Wow..they just laid out all the knives that were in Travis' house..appears there was no knife in that dishwasher that could slash a neck.

OH>>>>> Get this man off the stand. I can't take it.

This guy is fucking up her entire case. He has called her:

"The perpetrator of a violent homicide"

    "The initiator of these events"

    ???

My ex was given that diagnosis in his 50's. One can only be diagnosed when brought to a doctor. And very few disorders are limited to children, only.

I will research it. I am curious now. The doctors on the show had talked about how they should re-write the DSM and talked about age 15 as the maximum age of diagnosis for a sociopath. Course, I have never really had to learn about what a sociopath is until this trial, so I was taking their word for it. Get back to you on this.

Ok..so maybe it was after age 15...! Your ex was a sociopath? I think mine was too, looking at their behaviors. He was either a sociopath, or the tin man (no heart).

On Nancy Grace they are talking about Samuels case in N.J. that wasn't quite legal.

    Jodi's diary from jail!

    Entry #20

    March 14, 2013

    Dear Diary,

Um, I don't know if I would call this the "best day ever", but it is pretty close. It is about freaking time some attention was given to what I have been through. The stress I am suffering daily is almost unimaginable. The things I am going through are absolutely egregious. I sometimes have trouble falling asleep at night. I suggested to Nurmi that we video tape me sleeping. It would be a great exhibit for the jury to really get a feel for the pain that I am suffering. An added bonus would be that I always sleep in the nude. It would be great for the jury to get to see me naked more! Especially since I have lost so much weight here in jail. My body is pretty exquisite.

My expert witness did an excellent job explaining my nebulous memory. Thanks to the good Dr. the jury will NEVER know that I am faking my memory loss. I knew the first time I talked to the Dr and he and Nurmi coached me on what my defense would be that it would be absolutely tenable. Nurmi was concerned that I devacillated too much, but I knew that we could just blame it all on PTSD and I would get a free pass. The Dr. said that he read all my diaries, but he only mentioned reading about 2,000 pages. He must not have read all of the portions I ripped out. My real diary pages number in the tens of thousands. I cannot help it. I just love talking about myself. I find that my advanced vocabulary really comes in handy too.

I admit, I am not a patriotic person, but I certainly felt like a patriot when I was being compared to war heroes and police officers! I am fighting a war of my own. So, I guess it all fits. And, if you think about it, soldiers and police officers sign up for that sort of stuff. They deserve any PTSD they get. I don't deserve any of the negative affects I have suffered since murdering Travis. I didn't sign up to defend our country or protect people. But, here I am, facing fake PTSD after murdering someone. Life is just so unfair. I am just very thankful for an American justice system that allows people like me to say anything at all in order to get off the hook. Guess I am a little patriotic after all.

    Till next time,
    Jodi

    Thanks!

I think the defense has a LOT to try and overcome. A very brutal slaughter with huge overkill, lots of lies and attempts to cover up afterwards, a story of what happened that keeps changing as the evidence is revealed, significant evidence of stalking, obsession and premeditation, and a photo timeline detailing the killing. This is a terrible case from a defense standpoint. Apart from what they are claiming, I don't think there is any other defense they could have used (apart from insanity, which was ruled out early on because Stabby is not legally insane).

I give the defense an A for effort as well, they are making the best they can out of a horrible case. But Stabby is so vile and obvious, and the evidence so overwhelming, that I don't think they are making much headway in portraying a believeable defense.

My thoughts, exactly. She is entitled to a defense, legally. Some poor soul has to do the job and, as public defenders, that is what they are paid to do. I agree with you....there IS no defense. I think they sifted through every idea they had, to see what could possibly work. And this is the best they could come up with. They know she killed him. They know she was not insane. Unfortunately for Jodi, none of the evidence (of which there are mounds) points to her claims. Instead, I believe they support the DA's charge of murder in the 1st.

The term psychopath/sociopath is mostly used in the field of law enforcement and forensic psychology.

For an excellent overview on the topic, I refer you to this page, about psychopathy, on the FBI website -FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin: Focus on Psychopathy

NG brought up the incident with Dr. Samuels that happened in NJ in 2000, or thereabouts. Apparently he was supposed to talk to both parents in some kind of custody issue, but he only talked with the father. He also bartered with the father to do the counseling, in exchange for dental work from the father.

I know it was mentioned here, pages ago, briefly. But, this could be more serious as to his personal credibility. He didn't do his job fully, and then he only assessed the father, and did so in exchange for free services. So, was he bought off? He apparently was fined for this.

Not that it would necessarily have a big impact since he's allowed to take money to present a specific side, but, it would kind of cast doubt in his words and his integrity.

To be clear, I was married twice. My first husband, Steve, is the one who died by suicide. I remarried a man who had lost his wife to cancer, but he began some odd behavior about a year later. Long story short, he was given that diagnosis of sociopathic tendencies...along with possible borderline. His mother was a diagnosed borderline. So, who knows. I stayed with him, through hell and back, for years. But, I finally gave up the battle when my therapist reminded me that I was working harder than he was to fix his issues. He is harmless, but has a lot of the same symtoms as Jodi. Detachment, compulsive lying, master manipulator, etc. He also got into prescribed pain med addiction, so that added a whole different level to what I felt I could expose myself and my children to. I divorced him about 4 yrs ago. We are civil, still. And I am happy with that...I don't bear him ill will.

Like the TV show "Criminal Minds", BAU = Behavioral Analyst Unit.

Samuels must be a bargain basement expert. Too bad Jodi couldn't read from a binder.

Awesome, as usual. You have her down pat. not sure if that's a good thing - the ability to get into THAT's mind- but you do it so convincingly, lol.

It may be the cucumber or carrots that wakes Stabby up, the 3 hole wonder. Gosh I shouldn't have written that

Early on today I thought Jodi seemed very listless, staring off blankly into space instead of busily writing like she usually does. I even wondered if she was medicated...then the sex therapist/transgender counselor/whatever (WTH?) started talking about flat affect, dissociation etc. and I realized...she's ACTING! Totally acting the part of a PTSD victim for the jury's benefit. And the smiling with Nurmi at the end (was the jury out of the courtroom at that point?) was the icing on the cake--I expected them to start high-fiving each other next. Just, I don't know, disturbing...
