oops, double post, sorry
Good morning and welcome GmaDizzle!Great court stories.
It makes sense that Dan would testify for Jodi. I got the feeling that the Freeman's liked Jodi. Maybe Dan doesn't believe in the DP, and that's why he would testify for her. Didn't somebody say that Dan visited Jodi a few times at jail?? Maybe Dan said that on the stand. Can't remember.
Jodi's friend Patty might not be the best choice though. Depends on if she's high or not. I know those few days she was in court-she looked and acted like she was high. There were some photo's that showed she may have dozed off a few times, too. If she is straight- she would be a good choice b/c she was Jodi's BFF. She is really the only girl I've ever heard about that Jodi was close with.
I really have no idea on what Jodi will get. LWOP or DP. I go back and forth. I do think this is a jury that could give DP without any problems.
I just try to imagine Travis' own thoughts on DP. Travis' one friend said Travis didn't believe in the DP. Don't know if that's true. I know Travis was very involved in his church and his faith, so that made me curious what the stance the church took on the DP. This is what they say:
No matter what the punishment is- I suspect that Jodi will never be free to live life again. Her life as she knew it-is over. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regards the question of whether and in what circumstances the state should impose capital punishment as a matter to be decided solely by the prescribed processes of civil law. We neither promote nor oppose capital punishment.

The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial
Kim Ross and Patricia Womack are listed as sentencing witnesses for Arias along with Daniel Freeman. Freeman has confirmed he was notified but emailed def. back that he's not against Arias being sentenced to death for killing his friend.
Berm - Dan Freeman shouldn't be there.
I want to say that it was mentioned that the backpack was never found. I can't cite a source for that though, it's just from memory. As for the screaming the whole time, I can believe that, because who wouldn't in Travis' situation. But, of course, what Jodi said in the interrogation can't be considered (or it legally shouldn't be) because during the trial and her testimony, she broke out the, "I think I shot him, then I can't remember".
It seems like, after this week, whoever handles her appeals, it's not going to be this current team. Someone posted yesterday that there was already a handful of attorneys who were working on an appeal, hoping to be picked to be her attorney(s). I can't imagine why, except that they want the notoriety from being associated with the case. It's not like they have anything to work with on appeal. I would guess they would claim ineffective counsel.
Yes, you are both correct, from my understanding. When I was reading about the jurors in the Andriano case yesterday, the one juror mentioned how they were 11-1 in favor of the DP. They did not start out that way; they actually had 3 or 4 more who were not sure, but were able to come to an agreement amongst themselves. The one hold-out just didn't know if he could live with the DP. But, he became convinced when they recognized that if they did not give Andriano the DP, it would go to the judge to decide LWOP or Life with the possibility of parole. Even the juror who wavered on the rightness of the DP then voted in favor, because they did not want the judge to decide and possibly allow Andriano to walk from someday.
I think we could face a similar question here. Ideally, anyone who has a problem with the DP should have said so and opted out before the trial, but the reality is, sometimes people slip through, or maybe they thought they could vote for it, then have problems when it comes right down to the moment. Considering the way that this trial has gone and how well the jury has done, I think it's likely that if we have some waverers, they will come to the same conclusion as the Andriano jury; that they don't want Jodi to even have the possibility of parole (from the judge), so they will vote for the DP.
Is that Patti, Jodi's friend? Is she the one who was wearing the off-the-shoulder shirt with her tattoos exposed? Is she the one who was slurring on NG a few months back?
I agree. I think he was snowed by Jodi and had a little crush on her. I tend to think too, that due to being religious, he might've thought Jodi could be "saved" or something. I can't speak for very religious people, but I would think that they hate to just write someone off, they would rather, I guess, embrace the person and try and help them to be better. I dunno.
Well, good for you for giving old Jodi the staredown right back! I would have too. I would've stared daggers at her, when the jury was not in the room, of course.
Interesting. I wonder what was in the interview he had with her in January that she wanted to keep out of the public? Did that interview air at all, even if in pieces?

Snipped for space:
The defense team seems to have behaved extremely unprofessionally, I agree. Now, this is the first trial I can remember watching a lot of, since the OJ trial back in HS (sadly I VCR'ed it so I wouldn't miss anything), so maybe Nurmi and Willmott are not excessively unprofessional, but it sure seemed that way.
I've wondered about the gun as well, and someone mentioned a few pages back about why would Jodi stage the robbery? On the face of it, it makes sense, so that she can say "well we don't have that gun anymore cause some bad guys took it", but then, it looks awfully shady since it was the same caliber that was used to shoot Travis, and it's not a popular caliber with most criminals.
As you said, the phoney robbery just calls attention to the fact that there was a gun in Jodi's home that matched the bullet found in Travis. So, I can only think of 2 reasons.
1. Jodi claims Travis had visited her at her grandparents house. IF he did, they grandpa likely knew him and that Jodi was visiting Travis and trying to have a relationship with him. Since the gun was apparently kept in a dresser drawer (for personal protection?) grandpa would've likely noticed it go missing. When he heard about Travis' death and the caliber used to shoot him, he no doubt would've put 2-and-2 together. Did Jodi think grandpa would turn her in? Is he still alive? I notice that although grandma attended the trial, we haven't heard anything from grandpa.
2. Jodi figured that wherever she stashed/discarded the gun, it might be found. If so, she could say "Well look we filed a report that it was stolen, so maybe whoever stole it was the ninja who killed Travis!" The problem with that is, I believe it's been said that gun was unregistered, so even if it was found, it likely could not be traced back to Grandpa Arias. It's possible Jodi didn't know that though. And it's possible that even if she tried to wipe her fingerprints off, she might not have done a very good job.
Yeah, Dan visited Jodi a few times. I don't think that would be a very good move by the DT anyways though, because Dan did speak out rather recently.
Read more: http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/region...#ixzz2TSRzLneO?Whey started the questioning that?s when I realized they were trying to paint Travis as the bad guy. Sitting on the stand, I kind of smiled because I knew that wouldn't work. He was a good guy - there wasn't anything bad in anything I ever saw,? recalled Freeman.
Freeman remembers looking over to Arias wondering what was she thinking, but only got a blank stare in return.
He also recalls looking over at Prosecutor Juan Martinez chuckling with Detective Estaban Flores. He said he knew Martinez was about to make him a witness for the prosecution and he welcomed it.
?At least it crossed my mind and whether or not it crossed his I don't know. But what crossed my mind was he realized I was just telling the truth and that I wasn't for the defense and that most of what I said he could actually use,? Freeman told ABC15
Arias? final story that Alexander physically, emotionally and sexually abused her was too much for Freeman.
?To me, I see someone who was a good man being dragged through the mud. We all have our weaknesses; we all have the things in our lives that we struggle with that are vices and it's not often that we have all our vices and dirty laundry dragged out for the whole world to see.?
In court, Freeman told jurors Arias and Alexander fought, but nothing out of the ordinary from a typical couple.
He said Alexander wanted to move on, but Arias just kept coming around and Alexander had trouble saying ?no? to her.
"When you're living a lifestyle that conflicts with your belief's to the degree with what Travis was doing, to me, that was why he said he couldn't marry her. He told me that before he said 'I love her, I care about her, but I can't marry her.'?
And as for Arias? latest claims in court, Freeman shakes his head.
?I don't believe her story. He (Travis) was murdered.?

No, he didn't release any of it. Maybe he will after she's sentenced
Daryl Brewer going to appear for JA per Beth K HLN
Thank you, I missed that. I wonder what was in the interview that we didn't hear, that Jodi doesn't want publicized?
It's interesting how easily she was able to manipulate all her co-prisoners. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that in the free world, all the females in Travis' life knew something was off with Jodi right away, while it was the men who were fooled for a while. Yet, these prisoners have all fallen for her b.s. hook, line and sinker.
I can only guess that those who rally around Jodi in prison are of a similar stripe; criminals who don't think they did anything wrong; someone else was to blame and they're all innocent victims.
Perhaps, Jodi also tailored her act to her new "audience" and appealed to them in ways that she knew she could manipulate them with.
As to whether the journalist will release what he has after she's sentenced, I'm kind of torn. Journalistic integrity would suggest that if he promised to keep it confidential, then he should. Although, considering we are talking about a convicted cold-blooded murderer here, perhaps it's for the public good to get an insight to her mind and thoughts.
Interesting. I assume he'll go on about how Jodi was so good with his son, blah blah blah. And obviously if she liked kids, she couldn't be a bad person; nevermind that she is a cold-blooded murderer. SMH
It's amazing to me how some of these exes of hers are still under Jodi's spell. Any one of them could've easily found themselves in Travis' place. Lucky for them, Jodi decided they weren't good enough for her; she kept trying to climb the social ladder, and Travis had the lifestyle that none of them could give her.
Although this trial has been a circus in and of itself, I'm kind of curious as to whether Bobby The Vampire Slayer is actually going to put out a book. It would be interesting to hear his take on Jodi and their relationship, because from what little we know so far, it doesn't seem like it would favorable to her.

Did you see The Addams Family? Wednesday says when asked what she is for Halloween, (she isn't in costume)she says something like she "is going as a homicidal maniac, they look like everyone else"
Dear Lord, I pray this is a NO. I will pull my fingernails out with pliers.
I think this phase will be interesting and painful to watch at the same time. I don't think I have ever watched a trial go this far. I just hope that the Alexander family will see the justice they need to move forward. I also think if the defense does get to ask the family questions, they do it with some class. If they do not, Jodi will get DP. IMO. Although, my opinion of this jury is that the defense is in a Catch-22.
Lastly, I think it would be an EPIC mistake to bring Alyce back. Clearly she wasn't credible. However, I can see the defense calling her back to talk about how Jodi's family of origin. However, it will again be based only on what Jodi says. I don't think the defense has much else really.
sorry dizzy, I have to disagree on this one. Jury doesn't know if he is on camera or not.
With the lynch mob attitudes, I don't blame him actually. What I do blame him for is, lying under oath and worse, being a father who is suppose to be a good example for his son and teaching him values not how to be a liar when a man is slaughtered.
JM has his number. Darryl already coughed up she was irresponible, had changed a lot! Bring him on :) JM knows how to handle these liars.

MissMandy9 blazed the trail! I went four time. The time we did not get in is when we watched in the lobby on phones, and saw Beth and crew afterwards outside, I have the video on my pbucket. pics of faq and me too! I went on a verdict watch day and met up with Ian and Faq. Cocopop put up pics of me and Faq the first time; did not get in second time, third time I was sitting behind grandma in the aisle, croaker day 54 #3 18:47 and 1:20:06 but head is cut off. salmon shirt! Forth time was verdict watch day. Pics of Ian and Faq and me were posted

It's about time! Refresh my memory! Was it Alyce day? You had long hair and said you follow mds? Or were you sitting in front of me in the courtroom, with short blonde hair? I think I mentioned you in my recap of that day!

The man sitting to the right of the gatekeeper, 'Tiger Lady' is the very nice, calm, gentleman who gave up his place to me on verdict day so as to enhance my chances of getting in. He had already seen many days of trial. I didn't get in but that doesn't detract from the generosity of his gesture. He is connected to 'Legal Shield' and gave me his card before we parted at the end of the day.
The second interview with JVM that Denver and I had took place just minutes after the Cruelty verdict was announced. The Jury deliberated for exactly one hour and thirty-three minutes, (according to JVM) and we did the interview just minutes after that.
Trivial details that give the story life and legs! It is a helluva story and I expect the impact of how it all unfolded from beginning to end will stay with all of us for a long time to come.
If anybody wants to read a good book about a comparable murder, read "Internal Combustion" by Joyce Maynard. It's a book about the woman in Detroit who did her automobile engineer husband in. It's a good read with some parallels to the Arias case.
Thanks.
