Maybe she's mega burned out, but I agree! She doesn't appear to be the figure in control in this court room.

First JW had to read the testimony transcript and now Alyce is reading it. (Jodi's testimony from 2/5/13)

Alyce reads so slow that it's hard not to picture Nurmi's voice in her head as she reads.

that makes a lot of sense

It amazes me how Martinez has to tell her what JW is doing wrong, what Nurmi is doing wrong, what the witness is doing wrong, JM does all the work for her. If JM didn't speak out, she wouldn't intervene at all.

I love Martinez telling the judge what to do. Then he tries to force this woman to admit that her entire career and field of study are not scientifc and built on fabrications. No one is going to admit that! It might not be science like physics but there is science involved, Mr. The Prosecutor!

    Summary of cross exam notes:

    • You lied on your CV! Busted for Keynote Breakout!
    • What do you know about DNA, dumbass?
    • Sneak attack Snow White rerun, you better admit it this time!
    • Lisa, Angela, Pamela, Renee I love you, You're from around the way
    • Stalking (but just lil bit for now)
    • Communication is 90% non-verbal, unless it's 100% written
    • Computers are for real scientists, not hippie lecturers!

Not sure about google messaging, but it is totally possible with AIM instant messaging.

She is looking terrible by not just saying, "yes it is subjective, but I am an expert in it and I feel that this is the case"

    This is ridiculous!!!
It is totally absurd. And it makes her look as if she just wants to agrue for arguments sake.

So, theoretically, yeah she could've been eavesdropping, depending on the instant message service being used.

Isn't that early on about her boyfriend cheating, and she went to confront him? Or am I getting ahead of myself with all the sidebars?

I think there's a fine line a judge walks between both sides of a case, but Judge Stephens seems to lose her footing quite often. However, she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she doesn't ask the witness to cooperate, then she's hindering the prosecution's case. She also doesn't want to seem like she's favoring the prosecution and have the case thrown out. I certainly wouldn't want to be the judge in such a high profile case such as this. I don't fully agree with the way she handles (or doesn't handle as the case may be) her courtroom, but God knows the amount of fury that would come if she were to recuse herself or if the case were to be thrown out over something she did or didn't do.

And you know she's gotta be tired of this crap, just like the rest of us. She just doesn't have the luxury of showing or expressing it. :)

I don't claim to be any kind of authority on the matter, but to me she sucks the big one. I'm not looking for her to be a control freak, but man she lets shit slide and there's little to no basic decorum. This dog & pony show could have and should have been over a month ago.

    Derp

"I wouldn't know the answer to that Mr. Martinez."
"Are you angry with me Mr. Martinez?"
"I'm confused with what you're asking me, Mr. Martinez."
"Do you want me to say that Mr. Martinez?"
"It seems that you're insinuating I wasn't truthful about my job Mr. Martinez."

I'm sick of her tacking on his name at the end, must piss Juan off. She always slightly hesitates before she says "Martinez" - like she's ready to say another name.
