure what that means, but I'll try walking down Sunset half naked and see if that works. I could use the street cred anyway.

I don't think I've ever heard of any black kids shooting their classmates and teachers in school shooting ( well except in drive by type situations)

I find school, theater, and mall shooting absolutely horrifying. There is something really scary about not really knowing somebody that sits beside you everyday.....and they just snap. I also think the whole 15 minutes of fame fans some of these nuts on.
