There's nothing wrong with being a waitress; not at all. It just seems that Jodi was constantly job-hopping, and she had no money, yet she was spendy.

We know she lived with Darryl and just completely stopped paying the bills, yet she bought herself breast implants. She lived with him for a while, while he was picking up the "tab". Then she moved in with her grandparent's --where I would guess that she wasn't paying much towards living expenses; yet she was running around taking time off for trips, and yet, her car was being repossessed because she apparently wasn't able to afford to make payments.

Of course, we all know that she got involved with Darryl while she was a waitress and he was her boss, so who knows what he let her get away with, with regards to blowing off work. Whatever was going on there, he actually either was demoted for it, or as he claims, voluntarily accepted a demotion, so he could date her.

There was apparently also something going on when she worked at the Purple Plum, that we were not allowed to hear about, because it was prejudicial to her.

All in all, she gives the impression of a lousy employee who was going from job-to-job, and a lousy person who was going from meal-ticket to meal-ticket, all the while blowing her money who knows where and letting others take care of her.

I really believe she was living with grandma because she wouldn't have to pay rent. Otherwise, why would she? She had no choice, imo. She had left home apparently at a young age, and she tried to shack up with one guy after another, but it wasn't working out.

Thanks for the feedback, NC Blonde. I am not at all convinced Arias is intelligent despite having reasonable verbal skills. Nothing about this creature do I like but I want to be fair to her regarding her work history. One of the things that has jumped out when reading this forum has been the idea that she didn't contrubute financially but there is evidence to suggest she did sometimes. She paid for her own breast implants, and she paid half the mortgage. They both defaulted, yes?

I don't believe anyone is criticizing her choice of being a waitress, per se. Reasonable choice, as she grew up with parents in the restaurant business. But it is an odd career path/choice for someone who clearly believes herself intellectually superior to just about everyone.

She has touted herself as a professional photographer (laughable) and a talented artist (possible,) though she has clearly shown herself unable to remain focused long enough, to stay grounded long enough (literally and figuratively), to hone her artistic skills, e.g. taking art classes, immersing herself in the artistic community, etc. She even at one point expressed a desire to work toward a real estate license, back when she was living with Darryl. She dumped that notion at the same time she dumped him, and just as quickly.

Like having chosen to drop out of high school, despite her clear intelligence, it appears that JA has, historically, chosen to take the lazy way out. Waitressing, for her, was merely a means by which she could minimally support herself while pursuing her vagabond, drifter/grifter lifestyle, taking on and quitting numerous food service related jobs up and down the state of CA for almost a decade.

Thanks for the feedback too, Jingles. Her arrogance and false sense of superiority, I absolutely agree is infuriating. Her artwork is bland tracing and her photography skills do not impress me. Lots of young people drift for a decade from job to job, especially ones without qualifications. Arias did seem to be striving to improve herself - even if it was driven by desperation. PrePaid Legal is an example of that.

A watermelon is not a brain. See Gabby Giffords. She's survived a higher velocity gunshot through her brain, a 9mm Glock to be exact. She can walk and talk. It is certainly possible to be shot in the head and have little to no brain damage. Where have you people been living the last 2 years? In a cave?

Oh, Biggie. I know you're just a troll, but in case anyone else has those same secret feelings as you do, let me explain.

Gabby Giffords nearly died at the scene. In fact, if someone had not been there and known to lift her up so she would not choke on her own blood, she very likely could have died. As it is, she had to have several surgeries to protect her brain, and to protect her airway. She has had months and months and months of rehab in order to be able to be where she's at today in terms of walking and talking.

It is possible for Travis to have survived the bullet wound. That is not really the question here. The question is, "Would Travis have been a true threat to Jodi after being shot?" The answer to that is "Not very likely". It would be almost impossible for him to have been a threat to her. In the very few cases where people have been able to mobilize after being shot in the head, most have required assistance. To believe that Travis was god-like enough to be able to sustain a gun shot wound to the head and face (remember, the bullet traveled through his brain and down into his face) and attack Jodi after such an injury is a giant stretch of the imagination. Especially since we have to believe that Travis only showed his pedophile tendencies to Jodi, and was only abusive to Jodi, and had a gun that only Jodi knew about....

Cliffnotes: Surviving a gun shot does not mean someone would have full cognitive and motor function in order to be a threat.

Just my observation here, but when I pluck a hair from my nose or eyebrow I am unable to function let alone chase my wife down for pulling it out.

They did both default eventually, but as I recall, Darryl's problem was because he could not afford to pay the whole amount. He was never supposed to pay the whole amount, only half. I can't remember the payments, but something about 1200 dollars sticks in my mind. I want to say that was half the payment. So, if Darryl suddenly had to pay 2400 a month in mortgage, instead of 1200, I can see where he'd get into trouble very fast. Even if 1200 was the whole amount, suddenly having to come up with an extra 600 a month would be hard for any to accomplish.

Also, I recall something about Jodi using her credit card to make the payments. I don't know if banks take credit card mortgage payments -- not that I'm aware -- but, I would assume then that she was taking cash advances. If that's the case --either charging or cash advances -- it tells me that she never had the money to make rent even. Responsible people don't take cash advances to pay to keep a roof over their head, in general. Both Jodi and Darryl were in over their heads, and Jodi's response was to just say fuck it and stop paying.
