I think the main problem with the Jodi thread is that's it is like a twitter thread. It moves as fast as twitter. Plus, the conversation gets off topic like twitter.
I've re-read several old threads on here and the one thing that is very clear-it's not cool to make a thread a chat thread. There are so many post per hour-that it is almost impossible to keep up with.
One good example that I will give somebody if they want to see- Go back 10 pages in the thread. Make note of every post and user that posts. What you will see is a lot of post repeat the same information. (that proves that NOBODY is reading back in threads when there are multiple repeat posts) Bob may post a very good link of an article, but over the coarse of the day, at least 10 other people will post the link like they just found it. Then there are 10 more post quoting that article saying "thanks"- Personally, when somebody posts great information....I just rep them and say thanks in their reps.
Another example- There are some people that post many, many times-pretty much right in a row. I realize some may have a hard time working the quote system, but really, if people are going to join a forum, they should take time to find out how to do things on the forum.
I know some think the old timers on here are being hard on the Jodi people. Well, that's not exactly true. If you read some of the other "hot" topics on here, you will see sometimes even the old timers get in trouble for acting crazy sometimes.
I actually think the owner/admin/mods/old timers have been very lenient and nice about the Jodi thread. I'm not trying to kiss ass, but just read any other thread. They have all bent over backwards to be accommodating to all the new people in the Jodi thread.
I would encourage anyone that is new....explore this site. There are some very good threads on here. For real, there is like a thread for everything. BTW, I think there are some wonderful posters in the Jodi thread. Thankfully, I've seen some have ventured out in other threads. If you only post in the Jodi thread, it's really hard to see what you are like if you are mixed in with crazy.
Just my 2 cents as a newbie myself.
Ron, that was the other thread! Haha!
Well, put Berm. The REP system is great for thanking someone for contributing without clogging up the thread. I know we have all been guilty of it though, or my favorite "^^^ This too", love that one.
Gotta say, I didn't agree with him plenty of the time but he did bring an element to the thread that was interesting. His thoughts were pretty well written unlike some others that get more praise.
Excellent post!! I don''t (but I really do) expect new folks to read a 3,000 page thread although many of us do read each post or at least skim and know whats been posted already. I did get irritated when a newer person posted on the decomp smell that was just recently talked about about 50 pages back. I made a snarky comment and apologized for said snarky comment.

Out, damned spot! out, I say! .... Here?s the smell of the blood still: all the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand!

I did the same thing and was fascinated. I never took part in or even saw this type of forum before, and I couldn't stop reading. I don't remember how long it took me, but it feels like it was ages ago. Hard to believe it has only been a couple of months. I read the new posts every morning while I have coffee, and I really should know better by now. Cleaning up coffee has become a regular part of my morning routine.
i've posted about 50 times in the jodi thread since the trial began and it went all wacky. i check in every so often and when i do, there is always an active fight going on... so i post a joking comment about coming to the thread to watch the fights and i get smited. it's hard not to think the people in the jodi thread are wack-a-doo.
now, you may say i deserved the smite for posting off topic, but why should i adhere to the rules when no one else does? it's gotten to a point where the noobs in that thread will do their best to make people who have been around longer feel unwelcome there.
i really try to be nice, and i've said it before... i have no clue if you are from the jodi thread when you post in other threads. your participation in the jodi thread does not dictate how i feel about you on the outside!
BTW... yesterday was my 1-year MDS anniversary and i missed it.![]()
When MDS opened the second Jodi thread, this was part of his post.
There's nothing funny about fighting, as it could get the thread locked. A lot of people enjoy that thread, that's why it's so popular. Please don't encourage fighting by treating it as the Roman Colosseum. Please remember to stay on topic. Don't make it harder for your fellow posters to keep up by derailing the thread with off-topic chatter. Blatantly off-topic posts will be deleted. Be nice to other forum members. All opinions and theories are acceptable. Just because someone has a different opinion than your own doesn't make it wrong. Keep all disagreements civil and do not resort to name calling, flame wars, smite attacks, or other pissing matches. Thanks!
Oh my God. On the one hand, I agree with Bowie that assholes behaving like assholes shouldn't surprise me, but somehow, it still does.
Personally, I think that when Jodi accused Travis of pedophilia, that's what did her in. The story was over the top, unbelievable and it unveiled her as the totally remorseless psychopath that she is. Likewise, IMHO, attacking the victim's family during the mitigation phase can only backfire on her. So go for it Jodi.

them's the rules for every thread.
anyways... if you had taken time to read the thread, wayyyyy back when i was a semi-regular poster there, you would have seen that i have not always had such a jaded opinion of it. you'd have seen that i contributed many, many on topic posts and i made many, many attempts to ask posters to be civil and polite.
but i'm sure you have no idea about my posting style or my likes and dislikes about the topic because i gave the fuck up after being so frustrated by the lack of adherence to the rules, constant body shaming and general fuckery.
you are one of three posters who have ever smited me. dimples and glasshat... you keep great company.
