Angie, I hope people don't feel unwelcome. A lot of people don't know they are from the Jodi thread cuz they don't read it so they could post elsewhere and no one would know.There are a lot of great people to get to know on here! And same goes for the Jodi thread. Several people have come out of hiding and posted elsewhere and people have been very kind to them.
I absolutely hope all the fucking wacky annoying assholes who don't think forum rules apply to them and throw fits whenever they're asked to not act like psycho dickheads disappear as soon as the Jodi verdict is in. Fuck that boring horrible shit.
a lot of people have been venturing out and it's been ok so far... perhaps the jodi thread is like the bermuda triangle? you go in and get lost 'cause all your controls are scrambled? if you make it out, your brain resets to normal?

Actually, I think that's what happened mostly. I was reading the main thread one day and someone whom I will not name, went went into another thread separate of Jodi thread and posted something that I thought was pretty much on topic. That person whom I will not name, got the verbal beating of a lifetime. I think that happened and then several regulars reported going to other threads and seeing what they thought about the Jodi thread and people that follow it. I ventured out and saw some of the same thing but eventually decided that I would fight back with wit, valid points and the desire to stick up for some of the fine people I have met in that thread. Not that some need it as they are more than capable of defending themselvesAngie, I hope people don't feel unwelcome. A lot of people don't know they are from the Jodi thread cuz they don't read it so they could post elsewhere and no one would know.It hasn't always been pleasant but I think I am slowly earning respect. I never bring a knife to a gun fight!
ETA I like MDS too and plan to stick around. Lots of interesting other threads to venture into!

There are like at least eight actively horrible people that I hate from that thread who are largely banned now because they were total spazzes who couldn't follow any rules and responded to warnings with snide, shitty behavior. But there are a lot of bad things starting up in other threads, especially pEOPLE WHO DO NOT READ THREADS and just post the same shit that's been discussed ages ago.

What's funny is that since I haven't read that thread in months, I don't even know if someone is from there...until they don't shut up about it.

ETA: this kinda sounds like problem solved... as they come out and they are banned by bowie for stupidity and assholism. the ones that are sane end up flying below the radar and are eventually integrated into the wonderful world of MDS.

I haven't ventured too far out of the Jodi threads, as I log on and it takes me an hour to catch up, and then there's far too much to comment on to even comment. I'm sure some of us newbies will stick. And try to follow all the rules.
so far (from this post), you're a good one. i think the participation trophies are currently handed out via the rep system, which used to be a good indicator of how intelligent, informative, creative and funny your posts are... but i digress.
my advice to you is to sign on for the more current threads. you'll find the topics are interesting and easy to follow. you'll also find that following these threads and cutting out the jodi thread also leaves you time to shower.
FAQ, I'm not sure if we are talking about the same incident but if it's the one I am thinking, even a regular poster would have gotten a verbal beating for saying what was said. I think all of us have gotten a verbal beating at least once.

Quite the Contraryi've posted about 50 times in the jodi thread since the trial began and it went all wacky. i check in every so often and when i do, there is always an active fight going on... so i post a joking comment about coming to the thread to watch the fights and i get smited. it's hard not to think the people in the jodi thread are wack-a-doo.
now, you may say i deserved the smite for posting off topic, but why should i adhere to the rules when no one else does? it's gotten to a point where the noobs in that thread will do their best to make people who have been around longer feel unwelcome there.
i really try to be nice, and i've said it before... i have no clue if you are from the jodi thread when you post in other threads. your participation in the jodi thread does not dictate how i feel about you on the outside!
BTW... yesterday was my 1-year MDS anniversary and i missed it.
