Ok this is the first chance I've had to post to this thread due to simply trying to keep up with it and working and all...but I just wanted to say that twice now I have actually changed my opinion regarding Jodi's guilt. At first I'll admit that because of time constraints I simply didn't have enough time to view the evidence and unfortunately I did form my opinion based on what everyone else on this thread was saying. But that was until somebody (I don't know who) made an interesting point which led me to then start wondering if maybe it was in fact self defence. I mean, I know myself from having been in an emotionally abusive relationship you hold it all in and let the frustration build and build until you finally snap. In fact I have busted my partner's ear drum in one incident and even had him around the throat in another and both times all it took was for him to make a snide comment about my kids and everything that I had bottled up came surging out. So yeah, even though I never went as far as Jodi did, I really could see how it could be possible for someone who maybe has other 'underlying' problems to go that far. But when time allowed I started to actually look at the evidence, read the diaries, watch the interrogation interviews (too many times to count), follow the trial as much as I could all so that I could faithfully say that I came to my OWN conclusions, then finally after hearing today's questions from the jury there's only one thing that I have left to say, and that is "Stick a fork in her, she is done!"

Or, even remotely a Self Defense case! I was listening out for LaViolette's freudian's, but I didn't hear any so far. I'll have to scrutinize the video, but did anything stand out to you? I love looking at the Jury questions, because they seem to rock people, but she appeared to have a 'flat affect' (HaHa)! I did notice on many questions she took some time out to reflect before answering. It was noticeable time!

Alyce could have responded to the juror questions about "liking Jodi" with "I have positive regard for Ms. Arias" instead of fumbling around and saying the stupid nonsense she is saying. Positive regard implies lack of emotion and proper distance between a clinician and their client. In over explaining, she loses credibility.

    [QUOTE=rdeadline
Also, I've researched the Salem witch trials (over the years and recently) Jodi does not fit the profile of an accused witch. In fact, she fits an accuser's profile. It's ignorant of history to say she is one.[/QUOTE]

This is not directed at rd, lot's of people have said similar things so this is just a general kind of observation.

I DO NOT believe for one minute that Jodi is innocent, but at some point last week the same witch trial thought crossed my mind & when I keep seeing comments about it I feel like I'm being hypocritical for not owning up to it. I think you'll find the comment has nothing to do with any similarity between Jodi & the women falsely accused of witchcraft in towns all over the world. It refers solely to the reaction of those watching the trial.

I am not making a blanket statement that every single person showing an interest in following the trial or discussing it online is unhinged & whipping up hysteria over the case. Here, and on many other forums there IS reasonable, rational & WARRANTED discussion, but there's an awful lot of unnecessary crazy shit too. You need to consider the statement in relation to the entire web & not just mds (which also has it's moments). Applying the statement selectively is a little bit ALV -ish.

There's an awful lot of blogs, fb pages, twitter, myspace, comments on news articles -the much discussed book review page on Amazon had over 550 reviews as of yesterday & it was climbing by the minute. This is no longer just a national issue for the U.S. This stuff is coming from all over the world - personally I'm about as far away as you can get from the actual trial. There is a massive world-wide reaction to this trial & that is what I think you'll find they're referring to. Comparing Jodi to the women victimised in the witch trials is not the intention.

If your whole trial experience comes almost exclusively through mds & live feeds, you're not getting the whole picture & it could seem an unreasonable statement. I fully expect to be subjected to a figurative stoning & accused of being a Jodi sympathiser for saying this. That's ok. I realise emotions are (justifiably) running high right now, maybe some of you will understand just a little where I'm coming from, after the dust has settled, maybe not.

One fact that can't be denied though, is that while it can be argued that there may be as many men suffering domestic violence at the hands of female partners, when it comes to domestic violence HOMICIDE women FAR outweigh men as victims. The long rollcall of female names is very sobering. Despite that fact, there has never been an outpouring of collective outrage like this, even for all those murdered women & children combined. Maybe that could add some perspective?

Website with.. Jail art?? Thumbprint for authenticity... The art is pretty good, but this girl really thinks she is famous instead of infamous.
The reason I am not impressed with her art, it is not very creative. Very textbook, just as taught in high school art classes. One of my sons took art and did portraits for class in that same style. He could take a photograph and make a drawing just like she seems to be doing, at least with Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra. I am not an artist, but I have dealt in it along with antiques. Her art would never sell in a gallery, the high school kids art show at the end of the year was every bit as good and many better. Hers is not original at all.

He sits second closest to witness, front row two down. He is either mesmerized or has a hard time keeping his eyes open, it looked like he was trying to hide his gaze. He could have been looking at Jenny but I don't think so. I think he was watching the defendant do her doodles and give him an occasional glance.

Yes, during a break, the two gals next to me and I stayed seated for a few minutes, and Valerie, the bailiff you see walking around usually casually dressed and long dark hair, came and sat behind us and said the sheriff wanted to know what we were talking about, if we were seeing a juror doing something. We were craning our necks to see a juror that was blocked (by Flores), and the girl next to me was quite embarrassed and apologetic. Valerie repeated that if we saw something we needed to tell her.
So the no food rule may be new, cause you would never get away with it, or they don't enforce it.

I am only up to page 317. By the way, today's Arizona Republic features a front page huge photo of ALV with that article posted earlier. I wonder if Samuels had any fallout like this? In this day and age, you can't avoid it. Look what social media has done for this case, most of what she and Samuels looked at was just that. I am not justifying it, but it is part of the age we live in. Every news outlet wants to be your FB friend and twitter buddy.

I noticed she does that... goes in to a little word salad with questions she doesn't like, is unsure of or plain doesn't want to answer.

Mad love for the jury. After hearing all their questions, I am more convinced than ever Jodi is going to fry.

If Wilmott was smart, she would throw in the towel and stomp out of court. How in the world does she possibly think she can rehab AVL?

I wondered about that too. Seems unlikely, with the tight schedule at the jail. I wonder if ALV brought a sack lunch and dinner, or if the jail let her have a tray with the same food the inmates get?

I agree. If there is one juror who is thinking "hmm, maybe there is a small chance Jodi was battered", I would imagine that after finally getting to discuss the case with the other jurors during deliberations, that they would have to be quite strong and bull headed to be able to hang on to that view hard enough to hang the jury or get 11 other jurors to vote for a lesser charge when there is zero proof of abuse.

For fuck's sakes, they really think Jodi is an angel on earth and it's everyone else's fault; it's everyone else who is evil because she's so sweet. Man, somebody needs a reallity check.

    few things without reviewing

Manipulating at the Purple Plum was from the MANAGER, not a waitress. Def and Alyce tried to confuse that but I know JM said, well, lets take a look at what the manager said.
The delays, iirc, one was on the question about if a woman could be abusive, is that a delay or the one she looked shocked and couldn't even understand the question.
And my favorie ... Aren't you basing everything about Pedo on what Jodi told you?

Character assination AL had testified it was tearing someone down to OTHERS. She messed up on this one with the jury saying the opposite.

its interesting, that even if you dont do all of what you mentioned, and just simply WATCH the way jodi acts in court, to me she doesnt "fit the description" of someone who was battered

Court watchers report that less than half of the jurors ask questions. That leaves over half that are silent. I'm still not celebrating yet. :)

A convicted murderer would be excommunicated, or an acting pedophile may as well - it is reserved for the most serious of sins. While sexual sins are very serious in the church, especially to the level that Travis was taking it, he would more likely have faced "disfellowship" which is a time where he can not participate in certain ordinances (going into the temple, partake of the sacrament, giving priesthood blessings...etc.) but not excommunication. I know several people that did things of a similar level and the worse they faced was disfellowship, and some not even to that level, just a long repentance process. Just FYI. :)

(As a reference, I've been in the church for almost 30 years...)

Thank you for clarifying this, ChelseyDawn. Although I'm not who you were responding to, I was a bit confused about this, too. I thought Marie "Mimi" Hall had testified that anyone breaking the law of chastity would be ex-communicated but her testimony was SOOOOO long ago and I couldn't find her testimony complete with audio and video on YouTube (the only one I found was audio only...I'm totally ADHD, I need visual and audio, lol!).

I'd love to watch her testimony again, if anyone could post a link to it or PM me with one.

Thanks again, CD, for clearing up the ex-communication confusion!

Love this! I am all to happy to watch Jodi walk out of the courtroom each day knowing she is one day closer to the DP, she has earned it and to use her own words, "if I hurt Travis, I would beg for the death penalty." It's not the same to call the devil as it is to see him coming! Right Jodi?

Regardless, the answers to the questions that were asked will give the silent jurors something to think about.

See I told you guys, the jurors are a smart bunch. I think they saw through the forest and past the cottage of the 7 dwarves. I think Hodi really needs to start tying up her personal bidness
