She's so obvious that she doesn't want to slip up when Juan asks a question and she answers as though he asked her something else. It's a tactic we've all used when we don't want to get into trouble, you change the subject or try to steer someone off track when they're questioning you. The jury will pick up on that.

But I learned probably by 13 or 14 years old that it was easier (in the long run) to just tell the truth and get it over with because
1) it's eventually going to come out anyway
2) the consequences will be WAY worse if I made my parents "jump thru hoops" and "pull teeth" to get the truth

btw: not everyone does learn it - my six brothers would go on and on when they were teens trying to weasel out of something... I would just shake my head and think "you are only making it worse!"

This is huge! I hope Martinez brings this up. Men are battered too. I have a friend I went to high school with and he's been battered by his wife for 20 years! 25 years ago, my Vietnamese neighbors (we lived in a condo and we shared a wall) the wife beat the crap out of him once or twice a month. And he was a Dentist and she was a stay at home mom! There goes the "balance of power" theory and it being 100% true. Then there's my brother. His wife of 4 years hits him all of the time; to the point she breaks his skin. She has a VERY bad temper and an alcoholic. We've tried to help him, but he's in love with her and doesn't want her to leave him... so sad. So that's 3 men that I know of in my life that are being beaten to this day! (My old neighbor is my dentist now) I would think that the percentages are climbing on battered husband syndrome if I, myself know of 3.

?.. However, she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she doesn't ask the witness to cooperate, then she's hindering the prosecution's case. She also doesn't want to seem like she's favoring the prosecution and have the case thrown out. I certainly wouldn't want to be the judge in such a high profile case such as this. I don't fully agree with the way she handles (or doesn't handle as the case may be) her courtroom, but God knows the amount of fury that would come if she were to recuse herself or if the case were to be thrown out over something she did or didn't do.

And you know she's gotta be tired of this crap, just like the rest of us. She just doesn't have the luxury of showing or expressing it. :)

Fair point. I too think she is exercising an abundance of caution for many valid reasons. Maybe the tide will turn and judges will be allowed to do their jobs without overly focusing on mistrial possibilities?

I don't claim to be any kind of authority on the matter, but to me she sucks the big one. I'm not looking for her to be a control freak, but man she lets shit slide and there's little to no basic decorum. This dog & pony show could have and should have been over a month ago.

I think she is very fair but it is frustrating to observe, I see that.

I betcha Jodi's parents would have something to say about her history of being a liar.

Text-Michelle is actually suppose to Creshelle says Alyce. Travis is talking about the BS story. The woman came over to Rudy Tuesdays and told Jodi that Travis was seeing Lisa. Jodi is the one that told Alyce the story. Marie is the woman who came into Jodi's work to tell her-or so Jodi told Alyce.
JM just says-that shows the problem with just reading. (Alyce is stuipified right now!!!!!!!!!!) Alyce said that Travis must have made a mistake- and JM wants to know why it couldn't have been Jodi that made a mistake. Alyce says: frankly I don't know why the name means so much to you? The judge gets on to her.

What is your understand about what Travis is talking about? He doesn't believe her about the information of the woman coming into to talk to Jodi.

Wow! Bias much. I know a guy who was battered. He hated to tell anyone for fear of not being believed, of being afraid to defend himself for fear if she suffered an injury he would be held as a perpetrator. He was terrified one day she'd hit him with a frying pan or something and seriously injure him.

Granted it is often the shoe on the other foot, but it does happen that the man is the battered one.

it's all over her video lectures... "Men don't get battered, it's a myth" and if they do apparently it's their own fault...
