Yes. I wonder if she is smart enough to convince the experts she is now crazy. She has a plan..alright.

So, if she is found to be incompetent, what does that mean for the rest of the proceedings? Will there be a new jury due to fallout? Shit. I can just see her trying to outsmart the court system. She is incompetent, she can't assist her attorneys, thus court cannot not move forward.

LOL N. Grace may be loud and obnoxious but she is informed on legal matters. She tried almost 100 cases and didn't lose one... I think a couple have been overturned and retried since but still she knows her facts. I seriously think she suffers from adult ADD... either way her I'm a victim mantra is on my last nerve. I'm sorry the dude was killed but we don't need to hear it multiple times every day. Back to this trial, they already held a hearing for mistrial due to prosecutorial misconduct a couple weeks ago and judge ruled against the defense.

FB: The Alexander family just went back into the witness room. Deanna Reid is with them. Martinez and Flores just left the 5th floor. Arias's grandmother and mother left right after them. #jodiarias

I don't think she will fool the court but she might try. They say on HLN that she might have accepted the death penalty and they would need a strong evaluation so she can never try to reverse her decision. I don't know, I can't see that happening.

She could be trying to waive her rights to this stage of the process, and that would probably warrant a competency hearing to make sure she is of sound mind to be able to make such a decision.

I just spoke to a defense attorney who has been right on in this case in answering my questions. He told me that if the defense can get the judge to make a mistake in this stage of the game, they can try to force a new trial. He also told me that if she had a breakdown, she would need to be evaluated because he needs to be available to assist her attorneys. And, he said the judge would not allow the defense to withdraw, or her to fire them.

The potential effect of this delay is draining the bank accounts of those out of towners who plan to make victims impact statements.

But I've heard the Alexander relief fund is pretty flush and can withstand that.

Yes I think the judge is making sure a mistrial does not happen. As much as I hate JA's fuckery, it makes sense that the judge wouldn't force things when she's on suicide watch, whether its a legit threat or not.

Because FREEDOM is a very valuable thing! Plus, some actually have morals and wouldn't want to commit a crime in order to get there. But I think losing your freedom and your ability to choose for yourself is just huge - that would be what I would hate most.

That went through my head, but man I would also miss GETTING to do those things! No freedom to choose what I do with my time, where I go, who I talk to, what I eat, what I wear...nah I'll deal with the stress of life and maintain my self-reliance anyday! But yeah, at times I can see the appeal...until I think on it for a bit. ;)

Now wouldn't that be nice! But so unlike our selfish Stabby to let the spotlight of her world-broadcast trial go away any earlier than she can possibly drag it out for!

Yes. He did say that Arias cannot do anything to change the underlying jury decision, but the defense could try to force a judge error. Thank god the judge gave the defense everything in this case. I was a little aggravated that she appeared to be on their side, but I now understand she was using precautions to prevent a mistrial, or an overturn on appeal.

The Alexander family have waited five long years for this verdict.

    Stalls, delays, appeals, manouvers.

Just because Jodi moved the finish line, their time will come...I don't doubt the Alexanders will finish this with the class we've all seen in the courtroom.

    A segue:

Something I found strange was HLN last night when Jodi's family left for the night there were 7 plus women and only 1 man with them in the entourage.

I totally agree. Why would give her any legal grounds for an appeal? Not that she won't try.

By the way, I've been reading this forum for a couple of months but never bothered to register..... till I saw on the news that the court was canceled today! Even though she was convicted of 1st degree murder as of yesterday, something told me that she was going to pull some crazy move as long as she could.

My question is, WHAT HAPPENS if she "fakes" and is found incompetent??????
