This is my very first trial watching experience. Excuse my lack of experience but what a day it was!

I hardly slept last night worrying about waking up in time to get downtown. Left the house at 6:30 and geeze, there's rush hour in Phoenix at 6:30! Made it to courthouse and got in line at the doors just before doors were opened to public at 7:30. Went through security and proceeded to 5th floor.

Once I got to the public waiting area I found my place in the seating sequence. There are 40 seats for the public. I got seat 20. Someone immediately sat down in seat 21 and I asked her if she wouldn't mind holding a seat for Ian and she agreed because she knew him.

I certainly don't approve of Juror 8 drinking and driving, but I could understand (to a point) being on that jury causing someone to overindulge. That would be hard to deal with, the length of the trial, the lies, the incompetent witnesses, the horrific photos, being stared down by Jodi, and then to not be able to talk to anyone about it; it had to be rough.

Hey people can do whatever they want, if drinking helps one cope then have at it. But when they harm or could potentially harm/put others in danger then it's an issue.

And it seems to me, and I don`t know how the state`s going to argue this, Beth Karas -- it seems he was shot when he`s already there naked in the shower, down, because the bullet enters from the top above the right eyebrow and lodges downward -- the trajectory is downward -- in the left cheek

For it to deflect via brain matter would rival the JFK magic bullet.

She may have only brought a gun and used a knife at the house.

Even if she got the knife from Travis' house, she still had it on her person prior to initiating the crime. And if you believe the gun shot came first, Jodi still had the knife with her in the bathroom even though she had the gun. Why? Because she was prepared to use it, even though she had a gun.

Whether it's his knife or her knife, doesn't change my "argument". It would be a different story if there was time during the attack that she ran downstairs to grab the knife. But, then you run into another problem. If we believe the shot is first and Jodi didn't have the knife on-hand, then Jodi has to run downstairs and back upstairs to continue to attack a man who would have allegedly been shot in the face, yet unfazed by it. If Travis is mobile and coherent, and Jodi runs down to get a knife, then doesn't Travis run to his room and pick up his phone? Doesn't he get dressed? Wouldn't he have been able to run down the stairs after her?

That knife was in the bathroom -- regardless of whose knife it was -- because she was prepared to use it.

I also tend to believe that she did in fact bring the knife because of the fact that when she tried to run, she had 2 knives in the car.

You could certainly argue that the knife was a backup plan, but, I think it takes a lot more for a person to stab a person (especially that many times, slit a throat etc), than it does to pull a trigger and walk away. Stabbing would be a more visceral experience I would think.

I also think she got off on using that knife to brutally torture him. I think she enjoyed it in a way that a gun shot wouldn't do. Using her hands to snuff out his life. How much more personal of way is there to kill a person than stabbing and slicing?

She wasn't traumatized by what she did, she didn't regret it. She reveled in it. She wanted to relive it. She wanted to see those pictures because she enjoyed her handiwork.

Shooting someone is something that most people could probably do, if they had to, as in self-defense or defense of others. I think there are very few people out there though, who could stab a person to death. Much less anyways, in comparison.

Guys! Well, I'm back sitting by the pool, reading all of your great posts. I thought I might put off reporting back to you until tomorrow, but after reading all that, my conscience wouldn't let me. Let's start at the end and then jump back to the beginning.

The interviews! Please! Stop with the praise. I plan on going back to court tomorrow a.m. and if you keep it up my head will be so swollen that I won't be able to get it through the courthouse door. The interview happened after lunch, while we were all waiting for the jury verdict on the cruelty. Denver and I went back up to the fifth floor and Tiger Lady, who fancies herself some sort of gatekeeper, kept coming up to us and warning us that she was going to report us to the bailiff's, or some such, 'cause we were in the press/family area. There are no rules against that, but she was making her own just to, I suppose, assert her status. I think she thought that we were trying to position ourselves to jump the line, (impossible to do) for the afternoon session, which in itself, if it happened, would only be a reading of the Jury Verdict on the Cruelty since they were in the process of deliberating. I invited her to come talk to the press with us as they had previously invited me to and she retreated. She was so aggravating, that we decided to just get away from her and go downstairs and wait it out in front of the building. Both Denver and I were of the opinion that it wouldn't be long. As soon as we came out of the front doors JVM was standing there. She approached us; asked us where we were from; how we got interested in the trial, etc. We told her that we met through a blog and that our meeting was arranged by another person who participated. JVM asked the name of the site and Denver told her it was MDS. JVM then asked us if we would do an interview, but that she couldn't mention the name of the blog. She also told us that she had lots of interviews in the can but that people were saying mostly the same things and she appreciated our different perspective from the few things we had said to her by way of introduction. Then she asked us to not say anything more 'till she got the cameras rolling 'cause she found that people never said things as well the second time and she wanted our fresh viewpoints on tape. We weren't all that enthusiastic about participating but I, for one, and I think Denver as well, thought of all you guys and thought we owed you one. So, we did that first clip and you saw it. Looks like we didn't bomb totally. When that was done, JVM asked us to stick around for a further interview closer to verdict time. So, a little while later, just before the verdict, we did the second. Our star turn was over. That was our star turn. We hung around on the steps for a little while longer and saw the Alexander family leave, in procession with a sheriff's deputy, followed by some other trial watchers. Wait for it! Tiger Lady was amongst the followers. I have to confess that I am a little apprehensive about what waits in store for them with their new 'close' friends but I suspect that when this is all over and they are able to return to their normal lives, (to the extent that even that's possible), they'll cull the herd or the herd will move on to other grazing sites.

Can I tell you the rest tomorrow? I mean from the beginning of the day up to the JVM interviews? I'm whacked and a good part of that is as a result of the release of the tension and excitement we experienced throughout the day. It was a good day. Truth won! Our truth won! Watching Justice at work, when it works, gives us that lump in our throats.

I was thinking before that she'd end up with life without parole, but now I'm thinking death. After the Casey Anthony trial, I just don't know what to expect from a jury, but I feel like this one sees through all of the bs and they're not playing around.

I heard earlier that the victim impact statements have to be approved by the judge, but any of Jodi's supporters can get up and say whatever they please. That just doesn't seem fair to me. I'd like to see Travis' sibs really let Jodi have it.

Well, like I said, I certainly don't approve of drinking and driving. I just could imagine that maybe this was a one-time thing and he had one too many. Yes, still very irresponsible, no doubt about it.



With regards to Biggie and the gun shot path, the bullet certainly had to hit the brain. I don't believe it was a "magic bullet", but simply too much decomposition to give definitive proof. Far from unfazed. Barely mobile and not very coherent with a bullet in his cheek. Thus could not fend off the knife attack the way he would have if it was first. Doesn't matter where the knife was she had the time to get it because he was trying to figure out what happened. She mentioned he was screaming on all 4's during the ninja story. I believe he was screaming on all 4's from the bullet wound before he was able to stand and stagger to the sink. They actually had a forensic guy on HLN at 9:00 with that same theory. He could very well have uttered 'you effing bitch' or whatever she said, (that he said) on the stand as she was going for the knife (another case where it sounds like a lie but there could be truth to it).
