Great post! I can't help but think that maybe JAs parents are a tad bit relieved that they are "safe" from her now. Also, I know we always want to believe in the best of our child(ren). I cannot imagine having a child (or any other family member) commit such a heinous crime. I think that SA is grasping really...holding on for dear life, hoping that her child didn't just murder an innocent man in cold blood. I think she is in denial, quite frankly. She can't admit that her own flesh and blood is a monster. It's easier for her, IMO, to believe that something MUST have caused this to happen. I do NOT support the antics of the Arias family in court. I find it disgusting and so low class. However, a great point was made to me in a private message. Many people laugh inappropriately when nervous and uncomfortable. I just can't imagine being in her shoes. She will be criticized no matter how she acts. Again, I think she is being a complete asshole in court! I bet it's incredibly difficult for her, as a parent (or other family member) to know that your daughter/son/family member took someone's life. I hope I didn't jump all over the place. Literally have been up since 6am yesterday. FML. Have a great night everyone!

I've kept my opinions about this to myself but fuck it, here goes.
If *I*, goddess forbid, were in that woman's position, I wouldn't be laughing. Or eating. Or drinking. Okay, maybe drinking enough water to wash down a fistful of pills to get me through the day's proceedings.
I would lie my fucking ass for my daughter if it meant SAVING HER LIFE. I wouldn't give 2 flying fucks to what her crime was, I would be blinded by my need to save her life.
I'd take that stand and lie my ass off, perjure myself into oblivion.
I've never even spanked my daughter, and she's only a few years younger than Jodi.
But you know, I'll admit it, I'd get on that stand under oath and swear up and down I beat her ass every damned day of her existence, 3 times a day and 4 on Sunday just for good measure.
I'd swear I neglected her, I'd swear I brought home literal fleets of sailors to entertain every weekend. Hell, I'd swear I was so drunk most of the time during her formative years that I'd occasionally forget what I'd named her and just called her "Hey you!!!"
I'd swear I was the shittiest shitty mother that ever walked the earth.
TO SAVE HER LIFE, yes, I would do all of the above. No matter what she did, THAT'S MY BABY GIRL. Something in her is broken and while maybe I can't "fix" her, I can at least try to spare her life for her, even if it means sacrificing my own. My love for is blinding, unconditional and knows no bounds. If that didn't work, I'd even try to take that goddamned death penalty FOR her.
If Jodi's very life weren't literally at stake in this trial, I'd overlook some of the mom's odd behavior. But...that's HER flesh and blood up there, and no matter what monster Jodi may have occasionally been for her, there had to have been good times and good memories, too.
The thought of sitting there finding ANYTHING remotely amusing to chortle about in court while someone is up there literally trying to take her life? Nope, nothing remotely humorous or comedic about that shit.

While we're all pondering Stabby's mental health or lack thereof, it really would have been mission impossible for her parents to get her any help. She was an uninsured adult who hadn't, until June 4, exhibited extreme enough behaviors that could have provided her parents with the option of conservatorship. I have good friends in this situation and they feel helpless. They can't legally do anything and they can't turn their backs either. It's a messed up system.

I don't get it either, Sneakers, why none of her family members have been called.
Dr. Samuels testified that it was her brother, Carl, who told him of Jodi having a gun held to her head when she was 13 (?) by some random stranger.
If that's true, why wouldn't that ill-gotten defense team have parlayed that experience into some psychobabble about Jodi's alleged PTSD stemming from *THAT* incident and that's why she went full-on batshit on Travis in the bathroom that day?
Hell, why not call someone who actually knows and is related to her to try to make sense of all this fuckery? Or at least confirm the allegations of parental abuse.
The only conclusion I can come up with is that they're all some degree of batshit in the Arias family and Martinez would annihilate them on cross so the risks outweigh the benefits of having them take the stand.
I don't believe Carl. If he is telling the truth he would have testified for the defense. I want to know why all this shit is coming out 3 months into the trial!
