No, Salem Women Trials is not the correct term at all. Of the 20 people executed as a result of the Salem Witch Trials, 7 of them were men. That is 35% male victims. So no, your term is totally incorrect. Salem Witch Trials is the correct term.

"In LDS life and thought, sexuality consists of attitudes, feelings, and desires that are God-given and central to God's plan for his children, but they are not the central motivating force in human action. Sexual feelings are to be governed by each individual within boundaries the Lord has set. Sexuality is not characterized as a need, or a deprivation that must be satisfied, but as a desire that should be fulfilled only within marriage, with sensitive attention given to the well-being of one's heterosexual marriage partner. As the offspring of God, humans carry the divine Light of Christ, which is the means whereby the appropriate expression of sexual desires can be measured. Depending on whether men and women are true or false to this light, they will be the masters or the victims of sexual feelings. Such desires are to be fulfilled only within legal heterosexual marriage, wherein sexual involvement is to be an expression of unity, compassion, commitment, and love. Mutuality and equality are to be the hallmark of a married couple's physical intimacy.

The purposes of appropriate sexual relations in marriage include the expression and building of joy, unity, love, and oneness. To be "one flesh" is to experience an emotional and spiritual unity. This oneness is as fundamental a purpose of marital relations as is procreation. President Spencer W. Kimball stated:

"The union of the sexes, husband and wife (and only husband and wife), was for the principal purpose of bringing children into the world. Sexual experiences were never intended by the Lord to be a mere plaything or merely to satisfy passions and lusts. We know of no directive from the Lord that proper sexual experience between husbands and wives need be limited totally to the procreation of children, but we find much evidence from Adam until now that no provision was ever made by the Lord for indiscriminate sex [1975, p. 4]."

We are not talking about struggle. Struggle is a given. All human beings deal with struggle in one way or another. What we are dealing with here is committing to a doctrine and not doing so....but pretending one is doing so....and not asking for enough of help to rectify not doing so.

Friggin fascinating! I remember being so glued to my TV during the OJ trial and again with Scott Peterson and of course Casey. But ya know I also remember how I went thru withdrawals when it was all over. I remember standing around a tv at work when the verdict was announced with OJ and the silence that followed. Then when Peterson jury came back with guilty 1st degree I worked in a call center and a note came in a whole office ping.....and as we all read our screens and there was simultaneous applause. And we all know how it felt when we learned Casey was free to go. This is gonna be big.
Thank you for the welcome. Verdict day makes me nervous. I base this on the insanity of the OJ and Casey debacles.

Yes, a juror can dig in and not budge. That usually ends in a "hung jury" and requires a new trial. It happens. The judge will typically order them back to deliberations, sometimes more than once, to see if they can't reach a unanimous decision, though. Everyone involved wants to avoid a hung jury, but there are many cases that they are declared "hopelessly deadlocked" and we go back to square one. I would imagine the juror would say why they feel that way, although I have never served on a jury, so I'm not certain.

I grew up in the Salem area, and you are correct, Brillig......men and women (and even children) were accused and imprisoned and several men were among the executed.

HLN has the screenshots. Defense requested the gun video. I am sure that if the prosecution wanted them they would gladly turn that over. I just wonder if JM will walk that route to show that she isn't as "meek, sweet, and innocent" as her defense is trying to portray her.
