If she does sign her rights away and just take the death penalty, will there still be victim impact statements, or is this her one way to avoid facing the family?

We don't know that she "lost it" at all. This is all speculation driven by the media.

She would have been on put on suicide watch automatically after her conviction on first degree murder anyway. Her media interview last night certainly didn't help.

She is a manipulator and she's proving that right now!

So as cold as this might sound I say "Fuck a bunch of Jodi Arias's lies/manipulations and fuck her". She's been threatening to off herself for 15 years or more. Do you really think she doesn't love, just love, all of this attention?

Just because Jodi moved the finish line, their time will come...I don't doubt the Alexanders will finish this with the class we've all seen in the courtroom.

    A segue:

Something I found strange was HLN last night when Jodi's family left for the night there were 7 plus women and only 1 man with them in the entourage.
I would guess that the women in the family were there to support Jodi's mother, not Jodi. The man put his arm up to hold photographers at bay, but I didn't get the feeling he was necessarily a part of the group.

They can get her to the point where she can aid in her own defense within 4-5 days. She doesn't have to be kayoed to be in court.

    So many questions!!!
I understood it to be suicidal hold. Watch simply means that the officer or psychiatric tech sits in a defined distance (usually arm's length) and watches. usually there is policies that dictate how to watch (meaning they must have their eyes on the prisoner and nothing else) I think they mean "hold" which means the laws governing suicidality dictate a 48 or 72 hour hold to evaluate whether or not the person is a danger to themselves or other by virtue of a mental disorder. The person can be held against their will. Dangerousness is not delineated according to a criminal ideology but rather to a diagnosable mental disorder.

I would imagine she might get medication, but the medications selected will target behaviors.

I am guessing it is a little bit of both. I think her sentence was a shock. Its almost like she is delusional, her perception continued to be that Travis is the bad guy. Look she held it together for about 4 hours after the verdict.

The psychiatric staff would work with her to see her mother, they are going to do everything possible to get her ready for court. This is why I believe she is unable to see them. In my experience, family never respond well when seeing someone in four point restraints.

I guess this is where dependent upon her diagnosis and what you believe dictates her actions. I believe she is a BPD with sociopathic characteristics when under stress. To me, she can have psychopathic, histrionic and all the cluster B traits plus a smattering of other stuff, but her core is BPD.

According to the laws of health care confidentiality, we might never know. Health and mental health care providers fear lawsuits surrounding HIPPA. Mental health, substance abuse and HIV laws of confidentiality are much more restrictive than regular HIPPA laws.

Yes, but you gotta make them safe first to be able to medicate them.

I think next Wednesday is going to be the next phase whether she likes it or not. They'll medicate her or shackle her or do whatever the hell they have to do to get her to cooperate. This week she will begin to be "institutionalized" and I don't think she's going to like the consequences if she doesn't buck up. Welcome to the Green Mile, Miss Jodi.
Im sure this is part of the mix too!

Judge needs to deny, deny, deny!
Like most of you, I feel that Jodi and her defense team has been given far more than a fair trial so far, and TA's family deserves the same fairness. Hope the judge throws it out and give the family a VOICE to speak in person in the court, not via videotape.

When someone is convicted of a crime, it is typical for them to be cuffed and remanded to the custody of the guards and immediately whisked away. Why did this not happen? Jodi belonged to the prison system, from the moment that sentence was pronounced. Her freedom of speech flew out the window. There is something wrong, here. Why was she allowed to sit and chat with the media before being transferred out? WTF is wrong with this "reporter"......he knew it was wrong. Someone's head is going to roll for this.....the people of AZ should be demanding it.
I hated seeing her walking into the cell for this interview, without handcuffs! She has just been comvicted of 1st degree murder not writing a bad check! I wonder if the juror that earned himself a DUI was handcuffed when he was arrested...

WOW! What fucking NERVE they have. I hope this Judge says "denied" They have tried to stifle the Alexander family since this case began. Tried to stop them from wearing their ribbons. Now, trying to deny them the right to give their victim impact statements before the court?? Jodi was allowed to ramble her jaw off for 18 days, while the family had to sit there and listen. They had to endure agony of the testimony, evidence.....and they did so with remarkable grace. She did this. She caused this. The jury said so....GUILTY of murder in the 1st. As long as the judge provides protection for Jodi, so that the family can't kill her (and do us all a favor), they have the RIGHT to speak about how this has impacted their lives because that is most certainly important for the jury to hear. This is a time when emotion and the rights of the victim outweigh any rights of hers. The judge will caution them to hold their behavior in check, and there is NO reason for the court to doubt that they won't.....they have already demonstrated that they can certainly do that. Someone needs to grab her, on the way to her cell, and snap her fucking neck. UGH She was so brave when she wielded her weapons against an unarmed and innocent man......she needs to face the music, now. What a POS she is.

In the conclusion, on the last page, it mentions that they want the victim impact statements so that objections can be raised in advance. You know the Defense would be trying to only allow certain clips of the videotapes to be played. That's awful if the family isn't allowed to say all they want to say. It's also awful, if they are allowed to give their statements live in court and the defense is objecting throughout their statement. Ugh.

You just gave all the reasons that this motion will be denied. I see this as another Hodi trick to get her way.
This judge has not maintained a great courtroom atmosphere, IMHO, but keep in mind she is elected to the bench. If she granted this motion, it would be over for her. I am sure she is aware of this fact and she won't even consider it.

    Again, just my opinion.

My guess? She lost it and the loss of control over her situation pushed her over. This is a woman who went into a homicidal rage and killed a man when she didn't get her way. I think after this interview, she either fired her DT or they told her they were done with her ass.
She did this before when she thought she could represent herself.... It is all about her and she does not do well with any type of self-responsibility.

It is obvious the jury doesn't believe her and this stunt will not help her in the long run. This bitch is going down either way and all Juan has to do is hit the play button and show last night's interview.

Frankly, the picture of JA in that lovely garment wearing a diaper gives me great joy!

In the very near future, all thoughts of Stabby will be gone and only the memory of Travis will remain. We will be in the dog days of Summer very soon, enjoying family, friends, cocktails, and good food. Jodi Arias will be in a concrete cell, with recycled air and a metal toliet for company.

That's right. So basically, if we don't find out what happened we'll know. Otherwise, it'll be leaked or become part of the public record at some point.

Exactly....if she wanted to commit suicide she would have done it a long time ago....PLUS she wouldn't be yapping about it nonstop. AND if she is to be <cough cough> believed <cough cough> when she tried to kill herself in jail....she had to stop because the razor stung her when she tried.

    I third that emotion!

It would be swell if the Judge could even see the bus... I have never seen this kind of a circus in a trial or a judge so clearly in over her head.

I'm watching her post conviction interview. Who the fuck would say, "if I'd been honest from the beginning" as opposed to "if I'd never fucking gone there that night!"

To her the "beginning" of this tragedy is after she'd slaughtered TA! What a narcissistic, three nasty hole, skank! If there were any DP holdouts before this little bullshit stunt, I hope this sways their opinion of what she truly deserves.

I think she lost it today

In the video on this page at about the 1min mark they talked about armed security guards going into the court room (along with ones already in there) for some reason

I dont know why they would need extra security inside the courtroom other than to probably contain jodi

I personally am not convinced that Nurmi and Wilmont are not part and parcel of this whole scheme. Wouldn't be surprised at all to hear they helped her plan the entire interview and what ever happened today.

I feel bad for Nancy Grace's husband and keep waiting for her long lost fiance to rise from the grave and reclaim her to give her the life she missed out on. She is as bad as Jodi Arias in a "respectable" sort of way. She's a narcissistic drama queen and it's all about her while she is whining it's all about Jodi Arias.

To her the "beginning" of this tragedy is after she'd slaughtered TA! What a narcissistic, three nasty hole, skank! If there were any DP holdouts before this little bullshit stunt, I hope this sways their opinion of what she truly deserves.
This is exactly what I thought when I heard that! she could have said "if I could change anything I would never have gone to Travis' house". Instead her words are saying "I would have killed him anyway, but I would have gone to the police"
    What a piece of crap.
