It was very interesting to hear what happened to you and to think that happened to you so early in this trial.. and how far we've come in this. This trial will forever change how I see people. Friggin fascinating! I remember being so glued to my TV during the OJ trial and again with Scott Peterson and of course Casey. But ya know I also remember how I went thru withdrawals when it was all over. I remember standing around a tv at work when the verdict was announced with OJ and the silence that followed. Then when Peterson jury came back with guilty 1st degree I worked in a call center and a note came in a whole office ping.....and as we all read our screens and there was simultaneous applause. And we all know how it felt when we learned Casey was free to go. This is gonna be big.

Thank you for the welcome. Verdict day makes me nervous. I base this on the insanity of the OJ and Casey debacles.

Does the juror have to explain why he thinks the way he does? Can you have a juror who refuses to change a vote or take part in the deliberations but obstinately says I do not buy first degree and no matter what any of you say I am not changing my mind!

Yes, a juror can dig in and not budge. That usually ends in a "hung jury" and requires a new trial. It happens. The judge will typically order them back to deliberations, sometimes more than once, to see if they can't reach a unanimous decision, though. Everyone involved wants to avoid a hung jury, but there are many cases that they are declared "hopelessly deadlocked" and we go back to square one. I would imagine the juror would say why they feel that way, although I have never served on a jury, so I'm not certain.

I grew up in the Salem area, and you are correct, Brillig......men and women (and even children) were accused and imprisoned and several men were among the executed.
