In any case, Jodi was JUST as guilty of trying to have her cake an eat it, too (or eat her cake an have it too... however that saying goes).
No religion (at least that I know of) wants their followers running about having all kinda of kinky premarital sex, but countless people still do it anyway. Specially the younger individuals. To me he kinda came off to me as a guy who was a little bit (or maybe a lotta bit) on the stunted side when it came to sex, ya know? A late bloomer kinda type. She was offering pretty much everything that he had probably ever dreamed of and he fell for the temptation hook, line, & sinker and got his ass addicted to the poon. I just don't think he was 100% prepared to deal with someone as manipulative and sexually advanced as the likes of her. Maybe part of him truly wanted to break things off from her, but part of the reason he kept it hidden was the fact that he was embarrassed that he couldn't handle her? Once he got all tangled up in that hot mess he was stuck in it. I doubt that's a situation he wanted to to go to his Mormon friends for advice on. I know I wouldn't wanna, if I were in his shoes. So that may equal leading a double life, but I'm sure there are way worse ones out there.

Now, some juror questions observations:

He wasn't in a long term relationship... did i hear her correctly? What do you call the 6-7yrs he dated Deanna then? A fling?

I can't believe the way Miss LaViolette is twisting and turning and refusing to acknowledge that there is even the tiniest sliver of a chance that Jodi could possibly be an abuser in any way, shape, or form! Regardless of the fact that she has even hit her own MOM (but that was when she was younger, blah blah blah)... I mean, I really CAN believe it - it's totally what I expected her to do - but Jeebus! It's so far beyond bias at this point that it isn't funny. It's like she thinks Saint Jodi walks on water and shits rainbows.

This woman is giving me a migraine! She has data (or whatever the case may be) to corroborate EVERY.SINGLE.FUCKING.THING. that she needs to paint the perfect picture of poor abused Jodi, meanwhile there can be mountains of evidence pointing to Travis being the abused one and it doesn't matter ONE.BIT. No matter what the case may be... like abusive childhoods; they can both have 'em but only Travis' make him an abuser, not precious Jodicakes, oh no, can't be! Totally agree that Travis was a newbie when it came to "advanced" sexual experience. He definitely got addicted to sex with Jodi. It would make sense since his Mom and Dad were addicts that the addiction "brain function" got passed down. Addiction is more often than not inherited. It just takes one thing to trigger it, whether drugs, booze, sex etc.

I am sure he was embarrassed of his actions hence the secretive relationship. Had he not been involved in the Mormon religion, perhaps he would not have kept his relationship secret this way. The problem with organized religion is that it preaches tenets that discount the imperfections of human behavior. It forces one to suppress themselves. Human beings have primitive urges. Organized religion doesn't factor this fact in to many of its teachings. I now think he may have been fearful of her when she was stalking him. However, when he was with her, he was not afraid because he felt he had control simply because she was in his sight.

I concur. Might not agree with her role in this trial, but it takes guts standing besides a villain. At least her bubbly personality still reflects after all these years. the only part about it that's accurate is that a person named Jennifer L Sussman was arrested in 2008 in AZ. But Willlmott was already going by her married name by then, was born in 1970 not 1982... just a few technicalities :)

So what the fuck went so wrong with Laviolette's testimony? Put aside your hatred and knee-jerk responses and think. On the surface she seems like a good choice. Folksy, easy to understand, experienced, well known in her field, published author. She had some decent evidence to work with, that would at least show emotional abuse and a volatile relationship.

Why did she take the case?

• Believed in Jodi's cause as an abused woman who was justified in striking back Perhaps a bit of this
• Self promotion (could she have predicted the media interest? doubtful) There was already media interest when she took the case.
• Money She said she does not have much of a retirement.
• Promote her view of domestic violence Mostly THIS

Why was she so rigid in her views of Jodi as victim and Travis as abuser?

• Paid for her views, so afraid to show any flexibility Some of this
• Unable to admit she was wrong in public Mostly THIS
• Not actually an expert on domestic violence or testifying This also had an effect

Who takes the blame for this Titanic hitting the iceberg?

• Alyce? She was sloppy and unscientific, lied and covered up for Jodi Mostly this
• Jodi? She lied and changed the facts on the people hired to help her But this didn't help matters
• I will spread some blame to Nurmi and Willmott for choosing her

I have to agree... as much as I want to support the family and would normally support a site that is dedicated to Travis's memory I've seen a little too much tribal mentality there for my tastes. But at least they don't ban people that speak up like I've heard happens @ JAII.
