I believe the coroner, or maybe it was Detective Flores, stated that the chest wound was still oozing fluid when Travis' body was found. I also think that just because the heart stopped beating it doesn't mean there was no more blood left in his body. There was evidence of livor mortis, in the autopsy photos, which explains the blue black "bruising of the body" - basically the blood left in the body settling.

Because Jodi claimed self-defense. The trajectory of the bullet is unlikely and nearly impossible with that claim. They can' 100% prove the exact trajectory of the bullet, but common sense suggests that the bullet traveled in a downward angle. Travis would have had to have been much lower than Jodi.

Also, simply going over the evidence again, they may have realized that the wound was inconsistent with an injury when someone is alive. This happens sometimes; evidence that has been looked at dozens of times is sometimes overlooked or dismissed as insignificant, and that turns out to be the key to everything.

I recall a case I watched a few nights ago. The piece of evidence that was overlooked for a while was a pizza box. It turned out to be evidence the police needed to convict the person. That same case, there had been a name written in blood. Police assumed the victim wrote it. The person investigating the crime looked at that evidence for a long time before she noticed a few bumps in the blood. Turns out, it was from a garden glove. The victim wasn't wearing a glove, and there was not glove near the body. The killer had written the name in blood to throw off police, and it almost worked.

So little details can be missed. Theories evolve and change when new evidence is discovered, or when old evidence reveals something that was previously over-looked.

We watched them come out, they looked exhausted to me. I am not a mind reader but it looked like they might not be making progress as much as they expected to. Poor Ian, he wanted to see the courtroom and was told he could by one of the sheriff deputies then told about 2 minutes later by blond bailiff that it wasn't happening. He was a good sport though.
