So, it's Travis' fault that Jodi made him feel like a dildo with a heartbeat. Alyce just convinced me that she will never really see a man as an abuse victim. Eff that puta.

I think I agree. I would see it the other way if she weren't sooooo biased and one sided. She even blamed Travis for Jodi making him feel like a dildo with a heartbeat. She CANNOT see Travis as a victim here because he is a man.

Part of me wants to agree with this and part of me does not. I want to believe ALV is really a good person just caught up in a mess. I think the bigger issue at hand here is the fact that NO ONE will ever hire her again if she just totally gives in to the opposing side. What DT is going to want her to be a part of their case if she could possible say something that supports the prosecution (can go the other way too). I'm not defending her totally unprofessional behavior though. Plus I could be wrong, she could just be a really crappy horrible person. Hopefully not, though. At any rate, she is really helping the prosecution right now, so thank goodness for that!

People were saying that yesterday too but when I reviewed the videos, it doesn't hold true. I saw there werre times he was conferring with giggles and taking notes. Today I don't know, I'm not so good at multitasking w posting and trying to observe closely everything at the same time.

The 18 yr old and Katie and Stacy, Drew jurors r sitting here too. Took a pic w Katie but my eyes were closed. Decided late last night to just do it!

I didn't leave a bad review or any review for that matter, but I admit I laughed when I read some of them, and squirmed when I read some others (that were in poor taste).

I agree with you about LaV, in part. I feel bad that she wasn't given ALL the information in order to make a truly informed decision to state an opinion of DV and testify in this matter. It is a shame that the DT was unwilling to give her the goods, but unfortunately, LaV isn't helping herself up on the stand because, even in light of hearing or finding out contradicting info (from her opinion), she doesn't appear to be acknowledging it as much as she should be...almost defying it and JM on the stand. I don't like that about her. She isn't up there to testify as to only facts and circumstances that show Jodi in a good light, she is also supposed to go where the evidence goes...if something JM brings up is truth and it swings the other way (toward TA), I would hope LaV would acknowledge it. Her opinion of DV WAS based on only partial evidence. When learning about ALL the evidence, her opinion should sway the other way...but I see her defying even new info she wasn't allowed to see before. It's like she's still cherry-picking what she wants to believe in order to keep her original DV opinion.

Whether she's swayed toward TA's side or not, she's still going to get paid regardless. But because she's fighting the truth of any new info brought out by JM and acting the way she is, I think that's why people are getting so emotional and leaving her bad reviews on her book. If she had had a doctor review site like Samuels, I'd imagine, people would be spouting hatred over there instead. The book review is all people have at the moment. This testimonyl is emotional for a lot of us, mainly because we either have been abused, or we know someone who has been abused.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not saying those bad reviews are right, but perhaps that's why people are doing it (because they are so riled up over her testimony...oh, and maybe the fact that the price of her book is too high...those are textbook prices. Ouch.)

She's not transfering her feelings, its deeper than that. If it was a simple projection of her feelings about her daughter, she could be objective and say (to herself) my daughter would never kill anyone...lemme figure out why this young woman did this awful thing. Instead Alyce is acting as if Jodi is her daughter. It is critical in any helping profession, especially psychotherapy, to be objective. I am going by her statements that would cause alarms to go off in any clinical setting. Countertransference can be positive or negative and negative countertransference is easy to see. So if one is to believe Alyce simply hates all men, then why treat them? Why place herself in a situation where you hate the ppl in front of you day in and day out?

This is one of the reasons I am unable to treat men who perpetrate incest. I have a visceral reaction and cant be objective. My grandmother was sexually abused by her older brother and gave birth to a son from the incest. The baby died and it proved to me there is a loving God. But my grandmother suffered immeasurably throughout her life because of this. Thats one example.

You are absolutely correct, Metis, concerning the countertransference issue in the professional world (especially psychotherapy, as you state).....any ethical therapist would (and should) refer a client to another counselor and remove themselves from a situation where this could present itself. The key word, here, is ethical. Ethical and Ms. LaViolette don't belong in the same sentence.

First let me say I am so SO sorry for you and your family, that would incredibly hard to deal with!
I dont think I understand fully what you are saying. But I am going to try to respond the best I can.
I dont see that she is acting like JA is her daughter. I see a woman that will fight tooth and nail to protect a woman. Even if that means dragging the real victim through the mud. I dont know much about therapy or anything like that other than what I had to go through as a youth. My counselors and therapists and the works, constantly compared my behavior to that of a "normal" person. Some used their kids, some used their siblings, some used there grand kids. I realize that behavioral difficulties are no where near the same realm as what JA did, so not really a fair comparison, but I dont think her mentioning her daughter really means much. I figure JA is probably about the same age as her daughter and it is just a connection she makes because of that. I know I could be way off, but from what I have seen she is against men. She may have treated/worked with men, but that doesnt mean she enjoyed it or was unbiased in it. Perhaps ALV doesnt hate ALL men, just the ones that other women claim are abusive. She is obviously biased here, I see her taking the side of a woman when ever possible regardless of the evidence, if that woman is claiming abuse.

I hope that makes sense.
And again, I am so sorry you and your family had to deal with that!

Or is Jodi such a compelling and engrossing human to speak to in person, so skilled at drawing people in (when she wants to), that she was able to charm the expert witness who wanted to believe this poor woman was abused.
