I really like Judge Stephens but I am beginning to agree with some of the criticisms levelled at her. The prosecution shouldn't have to appeal so any times for her to intervene when an expert refuses to ask questions or is self-serving in responses.

I only bring it up because of what I read about sociopathic traits. I believe one of them was unable to hold down a job for very long - something along those lines.

It amazes me how Martinez has to tell her what JW is doing wrong, what Nurmi is doing wrong, what the witness is doing wrong, JM does all the work for her. If JM didn't speak out, she wouldn't intervene at all.

I love Martinez telling the judge what to do. Then he tries to force this woman to admit that her entire career and field of study are not scientifc and built on fabrications. No one is going to admit that! It might not be science like physics but there is science involved, Mr. The Prosecutor!

I just don't understand why she will not concede this point. Psychology IS subjective! Most ANY psychologist will tell you this and say that it is an imperfect science. They all have different methods, styles and understandings and may come to different conclusions. It isn't like a mathematical formula where 2+2 is always 4!

She is looking terrible by not just saying, "yes it is subjective, but I am an expert in it and I feel that this is the case"

I think there's a fine line a judge walks between both sides of a case, but Judge Stephens seems to lose her footing quite often. However, she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she doesn't ask the witness to cooperate, then she's hindering the prosecution's case. She also doesn't want to seem like she's favoring the prosecution and have the case thrown out. I certainly wouldn't want to be the judge in such a high profile case such as this. I don't fully agree with the way she handles (or doesn't handle as the case may be) her courtroom, but God knows the amount of fury that would come if she were to recuse herself or if the case were to be thrown out over something she did or didn't do.

And you know she's gotta be tired of this crap, just like the rest of us. She just doesn't have the luxury of showing or expressing it. :)
