It's a common occurence for criminals to claim they experienced periods of amnesia. It's mostly a bullshit excuse, like pleading insanity. The only times it can really be proven is when it is found that it was organic amnesia. Psychological amnesia is too easy to make up as a "Plead the Fifth" kind of excuse.

Honestly, her taking the stand and claiming amnesia is further diminishing her credibility to the jury.

Jodi is better defined not as a person who is suffering from amnesia, but is malingering (from wikipedia: fabricating or exaggerating the symptoms of mental or physical disorders for a variety of "secondary gain" motives, which may include financial compensation (often tied to fraud); avoiding school, work or military service; obtaining drugs; getting lighter criminal sentences; or simply to attract attention or sympathy).

I am too nosy not to abstain from doing it, so I'm sure at least a few of them are. I don't think there are trackers on their tv's or anything, plus them being in the area, it has to come up on the local news, it would be hard to avoid it.

Do you feel like Dr. Drew actually has a good knowledge when it comes to the psychology of addiction (or psychology in general)? I've never cared for the man, myself. But I have been going from what I have seen and heard of him through tv and radio throughout the years. Curious what your thoughts are as someone who has been treated under him. A lot of the celebrities that praised him (i.e. Mindy McCready) haven't had the best outcome, sadly.

I was in treatment at Las Encinas where Dr. Pinsky was the head of the program and it is an excellent facility and it did me a lot of good. Now where I (and it looks like you) differ with him is when he tried to parlay that into the various "rehab" reality shows... That "quick-fix", superficial made-for-tv stuff aggravated me... It did more harm than good to people in general and as you said, to many of the participants.

One on one, in group and in a real-world setting he is excellent... He does have the ability to put things in a way that even the addicted brain can grasp :)

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to hear that you are doing better. I agree about the quick fix setting of the reality program. It's just not an appropriate venue for most of those people who actually need some serious help (especially since there have been a few deaths of Celeb Rehab participants).

Agreed. We had to sit through all this testimony about Trans Global Amnesia, but that's not what she has. What a waste of time.

dr. Samuels brought that in to introduce the physiological triggers to amnesia. He says relatively little things can trigger the chemicals which block memory creation. It was kinda sneaky back door thing.
