Off topic, but somewhat related - if some of you have an interest in men who have been stalked & murdered by women, check out the story of Katherine Knight & John Price. Kath is sometimes referred to as Australia's Hannibal & is the only Australian female to have her file stamped "never to be released".

She was an experienced abattoir worker & proudly kept her knives displayed on the wall over her bed. Frightened by her bizarre & threatening behaviour towards him & his children from a previous relationship, John tried to apply for an AVO at his local police station. That same night Kath turned up unexpectedly & talked him into sex. Sound familiar? What happened next though goes far beyond anything even Jodi did.

*****If your stomach was turned by what Jodi did, don't read on.

John Price was butchered in the true sense of the word. He was skinned & his "hide" was strung across the family room doorway. First responders had to pull it back to enter the room, & in the dim light thought it was curtain. Until they realised it was damp. It was soon after this discovery that they realised what the pot simmering on the stove contained. & then there was the dining table, where she had served a meal for each of his children.

There lots more, & there's at least 2 books on the crime & her life, she probably needs her own thread, but there are enough similarities for it to maybe be of interest to some of you.

Travis was not just being stalked, but I believe he was being abused. This changes things, and makes the situation more complex. To add to that, Travis was a man being stalked and/or abused by a woman, which meant fewer resources, and a less likely chance of being taken seriously.

Says Jodi Arias, his abuser and stalker. You say "chose" like he had a perfectly normal relationship with her. You are not taking into consideration how manipulated in that relationship he might have been. He may have told her "No, I don't want sex", and then been convinced to give it to her anyway. He may have been guilted into making a sex tape (and a bad one at that) to make her happy, or to placate her. He may have been too frightened of her to say "no", but didn't tell anyone because he didn't think he should be afraid of her.

I can give you a dozen more scenarios where Travis would not be the totally willing participant you want him to be. There are many ways to coerce and manipulate people, and Travis was vulnerable. He grew up in a toxic home, he was struggling with his faith and his sex drive, he was struggling to find his identity. Abusers and stalkers can key into that vulnerability, and they quickly learn what it takes to manipulate their victims.

Haven't you ever wondered why Travis had so many injuries, and Jodi really had none? Abuse victims, even when they are being physically assaulted, often times don't fight back as hard as they should or can, because they don't want to inflict damage on their abusers.

Yes, I have been stalked. My abusive ex who raped me? Yeah, that ended in a stalking scenario. Every now and then he still shows up, or calls, or sends an email.

Guess what? I never called the police. I never moved. I still engaged with him for many years, and there were times when I thought that he was going to cross the line.

And lookie here! I'm alive and arguing with you.

The woman I know who was stalked? She did all the right things. Called police. Took notes on things. Used the buddy system when she went to work, didn't go anywhere alone, etc. She got a restraining order and changed her phone number. He showed up at her house with a knife, kidnapped her, raped her, and then locked her in the trunk and tried to set the car on fire.

So again, I say bullshit that doing things right will make a stalker less dangerous. It doesn't work that way, because there are different levels of crazy, and police can't do jack until the stalker actually causes you harm.

No, I'm not saying I know about Travis and Jodi. I am making suppositions that are supported by factors such as known reactions of abuse and stalking victims. I discount most of what Jodi says simply because she lies about everything, and has twisted it all up to avoid taking responsibility for her crime. YOU keep saying that it is a FACT that Travis was blase about Jodi. You are saying that it is FACT that he did nothing. You are saying that it is FACT that he wasn't worried. You are saying that it is FACT that Travis didn't do the right things.

You don't know that. It sounds like he was attempting to cut her out of his life. We don't know how she got into his house. We don't know how she got him naked. YOU claim that you KNOW ABSOLUTELY that Travis was just addicted by the sex, and therefore blind to any dangers. There is no evidence to support that. There is plenty of fact, however, to support the theory that Travis was manipulated and abused by Jodi, and therefore, his reactions to her on June 4th are different than someone who is not an abuse victim.

Do you understand this? There is a difference between fact and opinion. What you have stated is an opinion, but you are trying to make it a fact. You have nothing to support your opinion, except for Jodi's testimony and your encounter with a stalker. Again, this does give you some insight, but it doesn't mean that your insight disproves mountains of data that explain how victims of abuse respond to their abusers.

Yes, they had a secret relationship. Yes, they had nekkid pictures. Now, if you take Jodi's first version of events seriously, she says that she has to convince Travis to have his picture taken in the shower. Based on what I know of Jodi, she probably begged, nagged, and annoyed him until he gave into whatever her demands were. So I'm assuming the sex and the photos were his way of appeasing her.

You don't know that he consented in the sense that he wanted the sex. He may have been trying to appease her. He may have been manipulated into letting her into his home. You assume too much with no evidence to support this.

No, what you do is conveniently forget certain things, ignore others, and twist the details to suit your own belief. You are too determined to make sure that Travis take some responsibility for his death, and I find that insulting.

Nothing of Jodi's stalking has been proven in court. Read the top of this post if you need a refresher on that. The bolded part points to your BS and how you contradict yourself. Do you understand that "his choices led him to this and if he'd done it differently, he'd still be alive" is blame?

The definition of blame means to "hold responsible, censure, find fault with". Which is exactly what you have done. You fault Travis on his choices, you assume that he was a totally consenting person who should have seen the danger and that he did nothing to prevent said danger. That is fault, ergo that is blame.

Maybe she apologized to him. As an abuse victim, or simply because he's a forgiving guy, Travis let her into his house. Perhaps it was ill-advised, but this does not make him in any way responsible for his death. If he hadn't allowed her into his home, she would have broken in. Perhaps he shouldn't have had sex with her? Well, maybe she demanded it, and threatened him with that phone sex tape. In exchange for her silence, he screwed her. That doesn't mean he consented to sex. Maybe she suggested break-up sex, and he agreed, because he really did care for her, and he enjoyed spending time with her when she wasn't being weird.

I don't know. You don't know either. You cannot claim he consented when there is nothing that tells us whether or not he did.

    Whew. Long post is long.

Violet, I recommend that you do a little more research on male victims of abuse before you continue the discussion. This case is not about sex or stalking (although both those things are a big part of the discussion).
you are strong and admirable, thank you for the insight......may he never cross your path again.

P.S. Jodi murdered Travis.... still on topic.

Maybe what we need is a "Female Stalker's thread". I don't know what category it could go under.

Though I don't think Jodi has shit on Knight's kind of crazy, I was reading an article and a few sentences struck a chord with me.

"Late that night, after having sex with Knight, John Price dozed off, only to awake in terror to find Knight repeatedly stabbing him.

Severely wounded, Price leaped out of bed and fled towards the front door with Knight chasing and repeatedly stabbing him in the back. With blood spurting from an arterial wound, John Price just made to to the front door before collapsing in a pool of blood and and dying"

Sounds very similar to what most likely happened to Travis.

She is as of now, the last one on the DT's list, though they could still add someone last minute.

It is. The stalking, like the murder, was more extreme in this case, but the basic pattern is the same. She is a lot older than Jodi so she had quite a few more relationships & crazy incidents in her past, simply because she'd been around longer. She's even got a dog killing history, though in her case it's a confirmed fact with no assumptions necessary. Anyway though, this is a guy who DID go to the police for help & that made it all the more shocking, because he told them she was going to kill him & they didn't take him seriously. But I'll shush now because it's not really on topic.

Plus the family doesn't have to worry about the 20+ years of appeals and delays that go long with the death penalty.

And, the reality is juries just don't like to put women to death:

"Twelve women have been put to death since the U.S. Supreme Court in 1976 allowed capital punishment to resume. In that same time, more than 1,300 men have been executed." http://www.azcentral.com/news/free/2...ates-prog.html

One of Travis sisters -- Tanisha I think -- said she hoped Jodi got the death penalty.

Yep. That is part of the reason I feel little sympathy for Jodi's family. Her father maybe, because he seems to know she was fucked up, and I haven't seen him enjoy or gloat about any of it; but her siblings and mother? Forget them.

but those things (I bolded) are true. And, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with posting an opposing opinion. I am right now, but I do feel Jodi murdered Travis and should pay the appropriate price. I seriously doubt that she will get the DP though.

She had to say she got the gun or the stabbing gore would have to be explained, which she's not going to do. That's my thought on that. If she said she used the gun first to just scare him, she comes off as a frightened little thing. If she said she stabbed him first, which was so brutal, not only would she have to explain the knife and then explain why she went and got a gun AFTER she chopped him up, she does not even remotely resemble someone who is frail or frightened.

Well she claims the knife was part of their sex play; that Travis had it to cut the rope (that never existed) so that he could tie her up; even though he had a pair of scissors in his butcher block in his kitchen. Supposedly he left it on the bedside table, or in the bathroom, because she claims she held one end of the rope while he stretched it out to the bathroom and cut it with the knife. Thus, the knife ends up in the bathroom, conveniently.

This is nothing but my assumption as to how things went. Jodi brought the knife herself (some have said Darryl had a knife collection that was kept in Jodi's storage shed), thinking she could stab him in the shower and that would be that. A knife to the heart, while Travis is seated and contained in a small box of a shower, seems like it should kill him quickly and easily. Of course it didn't, and that's what the gun was for, a failsafe. If she couldn't kill him with a knife to the heart, then she shoots him quick and easy.

But, it didn't work out that way, and Travis fought back and exited the shower. Now, the crime scene is bigger than Jodi had planned, and Travis is still moving; he might get away, outside to neighbors or to his cell phone to call police.

We don't know where the gun is at this point, but we can guess perhaps it's in her backpack. Maybe he was getting away too fast for her to go rummaging through to find the gun. And, if she has little or no experience with guns, perhaps she doesn't know how loud a shot will be. Will it alert the neighbors? Will someone call the police on her? Was it better to keep stabbing him than to risk someone hearing a shot and reporting it? Could be. So, she keeps stabbing him; she gets him down and even goes so far as to stab him in the head TWICE!, trying to end him. It's not working, he's still alive. So, she slits his throat, believing that she's delivered the fatal blow, and drags him back to the shower.

At that point, either he's making gurgling sounds and she just can't believe he still isn't dead, and grabs the gun. Or, she figures, better safe than sorry and hurry up and shoot him. One of his roommate's was due to be home not long after. If the roommate had gotten there and Travis was not completely dead, he could've discovered the scene and called the cops, and Jodi would possibly have been caught sooner.

All just speculation of course, but I truly believe that she didn't plan on using the gun unless she had to. She didn't want anyone to hear the shot/shots that it would take to kill him; and she simply underestimated his will to live. She thought she'd stab him through the heart (how symbolic) and he would die right there in the shower.

Yep. According to Jodi, she was always the one to walk away and trade-up for someone "better" than her previous relationship. She wasn't going to let Travis dump her and get away with it. But, she also wasn't going to let him go on and be happy without her and give some other girl all the things she thought he owed her.

Thanks. I didn't remember if Dr. Fog mentioned the teen journals, and Alyce? I just tuned her out after the first hour of direct examination. I couldn't watch it, until Martinez got up to bat.

I have my own personal beliefs but I have never had a family member murdered and I am fully aware you I don't know how I would react if I did. I respect them for their courage to just sit in the courtroom and absorb the assault on their brothers' character.

Thought some of you might be interested on an Opinion Piece in the local paper about the Death Penalty. The particular reference is to James Holmes, the Aurora CO mass killer, but it does have general application to this Tragedy.

I look forward to seeing their last "expert" witness defending her lies against Juan Martinez tomorrow! Friday was just a teaser of was is yet to come. I'm sure Jen is giving her the old pep talk today. AL doesnt stand a chance and I think she lacks the intelligence to realize just how far out of her league she really is! My favorite moments are the ones where she is grinning like a mule, thinking she has made her point and then a minute later it dawns on her that she has been had! I'm sure these scenarios always work out alot better when they are practicing and the Nurms is playing the role of Martinez! Come on! Picture that...you know it is a hilarious image!

Samantha is the police officer. I knew I had seen it mentioned in the Flores report, so I just went back and read it. On page 11 of the Flores report, it's mentioned that he contacted a police officer out of Carlsbad, CA, where Samantha was also an officer, and that's how she found out.

I read on another site that Tanisha owns her own business.

Oh, I am very much looking forward to this weeks testimony! I think JM wanted the jury to have an image of how absurd of a character ALV is, before their 3 day weekend and I think he succeeded! She will be limping out of the courtroom, carrying her ass in her arms, when Juan gets through with her. :)

The behaviors allowed in the spectator seats confuse me. The very few times I was in a gallery watching a trial, there were rules in place. No distractive behaviors, no food, no drink, no laughter. I am curious to see the jurors thoughts on those things after trial, if they even discuss anything.
