Agreed. This is what makes this case so fascinating to me. Usually I have a pretty good lie detector, but not with her.

I always found that statement hinky as well. I think there is almost always a kernel of truth mixed in with most stories Jodi tells. That comment always struck me as one of the kernals. Partly it was just a gut reaction, but you make a good point about how specific it is. And that blog post from the nurse seems to seal the deal as far as accuracy. Thanks for posting that link.

That also brings me to another question... why is it that Jodi mixes in these kernels of truth in her sea of lies? Almost every story she tells seems to me to have at least a kernel of truth in it. Why does she bother? I am honestly curious. She clearly has no trouble making up endless lies, so what is the point of the kernels of truth? Do they make it easier to remember?

I think that it makes the lie easier to tell and easier to remember.

I always felt that the "can't feel my legs" statement was one of the kernals of truth. I also think that she tried to shoot him first but couldn't get the gun to work, hence the "jammed gun" in the ninja story. It was then she went for the knife. When she was done stabbing him to death and slitting his throat, she was able to tinker with the gun and get it to work, shooting him in the head as a sort of "fuck you, I got the gun to work".

I expect the jury to deliberate maybe five minutes at the most before finding unanimously that there was cruelty. It's a total no-brainer.

Yep. We *should* know by the end of the day. But we all know its going to go to the next phase.

I believe all Juan has to do is put the photos' of Travis up there and say "I rest my case" That in itself would get the job done. I can't wait to see what Jodi says when she is pleading to spare her life. Can she manufacture some tears? I think it's a bit late to say she is sorry since she has never really had any remorse except for herself.

She also stated she found a website for it that she was on checking it out. That's how she knew where to cause the most damage. For the life of me I can't remember where I heard her describing the entire situation. Does anyone else even vaguely remember that?

IIRC, they looked at the ad on the internet and talked about going, but I don't think they ended up going. It was at the Arizona Science Center in downtown Phoenix, I think it 2008. I went to see it there.

Have to laugh, Willmutt and Nurmi are early and sitting in court (they can't wait to get this thing started and get rid of their client) no Juan and no Arias there yet.

One last thought before the thread goes apeshit...today will tell the tale of whether she really wants the DP. If she does, the defense will say 'no questions' when it is their turn to cross-examine.

I suspect she is going for the 'gold ring' of a possible life w/parole after 25 years sentence from the judge after two hung juries in the next (penalty) phase. We will see...

I know! Why bother! I find this infuriating! My theory is, that she thinks, it will provide some sort of corroboration for her lies to the listener! E.g. The 'Travis chasing a naked child pic/story'. There were others there! I wonder if she thinks that they will look at that example, and dismiss everything they know to be true about Travis and say:
"Well hell yeah! We saw him chasing the child, but we didn't know he was a pedo!! Thanks Jodi!"

I know she very likely incorporates kernels of truth into lies where there were no witnesses, but it's just a thought.

One reporters on HLN just put a new spin on the trial. Jodi has the right to state she wants the death penalty, trial will stop while she's evaluated for competency of that statement. That messes up her defense case.

Jodi says set me free by killing me in hopes the jury won't give her what she's asking for and they will give her life. I have developed an extreme hatred for her.

If Jodi sincerely wants the death penalty, all she has to do is get on the stand and say "I killed him, I thought about it for weeks and I made it as painful for him as I possibly could." She could even go on to give every detail but that will never happen because she doesn't want the death penalty, it's just more of her bullshit head games.

She is a very smooth liar, and is able to lie with a great amount of apparent sincerity, which will fool a lot of people a lot of the time. I think you could be right about the lie detector test, since responses indicating a lie tend to be based on physical responses most humans have when they feel fearful or guilty about telling a lie. Since Jodi has no conscience at all, I think it is possible she would not have the normal, human physical responses when telling a lie.
