Thank you so much M Joy! hum, iirc Deanna said, that letter was just a couple months before her mission ended. Then a few weeks after she was home, they hooked up again. So in a few months dating inbetween, we have a guy who can't commit, marrying?

No, you are so very right. Want to see one of them try an actual case and STFU on HLN. Sorry, I just needed to say STFU, but not to you WT.

    On the protection ritual issue:

NC Blonde kindly offered a screenshot of a Facebook post from Thomas Brown, Travis' roommate at the time of the murder. Please pardon me for not quoting the whole post; I'm on my phone. The following is a quote from the screenshot.

" ... Travis was visibly surprised by her phone call saying she was outside. He had no idea she was coming. AND the crazy spiritual prompting to stay up for some sort of protection. I have never felt something like that. Ever."

Thomas doesn't mention the word "ritual" at all. He said Travis "stayed up for some sort of protection." I could be way off, but my first thought was that he was saying Travis had some sort of inner prompting that made him hesitant to go to sleep, because he wanted to be awake in case he had to protect himself from something that otherwise might surprise him in his sleep. Just a guess. I don't know if what Thomas says is even true - IIRC, there was some doubt that he talked to Travis at all that night or on the day of the murder?

    Quote from Metis:
"What I found fascinating was the the defense experts (all 11 of them) approached Jodi with too many specialized tests which made it so easy to lie."*

Yes! I was uncomfortable hearing about all the self-report measures, since JA was staking her life (in part) on trying to fool the tests. I'm glad that Dr. D used a lot more than those tests to diagnose her, including talking to people who knew her. I do think JA probably has plenty going on in addition to BPD, but I also think Dr. D's assessment is the most credible one that's been presented.

    Also from Metis:

"To me there is no evidence that Jodi has no memory. In fact, the actions Jodi took after the murder prove her brain was functioning on full throttle."

I agree, there's plenty of evidence that her executive function was fully operational after the murder. I do think, though, that it's plausible that she might have briefly blacked out during her killing frenzy, and that she was disoriented when she came to with Travis' body at her feet. Which would explain her many mistakes in trying to clean up the crime scene. I think she remembers all that just fine, though.

I just cannot even express how grateful I am to have this place to talk about all this and bounce ideas off each other! My husband and friends are getting pretty tired of hearing about this trial, lol.

I do have to say, The Enquirer seems to be trying to crawl out of the hole they put themselves in a little bit lately. The guy from there was laughing as he did that story and no more believes the POS killer than we do. He also refused to print the pedo letters for killer's peddling mother.
I have to give them a couple points. Those two pts put the way ahead of HLN LOL

Heck denn, don't be afraid, all opinions are welcome ... and it only hurts for a little while when someone here 'bites'. If they bite too hard, just scroll and ignore works well.

Just try to remember, HLN shows really mess with your head, are often wrong, misinformed, out and out lie, and when they say "new" it is old news to anyone that had followed the trial. Most avid followers watch the live stream, the actual court. HLN has people there and still gets it screwed up. Just so you know HLN has earned the low opinion you often see here.

The links in my sig have all the youtube video channels that put up the daily trial if you get time to get caught up.

Can't imagine that one really being that captivating. Maybe it's just me, there have been over 600 pieces of individual evidence in this case, how many can they possibly have in that case? 50 or so? Plus, the sex and just graphic nature of this crime is what made it great to investigate together. I learned so much from everyone on this thread. The anal...that was for you coconut! This has truly been an experience and I thank all of you. I'm going to hang on till Monday then hope that all of you are still here when I get back on Saturday night whether the verdict has been read or not.

Telephone records prove JA did not call Travis from outside the door on June4, and Thomas wasn't living at TA's on June 4.

But when I think overall who has proven their case? Definitely the prosecution.

I just find it more interesting to analyze both sides trying to be impartial (as the jurors are asked to be) than to show up every day cheering for one side and booing the other, like teenagers at a high school football game. And Martinez has the burden of proof here. Nurmi doesn't have to prove a thing for murder 1 or 2. Martinez turned down a plea deal for murder 2 because he thought he could prove murder 1. So the logical person to focus on is him. He has to prove premeditation or the whole thing, all the time, all the money (close to 2 million dollars so far) spent is down the tubes. So yeah, I think it is absolutely legit to critique him.

ya, I don't know what it was w Thomas but he's full of shit. He was a roommate killer dragged out of her mouth to Flores but why he would then feel it necessary to invent some goofball story who knows. Brace yourself, a lot more nuts will come out of the woodwork now that the end is near. We'll have to try to sift through those telling some truth and those looking for their 15 mins. My personal feeling is, it doesn't matter to me. She slaughtered him and no story is going to change that. It's been 5 yrs. If they wanted to defend Travis, and weren't forced by the court to not talk, then to hell with them now.

Dr. Geffner founded something called the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute, which joined the San Diego campus of Alliant International University and became known as the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma. Here are a couple of websites that came with reviews. JM is going to have a field day with this quack.

Correct! And isn't Thomas Brown the guy JA tried to steer Det Flores towards when he asked if TA had any enemies? She said he asked him to leave a long time before.

Seems comical (tragically), that while everybody the police spoke to, bar none, was saying, check out Jodi Arias, she's on the phone with Flores saying check out Thomas Brown.

actually once jodi asserted her not guilty because of "self defense" then the burden does fall to the defense to prove it was self defense in arizona - the state had to prove she did it and to show premeditation, but now that its self defense all the burden does fall on the defense to prove that - if she had said it was a crime of passion, or even stuck to the ninja story, then all the burden would have been on martinez and might have ended up w/ murder 2 or manslaughter - but because she decided to to go w/ the whole battered woman story and needed to defend her life, then thats why the defense has to prove it now, actually made it easier for martinz
