Haha saying he's a "thug in the making" is pretty much admitting there was no actual reason to shoot him to death that night; so if it appears as reaching, it is.
What's next? Searching elementary schools and shooting kids that have a problem with sharing? I bet if you suggested that, GZ would approve.
As far as Trayvon being a teen with problems already, I know folks that (as teens) beat people up over gang stuff and robbed people on the train, but they're currently in a higher tax bracket than Freethinker. So thinking someone needs capital punishment on Thursday over weed smoking on Tuesday, is fucking asinine.
Freethinker is no longer even talking about Trayvon's past, he's speculating on his FUTURE, and at the same time telling us we're not allowed to speculate about EVENTS THAT ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE.
Holy justification, batman.
If you want to play the "what if" game, we know that GZ took his neighborhood watch captain status very seriously. He walked his rottweiler through the complex with a 9 on his hip, he called in for real and imaginary infractions. Do you seriously believe that he would not have taken the time to familiarize himself with street names? His whole life seem to revolve on being able to make someones' day a little more miserable by calling the police. He would have known the street name to make SURE to know where to sic the police. He followed because he wanted to
As far as as Trayvon goes, as someone here has pointed out, it is not his family that is the ones that have the criminal history. They seemed to have done everything that we know is what helps keep kids from trouble. He had a close knit family. A couple of weeks before they took him freaken horse back riding! He was 21 days past his 16th birthday, had learned about a black air aviation hero and decided he wanted to go into that field What is it that makes you believe he was a wanna be thug? I see a kid that might have gotten into the things we all do but was basically on his way to being a good man, just as his parents seem to be good decent people. Shame on you.
If his facebook and his khaki's make him a "thug in the making", then I was a fucking Mob Boss when I was in highschool.
If people "speculated" who I was going to be based on who I was as a kid (which they did,) they would have predicted me to probably be in jail with 3 kids from different dads, and strung out on drugs. (You know, since people love to exhaggerate speculation...)
Reality? I work overtime, pay my bills on time, no kids by choice, and my biggest "vice" is my love for boxed wine.
Any speculation on who Trayvon "would have been" is totally irrelevant and fucking ignorant. HE'S DEAD.
I don't think too many on this site have a fucking thinking brain to think things out. It's not all cut and dry.
I WILL tell you this and it is fact. I have been on this site for approx. 6 years and you will NOT find a site that is more comprehensive and accurate regarding facts. We have such up to date accurate information that our site crashed during the VA tech shooting because our facts WERE up to date and factual. If we screw up, we admit it. Most on here have an open mind and can actually think and form sentences (imagine that). Either you haven't followed crime for very long, lack comprehensive language and communication skills (as Bowie suggested) or are just plain blind, deaf, and dumb to the facts. I don't mind discussing differing views but FFS you have been ridiculous in most of your posts.
GZ was getting a much deserved ass whooping, and he pulled out a gun and shot said ass whooper. He then made up a story to sound as if he feared for his life so as to justify a cowardice murder.
Who cares who screamed, who threw the first punch, or who said what first. GZ never identified hisself as neighbor hood watch, never said he was armed, and sneakily followed someone in the rain. He brought a gun to a fistfight. If he gets away unpunished, then anyone can shoot someone else and say "oops".
The defense had a very bad day.
Good. I had to turn it off just as West finished crossing Rachel.
I am so sick and tired of hearing that TM was some kind of thug. Many of you so eloquently stated this and provided factual information about his life, so I hope that topic ends. I have heard this kind of crap before, and when I ask why, nobody has an answer. FFS, Travon Martin was the victim, and he's dead. These defense attorneys are getting under my skin by insinuating that every witness is a liar. After so many interviews and depositions, it can't be easy to remember exactly what you said to who. This trial is so very public, and people are not going to come forward if this is what they are subjected to. Nice fucking work Defense.
Kind of hard to explain but Rachel Jeantel stood her ground.
Laswitness of the day was powerful for the state - Selma Mora said ZIMMERMAN was on top the whole time, she saw them with her eyes.
True. The point I was trying to make was in response to Ron's post below:
I wanted to know if Ron had asked them why the F they had done that and his answer was:
That made me think; that as a black male in a big city, he didn't feel able to question such a thing. As a white, middle-class female growing up in suburbia, I sure as hell would have asked that, would have demanded an answer in fact, and wouldn't have thought twice about it. (you can argue that would not have happened to me and you'd be right, but this is hypothetical.) Black people, especially males, have a whole different reality than white people. That is not a huge revelation obviously, but it's something I hadn't really thought about before. So the fact that the jury in this case is 100% white females bothers me...they see the world from one perspective only.
IF Trayvon had been angry about being followed and confronted GZ as the defense is trying to show, it is more understandable if viewed through the prism of the black experience in this country and it would be nice if there was a bit more diversity amongst the group that will be deciding GZ's guilt or innocence.
