If she gets convicted, will Willmot and Jurmi be her attorneys for future appeals? or will she be assigned various public defenders?
I'm still bothered by this photo -- always have been.
See how high & tight his legs are crossed? Guys don't readily do that.
Why? Because your junk can get caught in the middle of the thighs and get smashed. It hurts.
And look at the photo 1 minute 10 seconds before:
He's pissed. He's put out. Enough of these photos, this girl. (I swear the shower door looks closed to me here, but no matter)
I do think there's a possibility she shot him after the "pissed off" photo,
And he dropped into that cross-legged position.
Jodi inadvertently snapped the "seated, cross-legged" photo just after the shot -- perhaps trying to get the gun unjammed for another shot.
Why not more blood in the wound? 1) sinus cavity bullet track or 2) she left him in the shower for a long time with the water running over him, washing it out?
I know it's all wayyyy too late.
But the top photo "hurts" me when I see it ... and keeps me wondering?
I dunno. I need some coffee.![]()
If the jury asks for a read back they will hear once again how she says she returned to the same store under cross examination and then again under redirect from Nurmi. I can't believe that Nurmi didn't ask her about this before he did his redirect and coach her not to be so specific, or perhaps he did and she still insisted it was the same store. Either way Nurmi knows his client is a pathological liar and if he took her word for it then he's a bigger idiot than we thought he was.
I don't think even Nurmi could summon the effort to work up empathy for her.
Saying he didn't like his client is an old trick. It's way of trying to say "see I'm just like you". He's saying "it's ok if you don't like her, I don't either but it still doesn't make guilty":
Nurmi kept mentioning the dismissed jurors which I found odd and I was surprised he was allowed to do so.
Please read up on the evidence/facts of the case.
I thought it had to do with the Trans Global Amnesia or Dissociative Amnesia
She might try to use it as appellate issue but she won't be successful.
PTSD, Trans Global Amnesia, Dissociative Amnesia. Samuels was a really shitty witness.
A gas can for $12.96 was frivolous all of a sudden to her but a pedicure/having her hair dyed and strawberry frappe were necessary expense.
After the defense didn't get to have the enhanced photo shopped picture admitted and both sides settled for the stipulation that she was holding the gun or knife when the close up of Travis's face was taken Nurmi dropped it because there was no point. JM wouldn't have mentioned it because what would be the point?
JM hit the important points and if the jury asks for a read back of the rental car guy's testimony it will confirm what JM said.
No way she was ever going to show up at the funeral, she knew people were saying she was the killer by then. She knew that either she would have barred from attending or had her ass kicked by TA's sister if she showed up.
She wouldn't have been able to handle the rejection of being asked to leave if she showed up at the funeral.
She called Flores because was having a bad day. Speaks to her narcissism and her emotional neediness. Also trying to explain to Flores why she wasn't at the funeral so they wouldn't think it was suspicious that she wasn't there. She was trying to think of everything and in doing so to kept incriminating herself.
The purchase on 6/20 at Arco in Benica, California - Benica is the Bay Area. WTF was she doing there? Another hook up with a different guy?
I think Freeman was infatuated with her and she played him like fiddle. It took him until Dec 2008 to finally realize she was the killer. He visited her several times after she was returned to AZ and in jail.
He questioned her about it a little bit under cross exam but I don't think it was important to his case over all
I think Nurmi was trying to imply that the items in the wash would have had bleach stains/spots on them. But it could have been color safe bleach.
Nurmi's whole closing argument was victim bashing and vile innuendo and a whole bunch of smoke and fog.
^That
The "selfie pics" after she got her hair dyed in Salinas.
The fact her left finger was bandaged when she showed up in Utah
And as DumbSisterAngela said "ultimately it will be all her lies that bring her down"
His legs are crossed. He's sitting with his knees bent. It's just the weird angle of the photo.
Ok after taking in Nurmi's closing, I am convinced he really does hate Killer and wants her to die. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt his closing was set up so the jurors would sentence her to death. He can't really be that incompetent to say the things he said in his closing. Ok wait, it's Nurmi we are talking about.
*snipped for space*
Are you thinking of Hemingway Berm? It is a very powerful book, but Juan was quoting a John Donne poem from the 1600's, 'No Man is an Island', where Hemingway took the title of his book. When he said John Donne, that's the line I thought he was going to use, indicating to the Jury that they would be mutually responsible for their decision, and to rely upon one another while reaching their verdict. Like Brillig said, the poem is open to interpretation, and I was thinking along the lines of what you are saying when he quoted:
"Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee."
i.e, dependance upon one another, society, community etc.
Thank you for this. Don't know if this is good or bad regarding the verdict. I think it's good that the average age works out at 55 years of age, but I don't know if the male to female ratio is beneficial. Hard to tell!
Regarding Nurmi lying to the jury about the gas cans...
This is exactly what I thought but I have a hard time wrapping my head around any attorney doing that intentionally. It would be different if Nurmi were telling "a little white lie" to the jury but this was a huge, completely blatant, lie. Would an attorney jeopardize his reputation by providing an appellate issue to his client with a big fat lie?
It seems as if every person who came into contact with Stabby during this trial has come under her spell and ended up spewing lies under oath on her behalf. Barf. I always felt Stabby was running the show with her defense but I didn't expect the ginormous lies we got from JW or Nurmi.![]()
edit: She was getting gas in Benecia after leaving from the Sacramento Cal airport after returning from Travis's Memorial service (which was on Jun 16) The credit card charge just before the Benicia gas station is $28 for parking at the Sacto Airport.
Initially I said she must have been headed back to Yreka but that is due north of Sacramento on Highway 5. Bencia is 60 southwest of Sacramento so she took quite a detour before going back north to Yreka. Maybe to visit the guy she "hooked-up" with and exchanged #'s with on the flight back from Arizona? you never know

One thing I've got to say about Nurmi - I have never even seen him GLANCE at Jodi Arias the entire time or talk to her. I respect him for that. He was just going through the motions, playing the game, but that guy wants her to burn like the rest of us :)
As shown in this video, Nurmi pays Jodi NO REGARD what-so-ever. Gotta respect that :)
I think the gender make-up of the jury works in the favor of the defense, as does the average age. However, there is so much evidence against Stabby, that to suspend disbelief of guilt is just absurd. After re-watching some of Nurmi's closing, I am even more insulted at the arrogance than ever!
The whole dragging Travis through the shit is repugnant, but then to say that Jodi is too smart to have such a fucked up scene is just outrageous.
Think about it. On paper, this murder wasn't too badly planned: No eye-witnesses and virtually no electronic trace of her being in Mesa. Add to that Stabby's gigantic ego, her ability to lie, and manipulate and she never thought she would get caught.
Too smart my ass.
The convenience of the gun and the knife in the bathroom. Really? REALLY? Jodi's story is so thin you can see through it. No reasonable person would believe that Jodi could or would grab a gun and shoot someone, and then feel so threatened by that person that they would have to go get a knife and stab him 28 times and slit his throat. It just does not make any sense. Even with a "heat of passion" argument, it's just too weird that the knife and gun were in such easy reach for her, and that she managed to get both without sustaining any injuries herself.
What helps the prosecution theory so much is the odd combination of wounds, the unlikely probability of both weapons being upstairs and in easy reach, and the fact that Jodi lied on the stand to the jury. If Jodi lied about the gas can, then she's probably lying about everything else. There is no reason to trust a damn thing she says, which means her explanation of the knife being upstairs is improbable and unlikely.
The only thing that really concerns me is that Nurmi brought up that three inch piece of a tassel. It would be weird that there was only that little piece of rope left, and I assumed that it was a tassel from like a pillow or curtain, that she might have snagged on her purse or clothing as she fled the scene.
Nurmi suggested that it was part of the rope. I don't suppose Juan rebutted that at all in his closing, did he?
For me, the three strongest points that Juan made from his closing are:
1. Jodi having her cel turned off in Arizona, and then other efforts to cover tracks of being there (gas cans, etc)
2. Jodi killing him three different times (this addresses the issues of premeditation - time to think between each act, as well as issue of self-defense- three attempts aren't necessary if she could run out after any of the 3)
3. Jodi lying to everyone involved- friends, psychologists, on the stand, and directly to jurors
I loved JM's story of the murder that took into account the blood splatter evidence. The blood splatter and blood spills still told a story. He said first stabs were to his front in the middle of the bathroom. The next were the stabs to his back while he is at the sink coughing and trying to breath. The next stabs are to the back of his head with such a force that they chip the bone. The force is great enough it drives his head back and forth. He breaks free, stumbling down the hall, leaning on it to keep him on his feet. We see through the blood smears along the wall that he is dying. he is shocky. He is going down. This is an excellent example of fight or flight.
Over the last couple of days, we learn Jodi manipulated Travis thru suicidal threats should he leave her. he tells his friends who dismiss Jodi's threats that he couldnt live with himself if she actually did it. He is trapped in a Jodi maze. it makes perfect sense to me. All I can imagine is that after taking those pictures in the shower, she got the gun out of her backpack conveniently located in the bathroom. She once again threatened to kill herself, putting the gun up to her temple. Travis, the white knight, leaped at her to grab the gun. They struggle and he is able to take the gun from her. As this happens, Jodi moves to her backpack retrieving the knife. As he tells her how stupid it is that she do that and no, it wont stop him from going to cancun, she slices his belly. He is shocked. Puzzled. Looking down at his wound when she body slams him knocking him to the floor. As he pops up from the ground she stabs him again in his chest, first the heart wound, then the other frontal stabs. He no longer bitches at her, he can't breath. he stumbles to the sink barely standing. And so on.
What? no verdict yet?
he did... he showed the scrap of rope and said there would be blood on the stairs if it got there after the murder. indirectly he furthered the idea that Jodi was basically scrubbed sparkling clean by time she was done with Travis and headed out for date-night with Ryan Burns...

I haven't been able to watch Nurmi's closing yet. Did the jury get the case? Are we in verdict watch?
I am watching the interrogation vids. on tape 7. she crawls and sits under the table! WTF??
this woman Det. Rachel... my god, she can't stop talking! planting the seeds in stabbys defense. Im gettin irritated. and there's like ten more to go.. ugh. stabby has no heart. she is the devil. why didn't this detective realize that stabby wasn't going to talk after the first hour??? why continue to sit there and plant seeds for the following stories, which is what stabby did?
ah, hindsight is 20/20 (sigh)
Question: When the jury continues deliberating on Monday, does Stabby sit in her cell at the courthouse? Does she wait with her DT or family?
He is willing to do the dirty work and shovel the shit, which actually makes him a good defense attorney.
You are projecting your own feelings on another person. You may long for him to feel the same as you, but you have no idea how he feels. Why do others have to think like you? His relationship with Jodi is very different. It is a professional relatioship, with appropriate distance and an approach that allows him to do his job. His personal feelings don't mean anything to the case, unless he decides to make a contived comment in closing arguments for effect.
Wow, good catch. I didn't think about it that way at all. When you leave something open to interpretation like that, you are inviting disaster!
I agree. She has worked her mojo pussy hex over men with great success and she will have a much better chance with a male jury.
Fan fiction (not enough sex)? Or is that your scenario? Sounds like second degree murder to me!
Does anyone know if arias will be able to have pencil and paper in hand during the victim impact statements?? That's what I am waiting for: for the Alexander family to give her a piece of their mind. She always doodles/writes when someone is speaking who's 'not on her side' (ie Martinez and Demarte), and pays full attention when someone like Nirmi or Laviolet speaks. Wish the judge would say, "take that pencil and paper away from her".
