From what I'm trying to gather, it's the memory function is working at 100% and then during the onset of a traumatic experience, it lowers over time and then after the traumatic event occurs, will bring itself back up to capacity.

He's basically saying her amnesia is due to a psychological effect, whereas Jodi has been claiming her amnesia is due to an organic occurrence, (damage to her brain due to her head injuries)

ETA: With her traveling and bullshit, they would have honestly been better off saying she was experiencing a Fugue state. The whole amnesia that isn't an organic occurrence is kind of a controversial subject, since it can't be physically proven.
