See, when I was in HS we would read the books then watch the movie and compare and discuss. We watched parts of all 4 versions of Hamlet and compared not only the book, but the different versions of the movies. I think that's best. The older version of R&J has nudity, so that's funny to me that kids would rather see the newer version.

ETA: I'm with green, I liked the Baz movie too. Maybe its because it came out when I was in high school and thought Leo DeCaprio was a hottie, but thats beside the point

Rockabilly- Yep. Physically I feel great. Mentally I go through spurts of being angry and crying for no reason. Today was waaay better than yesterday.

Faq, I tried to quit cold turkey while maintaining the couple of glasses of wine I usually share with my husband when he gets off work. I wound up lying on the floor craving cigarettes so much that I could hardly breathe. I whined and bitched in a way that I don't care to describe beyond that. Then I went out for a pack of cigarettes.

I have now realized that (for me) quitting smoking goes with quitting drinking, and there's no middle ground.

On the brighter side, I did quit smoking for 7 years before I started again, and wasn't drinking at all when I quit. When I did drink after I had adjusted to being a non-smoker, it didn't even occur to me to want to smoke, even when I was around people who were smoking.

I take Wellbutrin for anxiety/ADHD. I like it and I've only wanted to kill like 2 or 3 people since I started taking it. Fortunately for me, it was never myself.

I worked in pharmacy for 20 years. It's well known in the pharm. that Chantix is a very reliable aide. Wellbutrin is an antidepressant and is also reliable. (Zyban is just Wellbutrin repackaged) Most antidepressants will cause sexual dysfunction. There is some little known advise for overcoming that particular side effect. You have to seriously work it out. Beat it out of yourself (if you know what i mean) It might take a day or two, but you won't have that side effect any longer if you do.

The pharmacy's argument on Chantix is that most people feel depressed, irritable, etc. when they go cold turkey without any medication. There is speculation if taking Chantix is really what is causing this or is it that these side effects are from smoking cessation alone. Most people who quit smoking are going to be irritable. Chantix is really the only good drug on the market that helps people quit. :)

Nestlie- unfortunatley, there are a small percentage of people who have commited suicide while on Chantix. There is a small percentage of people that have also commited suicide on Wellbutrin (or any SSRI for that matter) each person is different. And when taking these drugs, one needs to tune into their own feelings to recognize changes in their moods. Especially if suicide is creeping into their brain. That's how you know when to call your doc to let them know what's going on with yourself.

If he ever knows I said anything he'll shoot me - but husband will never be going back on Prozac for that very reason. He's on welbutrin and he finds it helps him focus a lot more.

Yes, that really happened. & he'd left to get something from the staffroom just before the final credits, so it had a good 15mins screentime before he burst through the door red-faced & stuttering. Rumours got back to parents & senior staff, but it was such an OUTRAGEOUS story!! Not a single adult believed it was possible.


Coincidentally, my 13yr old came home today with a permission note to watch Gladiator (oh joy, Russell fucking Crowe in the classroom, the perfect role model for adolescent boys, at least it's not Romper Stomper, I guess). Not sure how your film classification works, but I think in our public schools even if it's completely tame, they're legally required to get the permission notes done if there's any overlap between the minimum age of the film's rating & the minimum age of the kid's in the class that are going to view it (apologies if someone addressed that bit already, should've checked before I tacked it on the end of my off- topic post).

I agree that it's totally psychological. Physically I feel awesome...i can breathe better, my stomach doesn't hurt constantly, i'm not tired all day, I just overall feel better. But I want to slap a bitch. And then cry about it.

I took an antibiotic that I had a similar reaction to rockabilly. My husband at the time was legit afraid of me. On the commercials for chantix they list a bunch of psych type side effects. I'm crazy enough...do not want.

Now that gives me the kind of motivation I need to attempt to stop smoking. Sorry I am late to the conversation, but hearing about you feeling better is what gives me encouragement. I got psycho when I went 3 days without smoking several years ago. Do you or anybody have opinions or experience with e-cigs? I am desperate to quit and have tried everything. I cut down to half of what I was smoking this winter, but I still feel like shit.

Congrats to all of you who have been successful, and any tips or advice offered will be greatly appreciated. Sorry I am late to this conversation, but it is an important topic and I am thrilled when I hear about people who quit smoking.

If you need any tips/advice on how to make the experience less shitty pm me, I may be able to help. I should also add that out of all the smokers in my friends and family, people thought I would be the last person to quit. I loved my cigs.

I quit about 10 yrs ago. I keep threatening to start again so I can quit again and have everyone tell me how proud they are of me.
I tried to quit over 7 times, the 8th took. I challenged myself to go an hour w/out smoking, then 2, then 4, then 6, then 8, etc. until I got to the point that I had gone days and not missed it. I did use the last of the patches, the lowest one, for the first week to take the edge off. It helped to have someone tell me they'd believe I quit when I'd gone a month. It pissed me off enough to keep going.
my only advice? if you try and don't succeed just keep on trying until you do.

My sister quit on Zyban (which is a lower dose of Wellbutrin). She gained about 50 pounds.

I got a blu cig, seemed like a great idea at first but I found that it was just a good supplement in addition to real cigs. I might try it again though, it worked great when at bars because you can't smoke at most here in Phoenix unless you want to be outside in the heat.

I think one of the problems is now that the forum is boogered up posts are missed. I have to scroll up to make sure I haven't missed any posts. I can open a thread, read it, close it out, come back a few minutes or hours later, open it up, and it opens up in a weird spot. It can be pages behind. Maybe not everyone had figured it out that the threads are not opening up on the 'last post read' like it used to do. It's cool with me because the forum works better, but I do forget sometimes.

Now, I know some people do have problems reading threads, so I am not saying this is why some people are repeating what has already been posted, but it may be contributing for others who normally don't miss a beat.

TY. I no longer take cigs when I go out for short periods of time. I am often amazed when I am busy outdoors and hours go by without any cravings. It's difficult at night, but I think trying to monitor and go without for short intervals may help.

Anybody have success with electonic cigarettes? I have been wanting to try them but have not heard whether or not they are effective.
