They didn't have to, and Juan is smart, so he would not have if it hurt them. I believe he either thought it wasn't harmful, or possibly even that there was a way it could be used to help the prosecution.

Her triggers are when testimony is degrading her or if Willmott needs to try to find more things to try and outwit a witness.
