Alyce and all the other defense' "expert" witnesses are not helping them but only hurting them even more. I can't believe how long this Trial has been. I wonder if the defense has another witness up or is it awesome JM' turn? So hard to keep on a tablet, sucks plus I can't watch the live stream anymore too :/

If JW and Nurmi would have been wise, they would have kept the witnesses on the stand only as long as they absolutely had to. But their style of dragging out the testimony for days really has been a huge part of their undoing. They let their witnesses ramble, which opens all sorts of new doors for the DA to then probe. None of the bunch knows when to shut their traps.

I absolutely think the jury can avoid seeing or hearing about it and that there are people that haven't heard about it.And more money that we as AZ tax payers have to pay for this crackpot! I'm thinking the jury would have to be sequestered if that happened. I don't know too many people that haven't seen or heard about this trial in the greater Phoenix area.
My husband and I were just talking about it. The only reason I hear about it is because I actively search it out. The hubs only hears about it when listening to the radio and they bring it up.
We don't watch the news, just Netflix. So, they would just have to avoid certain things during that time - I wouldn't be getting newspapers, going to news websites or watching news on television or listening to radio shows. If you avoid those, You wouldn't hear it.
Most people I mention the case to have no idea what I'm talking about, some have a very vague sense. No one brings it up first to me, except my family that knows I actively follow the case and will sometimes ask me questions. No coworkers ever mention it, never heard about it at social events or even church gatherings (only mention because mormonism is mentioned so much in this trial).
So, it is more than possible that they could find a new jury if, heaven forbid, they had to. They would have a far smaller pool of people to choose from, but I know most people I mention it to have no idea what I'm talking about! So, I usually don't bring it up to others anymore, lol. :)
So it is definitely very possible and the jury shouldn't have too hard a time avoiding it if they take the appropriate steps! JMO.

Alyce slipped up on one of the questions having to do with why she chose this case. She answered it fine, but then started to say "I dont have a great retirement". This leads me to believe she doesnt have a retirement nest egg and must supplement her income (or SSI). It appears she chose the lucrative field of forensics. This might come as a surprise, but private practice work is difficult and doesn't pay that well, cause there is only so many hours in a week.
No surprise there. Jodi has to monitor her "mark" (boyfriend) to make sure they are behaving.
this argument is illogical...the defense psychologist, Samuels, brought it up to justify the murder. Fight, Flight or Freeze is simply a physiologic response (epinephrine) to an emergency situation that prepares the body. The choices depend upon the situation. Jodi had the opportunity to flee but didnt take it. We (if we were the jury) need to focus on Travis's fight/flight/freeze for his life! The defense strategy requires you suspend belief and swig down a shot of Jodi.
You forgot that Jodi skipped school regularly! Anywho, Alyce has spent too much time in the insular world of DV. Children who have been abused are at risk of further abuse, be it bullying or partners who will abuse them. It has been proven (and is old news actually) that abused children will NOT grown into abusers themselves. Same with persons who were sexually abused; they dont automatically grow into perpetrators. Yes, they are traumatized. Yes, they may attract ppl who will abuse them. Its just not true that they would identify with the abuser. Its likely Travis was becoming aware of the effects of his childhood abuse and neglect. That awareness usually starts to rear its ugly head in adulthood around mate selection. It just seems to me that Travis was ripe for Jodi; he was vulnerable, needy and his weaknesses were obvious. I am certain she took advantage of all his foibles. Though he saught her out because of her looks, she encouraged him. He was a target. He was kind and giving and probably ignored his inner alarms. In addition, men who have been abused & neglected have a harder time with fear and weakness. When she started working him with the pedophilia he must have fought that definition. When you grow up in the family that you grow up in, uhm, it's not just what's dealt to you, it's the way that you see what's dealt to you and anybody who has children or who has siblings knows that you---you know all of your siblings can see things differently, so, for instance, if you have an accessible adult that you can really count on--like you have a friend's parent or an aunt or an uncle or a grandparent that...that is there for you on a regular basis...uhm...that can change. Your personality, the way you take things in, if you blame yourself...uh...or you blame the parent or if you're able to see clear of that situation. If there's a community that's set up where you have--maybe you're in a scouting troop or if you go to a church or maybe, you know, are part of ..uh.. a softball team or a baseball team--somewhere where you get positive things--that can have an impact, but generally, most kids their brain development is exponential from zero to six. So most kids learn a lot about who they are between zero to six, not that we don't keep learning but...but you know your disposition, how you come out, your personality affects how you take things in. So there's a lot of things that can make a difference. The problem is that when you learn a lot of negative things in your family of origin--if you're neglected, if you're without food, if your parents are violent with each other, that, generally speaking, you're gonna' need some intervention to just help you in intimate relationships because you don't learn what you don't see and you don't have exposure to you--you know--even if you're a strong personality.
Wow! There's way too much in there to comment on fully, but how about just this. At the age of eight, Travis 'switched' his 'family of origin' and went to live with his grandparents and for the next few years he was an easy boy to raise and by the age of 15, he seems to have learned how to be a good kid and was well on his way to finishing high-school, joining the Mormon Church.
During Jodi Arias's parallel years, she bashed her brother on the head with a baseball bat, kicked the shit out of the family dog and drove it away, learned to grow pot in her Mom's Tupperware on the roof, hit and kicked her mother and, at 15, gave Clinton a BJ, and was well on her way to being a Grade 11 dropout and leaving home to shack up with Bobby Juarez.
Exactly which one of them was it who passed those years growing into Alyce's profile of an adult abuser? And what was it that Alyce said about intimate relations?

I continue to see Alyce as biased. It is amazing to me that she has increased discussion of her own personal needs. Her needs do not trump everyone else. She is completely and totally sucked into Jodi's story. I see the dv as a defense strategy, nothing more. I've met professionals like Alyce, they are so convinced of their righteousness that they can't see the light. She can not see that she is prejudiced. She may never recognize that her testimony is distorted.

I have new info on a different chick you could add to that list.
This is just the practice run right now. There is going to be a mistrial and another trial. It will probably be moved to Samoa, or maybe a marooned cruise ship with no internet access where Jodi can get a fair trial. Then everybody can be sequestered away from HLN and Nancy Grace and bloggers.
The defense will have a chance to get some better expert witnesses. I found a guy who is willing to testify, he is an expert in battering.

Good question....one that I don't know the answer to! I don't think this happens very often. In some states, it is the judge who has the final decision in rendering the verdict when the DP is on the table. I live in a state that doesn't have the DP, so it is an automatic LWOP sentence that the judge must pass down.
