That lawyer was wrong, family can definitely go for wrongful death suit and she posted below...

12-511. Civil action arising from criminal conduct; definitions

    A. Notwithstanding sections 12-505 and 12-542, if a defendant is charged by a criminal complaint or indictment the statute of limitations for any civil cause of action that is brought by a victim against the defendant for criminal conduct against the victim is extended for one year from the final disposition of the criminal proceedings, regardless of whether the defendant is convicted of criminal conduct against the victim.

So Stabby will soon not be able to profit from her crime, when the family win all of Jodi's money for her ahem, art, will go to the family incl the money from those stupid tee shirts

As my dearly departed grandmother would say "dont get your bowels in an uproar" about Jodi, that interview and whether she wants the death penalty or is using reverse psychology (isnt that manipulation?). It's not up to Jodi anymore, it's up to the jury. What she does, where she goes, the clothing she wears what she eats and when bedtime is, isnt her decision. She is NOT free.

Only was I will believe she wants death is if she stands up tomorrow and tells the jury yes it was cruel, yes I killed him. Give me the death penalty and I will sign away all my rights to appeal right now. We all know that isn't about to happen.

I'm with you. I can't believe she would think anyone would take her word on anything, her reverse psychology has never worked in her favor.

So true. She repulses me, yet, I still look. I guess because she just keeps going on being in her little Jodiland. She does not learn. I would love to see her being interviewed by NG. They were made for each other..

I agree with all of this.

Honestly I think she's just saying it now because she knows JM will show the old 48 Hours interview or whatever where she said she'd want the death penalty IF she had killed Travis. When she said it then, it was a smug/cocky/self-serving thing. "Oh, I wouldn't want to live if I had done that *teehee* I would ask for death but as we all know I didn't kill him *teehee* so it will never come to that."

She probably considers this to be damage control. That's her best effort at showing remorse, but that's not saying much.

First of all, thank you all at MDS for the wonderful coverage & conversation on this board. I'm new & it's been so informative.

I am having a hard time finding the names/pics of Travis' siblings. Where do you have that info?

I don't think she cares either way which penalty she gets, I think her fox-stunt yesterday was to put the focus on her and no one else. me-me-me-me-me is her battle cry.

No surprise, but Fox is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, on felony murder!

    http://video.foxnews.com/v/2366890057001/

They're saying that Juan said, the felony was the stealing of Travis' gun! Not true! He explained, in closing, that this is how you could get to felony murder, IF you happened to believe Jodi's version of events! He was very clear, that the felony he was putting forward in this case, was that the moment Jodi began stabbing Travis, she unlawfully remained in his residence! Get it right Fox!

She even did the hair-curtain in that interview when the guy asked about her mom. Now that was almost hilarious. I want her to talk all day long...in interviews, on the stand. She can bury herself. It worked for her before, e.g., 48 hours. Got her right to M1. Keep talking, Jodi. It's all about you.

With what she says about Travis and his family now, it's so obvious this chick is just pure evil. Personality disorder or not...the underlying quality is evil.

All the jurors voted that it was premeditated murder. Does that mean that the people (seven of them!) who agreed it was also felony murder believe some part of Jodi's story? Or do they just think that, as you said, Jodi remained on Travis's property without his permission after she stabbed him?

thanks for this.. and when she shows up in standard issue prison clothes today any mystique she thought she had will be evaporated. I think she grabbed one last moment in the (TV) spotlight yesterday.. I'm pissed as hell that the judge allowed it... but it was basically the last hurrah for JA.

I was wondering that too, if the ones who voted for felony murder believed Travis did have a gun in the house.

Or maybe they went with the idea of Jodi attempting to destroy Travis's camera? Or maybe they pinned it on the knife? Like maybe they believe Jodi used a knife in Travis's home. I dunno. I'll be interested to hear what they have to say.

Maybe they believe in some way that Travis did assault her, but that it was no longer self-defense after she shot him.

The jaii site is talking about going through all the jurors computers and look to see if they watch HLN and Nancy Grace. They has a sad over there.
What is wrong with me that I feel like going to that site to gloat just a little bit?

All good points! I hope some of the "experts" can further explain this aspect today, and can't wait to hear from the jurors themselves. Seems the aggravation phase today will be brief, and if Jodi refuses to allow the DT to put on any mitigation witnesses (other than herself, can see her declining another "stab" at the limelight), the entire trial might wrap up very soon.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the "felony murder" had anything to do with the gun. It had to do with "once she stabbed him she was no longer welcome in his house and was essentially trespassing" JM made a sarcastic remark in closing about (paraphrase) "If someone was stabbing ME... they would no longer be welcome in my house)

    That's the felony... trespassing.

I apologize if this was asked or answered before, as the forum is huge and virtually impossible to go through. Did anyone happen to get a screen shot or photo of Juan and Det. Flores and Nurmi's reaction when the verdict was read?
