Whenever people say this about JM, I am always surprised, and curious, as to what he should have done.

He focused on the facts in the case in chief.

When the defense is putting on their case, he HAD to challenge what they said. His goal is not necessarily to prove the rest of his case at this point. His goal is to make sure that the defense has nothing to stand on, and to challenge and disprove all their theories.

Now that the rebuttal case is coming up, unless you have been paying absolutely no attention, you would see that Walmart and Tesero (or whatevers) are on the witness list. This clearly shows that he is going to focus on the premeditation of his case.

So, would anyone mind telling me what Juan is supposed to do during the defense case that he hasn't done? Because I'm a tad confused....

Exactly! Thank you. JM did what he was supposed to do during the defenses case, which was discredit what was being said by the defense. Thing is, he DID establish a lot of premeditation during this time. And he is going to solidify it soon in rebuttal.

Travis' family can't file a civil lawsuit, they would have had to have filed it within 2 years of his death unless they can somehow file somewhere besides AZ. I am not sure what the laws are in other states.

no, that is a great point! he has been cross examining their witness'...the case he is building is much different.

Because HLN showed some new pics that had Jodi and Bobby in them last week.
His name did come up in cross with ALV but it was only in regard to anal sex I think.

"relationship" (albeit on and off) she has been able to sustain. He may very well have info regarding jealousy and manipulation issues.

Her caption under it says "Braids (but I'm not a blondie anymore, nope!)" so I'm assuming it's her, LOL...I know it was posted on myspace 4 years ago. From the sound of it AFTER she killed Travis, since she said not a "blondie" anymore. I was just wondering when the actual picture was taken.

As for the "I am very comfortable behind the camera, and not at all used to being in front of it." I didn't watch the 48 hour episode, but maybe she meant video camera? She had many self portraits posted on her myspace. But she's also a proven liar, so I don't know ;-)

no, if the original becomes deadlocked in the penalty phase, the prosecutor can either agree on LWOP or get a brand new jury and re try the penalty phase - the same way as if the jury was deadlocked on the verdict, they retry the case w/ a new jury

She was given enough to seek further information from living, breathing face-to-face people. She did not. She is as complicit as the defense team. They are all to blame, but it really doesn't matter much anymore....it looks like a done deal and game over for JA. No amount of parsing, slicing & dicing words, changes the mountain of evidence in this case. Alyce did not bother to look at that boat load evidence with an unjaundiced eye. She's a used car salesman.

She was making 250/hr for "research" on this case! She could have done what any of us do or if as she says she does not know much about computers, I am willing to bet she has an assistant who does. She cherry picked what she wanted to know to make the case she wanted to make. I am NOT going to blame the defense for a person who takes the stand and swears themselves in as an "expert witness" and then turns out to be woefully unprepared. If nothing else, why are they coming to me since I do not normally testify in criminal trials? That should have sent her antenna up right away and made her curious enough to dig deeper into why no one else wanted anything to do with this case!

wow! he may not have been called because no one could compel him to testify! anyone who has had any contact with Stabby is a potential witness. If you lay down with dogs, you should 't be surprised if you wind up with flees.

Nope, I wasn't paying attention to the rebuttal list. I'm glad he's bringing in Walmart.

I'm not criticizing Juan's tactics. I know he had no choice but to discredit the defense witnesses, but he has to realize that the defense is throwing lots of Hail Marys in an effort to distance the trial from the facts.

He did a good job keeping these witnesses on the stand for a short period of time, but there were times when it seemed like he was in a pissing match with Alyce. She has to be the most obtuse and obstinate witness I've ever seen testify. I can see how easy it would be to get frustrated with her.

My point is and I'm sure he recognizes this, that he needs to drive the trial right back to the facts, Joe Friday style in order to remind the jury of what important in this case...the facts.

Those 'pissing matches' you seem to look negatively on towards the experience prosecutor compiled into one hell of a cross exam that completely demolished any once of credibilty or believablity of the witness.
And that is of great signifigance when the killer's formal defense is DV.

Because he tried to have anal with Jodi once or twice, and Martinez was the last person to find out about it. It's Juan's first and favorite lie that he brings up during testimony because he enjoys asking people angry questions about anal sex on television. He has to know whether the buttfuck was consummated or there's going to be a mistrial. No one's really sure at this point. We need Bobby to testify to set the record straight on this important issue.
